Ate gluten and didn't get sick?
Scott Adams replied to Josh Corney's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
BTW, to get more to the point of your original post, certain varieties of wheat do contain less gluten, and are less toxic to celiacs (which isn't to say that they are not toxic celiacs, just less so). Additionally, if they used low gluten varieties AND fermented them into a sourdough, most of the gluten could be eliminated (there are several teams... -
I'm not from the UK, but would like to offer some advice. You may already know this, but you need to keep eating gluten until your tests are completed, and I believe that the first step is a celiac disease blood panel: Although the UK may not be up to speed on food allergy testing and treatment, celiac disease is an autoimmune disease, and the UK is...

The main thing is for you to support her with her diet, which might mean that you also go gluten-free. If you can't do this, you'll need to put some effort into making sure that her food isn't cross contaminated with gluten. @trents has asked some good questions, let us know what you mean and we can be more helpful.

Ate gluten and didn't get sick?
Scott Adams replied to Josh Corney's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree, it is just sad that this dooms many, including myself, to higher costs for private life and health insurance, and makes them harder for people to get...which is the main reason why I say that an official diagnosis may not be the best option for everyone, especially for those who have no issues staying on the gluten-free diet. Now that I'm older... -
Ate gluten and didn't get sick?
Scott Adams replied to Josh Corney's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Over the 25 years I've run this site I've seen many claims made here, in other sites, and in books, etc., that celiac disease can be "cured", but I've not seen any scientific evidence to support this claim. After my gut healed I've been accidentally glutened from time to time, and I don't have a big reaction to it, however, this doesn't mean that the... -
In response to several reported reactions from consumers, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is recommending individuals with celiac disease, or others with gluten-related disorders, to not consume the product described below as it may contain undeclared gluten. The product described below has been distributed nationally. No other lots are...

Ate gluten and didn't get sick?
Scott Adams replied to Josh Corney's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you have celiac disease you shouldn’t be eating any wheat at all because it will cause damage. In those who have healed their gut it may take weeks or months to re-injure their gut, but it will happen. Keep in mind that most celiacs don’t have symptoms yet the damage is still being done, and the risks of associated autoimmune disorders is the same. -

Scott Adams replied to DJFL77I's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Best for what? Your question isn’t clear. Most toothpastes are gluten-free, and some people don’t like fluoride some people do, some people have sensitive teeth and need special toothpaste for that… What kind of toothpaste are you looking for? -

Biopsy results over the phone
Scott Adams replied to Kelly1920's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Just know that your blood test results may be telling you the answer. Over the years many in your shoes with positive blood tests but negative biopsy results decide to continue to eat gluten, only to realize later that gluten causes them serious issues. The gut damage is typically considered the final stage of celiac disease, and it’s best avoided. -
This is great information, but I've not heard of a connection between Perioral Dermatitis and celiac disease or gluten sensitivity. Do you know of such a connection?

Crazy Idea???
Scott Adams replied to Days Off's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Nepal should not be an issue with regard to finding gluten-free foods, but I would bring a gluten-free food card in Nepalese that spells out your dietary restrictions. I regularly eat at a Nepalese restaurant and their curries with rice have never caused me issues. I do take AN-PEP (GliandinX enzymes) before I eat out, and you may want to consider bringing...
