Benefiber
ravenwoodglass replied to darlindeb25's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Unfortunatlely doctors are not as up on what is safe for celiacs as would be desired. I would go with Benefibers own warning, repeated here with the important part for us in bold. There is a world of fiber out there that is safe and is easy to get, tasty to consume and has no gluten grains. 16. Does the new ingredient, Wheat Dextrin, have any ill effects... -
"I use antibacterial hand wipes in the car but they are even gluten-free." This was the only thing that struck me when I read your last post. The reason I have pulled it out is because of the alcohol that is in them. That would be considered to be a safe item and the company would state it is gluten-free even if they used a gluten derived alcohol. I...

I am so sorry this has returned. If it is related to the celiac then you may be getting just enough gluten somewhere to keep it active. Perhaps it is a nonfood item that is getting you, do you have pets or have you got a hobby where you are using paints or clays or adhesives? Have you checked all your toiletries and cosmetics? Do you have a significant...

Canker sores are not herpes. You also can not distinguish which type of herpes sores are present just by the location. You can get genital herpes anywhere and the same with oral herpes. The differences in them are found through analysis of the cultures. Just because a lesion is either above or below the waist is not the defining diagnosis of which type...

I agree completely that both those doctors should be fired. Make sure you get complete sets of your records from them including test results and doctors notes. You have a legal right to them and it is a good idea to keep those if you are not already. Don't worry about the pain meds knocking you out if you can sleep then do, that will help you to heal faster...

I would toss that product it may be counterfit with an interesting phone number like that. Did you read the rep the UPC code to verify that it was actually a product of theirs, not that that couldn't be faked also. I also avoid their products and since you were talking to a rep in heaven knows where I agree with Shay that they were most likely saying barley...

I can certainly sympathize, I was there myself 6 years ago. I know you are aware by now that if you go gluten-free before the endo that the test would require a reglutening for an extended period of time IF you decide at a later date to have it for diagnosis. That said not all of us require a doctors firm diagnosis to stay on the diet, when it is the answer...

If they have a phone number on the label it might be best to call them. I went to their website and they do seem to be quite celiac friendly, they even have a page of gluten free recipes and it appears they are selling a gluten-free baking mix. Unfortunately I couldn't find any info at all about the ingredients in the ice cream.

This was from medline: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/MEDLINEPLUS/ency/article/001468.htm Exams and Tests Examination by the health care provider may show: Excess joint laxity and joint hypermobility Soft, thin, or hyperextensible skin Mitral valve prolapse Periodontitis Signs of platelet aggregation failure (platelets do not clump together...

This is their stance on gluten but I couldn't find anything on soy. "Is Barilla Sauce gluten free? Barilla does not add gluten to the raw materials used to make our sauces. At the present time, however, we cannot guarantee that our sauces are absolutely gluten free." http://www.barillaus.com/Home/Pages/faq.aspx If they don't have a phone number...

It certainly wouldn't hurt him to be gluten free and might very well help guite a bit as far as his general strength and immune system. As to the issue of MM and celiac what I would do is do a seach with the terms 'multiple myeloma and celiac'. There will be a lot that comes up. From what I understand when we are compliant with our diets many of our cancer...

I use either a buillion cube or Pacific gluten-free chicken broth and then throw in some of the Thai Kitchen Thin Rice Noodles. They can be found in the Oriental section of many markets. I like them because I can just bring my cup of broth to a boil then throw in a small handful of noodles and cover the cup with a plate for few minutes an the noodles are...

Hopfully you will have the same result I have. I have been gluten-free now for over 5 years and don't know if it is a coincedence or not but for the last 4 I have seen a great decrease in my subs and dislocations. I used to have to relocate my ankles every morning and was often woken up by them dislocating. That almost never happens anymore. I have noticed...

Manwich Sloppy Joe Sauce

Some of us will be fine with this, others like myself would not be. Do you react to grain alcohols? If you do you will be more likely to have a reaction. Sensitivity to gluten grained vinagers and alcohols vary greatly amongst us. I wish I had a conclusive answer for you other than to challenge it when you are eating nothing else risky and see if you... -
Dunkin Donuts
ravenwoodglass replied to skichikk18's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
With all the flour drifting around in one of these shops even if the cocoa itself is gluten free it most likely won't be by the time you get it. Please use a great deal of caution if you decide to try it. Personally I wouldn't touch anything from there. -
Everyone is different and I think the pain can change for the same person. For the first 5 or six years of my constant D it was actually usually painless and without warning. I was almost happy when I started to get cramps, at least I had some notice. For the last 5 years the pain was so severe that it is almost indescribeable. Cramps and spasms that...

Nickel Allergy Anyone?
ravenwoodglass replied to cyberprof's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Michelle, What kind of issues are you dealing with that are thought to be EDS related? There are different subtypes of EDS, some of them with only issues with joints and tendons and others can be serious with organ ruptures (uterus many times in women). There are also hypermobility syndromes that are just that hypermobility without any of the connective... -
Nickel Allergy Anyone?
ravenwoodglass replied to cyberprof's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Along with all my other allergies my nickel allergy has become much less severe. I still would not try wearing costume earring but I don't react to things like my snaps at all any more. All of my allergies have lessened though, some have disappeared totally. I find the Ehlers link interesting as I am also an Ehlers Danlos person and have even seen some... -
Nickel Allergy Anyone?
ravenwoodglass replied to cyberprof's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Add me to the list. Although I am no longer so reactive that I have to wear something between the snap on my jeans and my skin. My Mom was allergic also and always said it was a great excuse to buy good jewelry. -
Is Vsl#3 Safe
ravenwoodglass replied to whattodo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you are still healing, ie. symptomatic, do not take these it can set you back or keep you symptomatic. I would pass these on to a non gluten intolerant friend or ask at the store you bought them if you can return them for exchange or refund. Depending on the store if you explain that you turned out to be 'allergic' to a component of the product this... -
Is Vsl#3 Safe
ravenwoodglass replied to whattodo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I wouldn't take this product. There are probiotics that are safe for us, I would either pick one of those or try to find a yogurt with live cultures that is safe. Your not going to have much success balancing your digestive bacteria when you are getting CC'd.
