    I went to see Dr Stephen Furs in Cary. I saw one in Raleigh and I wasn't impressed with him at all. He basically told me that I messed up my digestion when I did the Atkins diet... wonder if it was the same group you saw? I have not used a nutritionist, but I know there is one on Blue Ridge Rd. It's like a whole body place, with a gym, doctors and a nutritionist...

    Do you eat meat or fish? A piece of chicken or some shrimp on top of the stir fry keeps it healthy and does a better job at filling you up. There are also a bunch of different grains, if you can tolerate them, that will help keep you satisfied and are high in protein, like quinoa, teff or buckwheat to name a few.

    Was that your total IgA? Or do you have more test results that you can post? The reason I ask is that if that is your total IgA, it looks awfully low.

    From what I understand, there is an antibody test. Your doc should know about it, and if your docs a homeopath, he/she would probably be agreeable to doing it for you.     That would be your best bet of getting insurance to pay for it. My GI sent me for the genetic test so I didn't have to go back to eating gluten again. My GP told me that insurance won't cover it unless a GI orders it, since it's a Gi disease; so she recommended a good one for me to go to. Hopefully your GI will be agreeable to it.

    Having been burned by a wheat free cereal and a digestive enzyme containing wheat, just look for the stuff that is clearly labeled gluten-free. And if you don't see it (especially on processed anything) just DON'T chance it. Supplements can be especially tricky.

    I just posted about my doctor's visit today. The doc told me that they do believe Celiac to be hugely underdiagnosed, simply because it DOES manifest itslef in so many ways.
