  1. Can you post a few samples of what you eat day-to-day? Are you in a gluten-free or gluteny household? I found that after I was diagnosed I had (1) missed some gluten via cross-contamination or medicines/vitamins (2) couldn't eat raw veggies or much fat (3) milk and milk products bothered me; (4) could only eat small meals slowly. You could try...
  2. I'm sorry you're not feeling well and that you're in a new country without a support system. I use these dining cards in foreign restaurants in the US. They're free and they have cards in German. Open Original Shared Link This board has an International forum with a search function. I found this advice: I recommend you to get in contact with...
  3. Just so I'm not misunderstood: I don't think all or most cases of MS or RA or Type I diabetes can be reversed or eliminated by going gluten-free. I think that going gluten-free MAY relieve the symptoms for some people, some of the time. I also think the same thing about gluten-free for autistic kids. I do think that - maybe way in the future - gluten...
  4. Even though you aren't craving it, I'd try eating avacados, extra olive oil and nuts, if you aren't intolerant of these. Have you tried flax oil or fish oil - capsules or liquid? These oils are very good and help with the healing. I'm not saying not to eat beef fat, just that these are really good for celiacs. And are you menopausal? Or post-menopausal...

    ARCHIVED Should I Get A 2Nd Opinion

So when do you get the biopsy results?
  6. Ms.C - So glad you're doing well and back from your trip. Keep it up!
  7. There are some members that had MS diagnoses or that were suspected of having MS. Perhaps they'll jump on. My personal opinion is that no human (with the possible exception of those with only DQ4 genes) should ever eat wheat. MS, RA and diabetes are, IMHO, caused in some way by gluten ingestion and a combination of other factors. My MD agrees with...
  8. I agree with Steph on this. You might have to do this to heal - eat mostly whole foods, eliminate processed gluten-free foods and anything questionable. I also just posted this on another thread but it applies to you too. Open Original Shared Link It states that only 65% of adults heal after 2 years gluten-free, 89% after five years etc. So you are...
  9. I eat one Lara bar or Kind bar a day and have not had trouble with them. They are lifesavers for me for travel, work and business events where they leave food for everyone but I can eat it or get out to get my own food. I have some stashed in my purse, briefcase, car and desk. I do second the use of the crockpot and Stephanie's 365 day crockpot blog...
  10. YES, that was exactly my point and the point of the article that I posted. Her doctor shouldn't expect her to be all better after only a few weeks/months.
  11. Karl, I do hope you get help for your illnesses and depression/anxiety. I wasn't diagnosed until after I had kids but I had kids knowing full well that both sides of the family had various (possibly hereditary) diseases like heart disease, diabetes, cancer, depression, arthritis, near-sightedness. NOT ONE person on this planet is perfect and not one...
  12. Navigator, sorry you've been having problems. Based on your spelling of "coeliac" versus "celiac" I'm assuming you're in England. Though I don't know much about the labour (get it??) laws there, I can see why you've got to keep your doc on your side. I think you'll have to convince him that going back on gluten would only leave you more debilitated and that...
  13. Sorry you're having troubles. I react to diet coke. A couple times that I felt "glutened" I blamed it on a restaurant or the server having gluten on their hands and getting it into the cup. Just recently I realized that the diet coke itself was the problem and have sworn off having it. The year before I was diagnosed I had 1-2 diet cokes a day and...
  14. Mimette, sorry to hear that you're struggling. I know the feeling when you don't want to eat out or get sick out. I think after you heal, it will get better. Some of the feelings caused by anxiety can be lessened as you get better (which could take another year) and then some could be helped by relaxation tapes or perhaps hypnosis or seeing a counselor...
  15. I would have the blood work redo, check for lymphoma and ANA levels. Thyroid should be repeated. Good luck. Let us know what happens.
  16. Have you been checked for diabetes, leukemia, lymphoma and had a full physical? I was reading another forum here and it talked about Low Dose Naltrexone (1.5 - 4.5 mg)is used to treat people with autoimmune diseases. You could ask about that.
  17. Ok, I didn't notice that you wanted low cal, and not liking eggs is hard. How about a fritta made ahead. Leftover rice, eggs, veggies maybe some cheese. You can use some egg whites to lower the calorie count. Make ahead, put in individual servings. Let me know if you want a recepie.
  18. There are a couple diabetics who hang out here and I hope they'll give you some personal advice. But from what I've read, the problem with combining a gluten-free diet and a diabetic diet is that most gluten-free replacement foods don't have much fiber and have a lot of simple sugars which mess up blood sugar. I think it will be important to eat lots of...
  19. I went past my old sushi lunch spot yesterday and got a craving. I've not been brave enough to try it from a restaurant and debated finding and making some. My son eats a lot of Annie Chun's gluten-free sticky rice, which comes pre-cooked in a microwave container. Today at the store I found her Sushi kit, which includes the rice, seaweed and of course...
  20. ENjoy Life also makes chocolate bars, too, including one like the gluten-filled Nestle Crunch. I found them at the local health food co-op.
  21. I don't know how sensitive you are but I only trust corn that states "gluten-free" because of rampant crosscontamination of corn (similar to oats). Bob's Red Mill has gluten-free poltenta/grits. They also sell regular non-gluten-free corn grits, so you have to check the label to be certain. They are also available via amazon.
  22. I, too, use gloves after I came close to licking my fingers too often. And I'm paranoid that I'll miss something if I just wash them. Also, I noticed that after I had guests over (don't normally have gluten in the house) that my fingers itched and broke out in bumps which was a new symptom/problem. Perhaps I'm also allergic to wheat. So I wear gloves...
  23. Bella, sorry you are having challenges. It should get easier. If you are still in the early stages of going gluten-free, I would advise against eating things like gluten-free cookies or baked goods. Couple of reasons for this. The cookies could have something in them that you react to, could be cross-contaminated ("CC") with nuts. Some just don't...
  24. In previous years, they were not gluten-free. Hmmm...maybe I'll get one for my teenaged (gluten-free) son. He has missed them.
  25. Sbloom, welcome. It looks like you have a good doctor (the second one at least). You're right that most moms with 2 kids under age 2 (been there, done that) will be tired. But you're a poster child for someone who really needed to go gluten-free after the first blood test was positive (blood tests are very rarely false positive) and now you've go the gut...
