ARCHIVED Can't Get A Diagnosis! Frustrated!
ang1e0251 replied to nu-to-no-glu's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm glad you are sending for your test results. What one dr interprets as negative or low might be positive for certain individuals. Post your results here. Did you know that if you are IgA deficiant your blood will never test positive? Blood isn't the only proof. I think you are smart to get the Enterolab test. It can give you another piece of... -
That is excellant advice. I only will add that you shouldn't assume you'll be just like your dad. My daughter is very like me but I totally missed her lactose intolerance as her symptoms were very different from my own. She does tend to be like me but react differently. And she suffers from headaches which I have never had. I would also say if you...

ARCHIVED Food Intolerances Besides Gluten
ang1e0251 replied to jkr's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I would agree with the other posters. It's just too soon for you to narrow that down. In the beginning, your system can be so raw it feels like you're reacting to everything. I would back off to a very simple diet of whole foods that you prepare yourself with one ingredient seasonings. No fresh dairy for now and if fruits seem too irritating, leave them... -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy/colonoscopy
ang1e0251 replied to ksymonds84's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Since you didn't mention the inflammation was in your stomach I will assume it was small intestine. Yes, it is from your challenge. That's exactly why the doc's want you to challenge before a procedure. Luckily you still showed damage for you test even though you stopped your challenge. That also shows you that you are a slow healer so it's no surprise... -
ARCHIVED Honey
ang1e0251 replied to nauseatingnancy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
We always bought local honey as it was reccomended for improvement of allergies. The theory is that the local bees use pollens you might be allergic to so this would help you resist the problem. When you can chew the honeycomb, the antihistamine affect is even stronger. You chew the comb and as the honey is used the waxy part hardens. You can take more... -
ARCHIVED Can Strenuous Activities Cause Celiac To Act Up Or Is It All In My Head?
ang1e0251 replied to Liveenjoylife's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm wimpy, too. Although much better than the "old days". I still have to conserve my energy and have given up formal exercise for now. I am grateful though that I can work and keep my small house. I'm also grateful my children are grown because I remember how hard that was. About working out though, even after almost two years gluten-free, if I... -
ARCHIVED Having A Positive Attitude Helps Me
ang1e0251 replied to MissyJoy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sorry, he's taking it slow. It is hard to get your mind around. I mentioned on another thread how disapointed I was in my sister as I've been on the gluten-free diet for almost two years and this is the first time she's asked me about it. She was shocked that I dx'd myself and wasn't getting a DX from my dr so I could get treatment. When she had a health... -
ARCHIVED What Do You Do When Your Starving?
ang1e0251 replied to UnhappyCoeliac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Kind of tougher on you guys cause we gals can get a lot in a purse! But all the suggestions are good. At the least I always carry a Lara bar with me. This would fit into your back pocket. Excusing yourself at a restaurant is no big deal, everybody does it whether to smoke or talk on a cell phone. At 1 am that food bar in your pocket can come in handy... -
ARCHIVED Think I've Been Glutened, Please Check My Menu :)
ang1e0251 replied to tygwyn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dairy, sure but you've been having it. Try to give it up for a few days and see. The orange juice doesn't seem like it could have gluten in it but I can tell you, in the beginning I couldn't handle any fruit. Just too much on my sensitive system. Now I can eat any kind again. I would wonder about the corn.. In the 60's when we sold corn on the... -
You'll feel better as you heal. Some people start improving immediately, for some it takes time. Still others seem to feel worse before they feel better, and most of us have ups and downs. Like the disease itself, there isn't any one answer and you'll make mistakes on the diet and have bad days from that. You might also have some fantastic days in between...

ARCHIVED Spices/seasonings At Farmers Market
ang1e0251 replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had to toss all the ingredients I had bought over the years at my favorite bulk food store. I was reacting. I finally remember that they sell many kinds of flour there, too and some of those are divided into smaller packages. I pictured all the flour in the air and realized why I was reacting. -
ARCHIVED Should I Be Worried?
ang1e0251 replied to jmwong982's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I tend to have breakouts which I guess means I'm probably allergic to wheat as well as having celiac disease. For me, I especially screen hair products but don't watch dish soaps. You kind of have to CSI your reaction to each product or just avoid. Up to you. -
ARCHIVED Celiac Vs. Gluten Intolerance - Interpreting Test Results
ang1e0251 replied to termcder's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So the way I read this, this is an antibody test and if he is positive that indicates celiac disease not GI. Is that correct? -
ARCHIVED Celiac Vs. Gluten Intolerance - Interpreting Test Results
ang1e0251 replied to termcder's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'd really like to learn more about the test as I have never heard of a difinitive test for GI. -
Its okay I'm not going mad but am thinking about what I am eating everyday while I am looking at other peoples problems and one thing that I have increased by having practically every day or every other day and that is baked Red Potatoes (potassium) is this lowering my blood pressure and causing the problems? Ok, in your first post you said you were...

ARCHIVED Moving Into A New Apartment
ang1e0251 replied to Googles's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I always like paint or line the cupboards in a new place. I like to use wallpaper to line. One roll goes a long way and you can pick a pretty print for cheap! -
I think there is a prettty sharp learning curve. I was glutened a lot in the beginning, mostly through my own ignorance. As I've worked through those problems and tightened up my eating, I have not reacted in some time. The last bad glutening was a year ago and I had a mild reaction about 2 months ago. I'm almost at the 2 year mark and doing better than...

ARCHIVED When Will My New Life Start?
ang1e0251 replied to Jackpru's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I am posting today because I have hope again. I think milk proteins are the culprit. The delayed reactions made it hard to see the connection, but I think I am right! That would be an allergy to casein, the protein in milk and its products. There are many references in the files here regarding avoiding casein. You can look it up on the internet also... -
I'm sorry you're feeling so sick. You mentioned allergies. Are you susceptable to sinus infections? My daughter and husband are. When they have a sinus infection brewing, the drainage to their stomach can make them queasy. As it worsens, it's really sickening to their stomachs. They don't usually feel different in their sinuses just their stomach....

Sounds like something else is causing you gastro distress. Have you cut out other foods besides gluten? Or are you getting sneaky gluten like through a new medication or remodeling you are exposed to? There are many ways you have symptoms. Give a little more info.

ARCHIVED When Will My New Life Start?
ang1e0251 replied to Jackpru's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I second the advice about B12. You want the sublingual, methyl type. The neuro symptoms seem to take the longest to heal and with so many years of damage, you may not heal completely from those. But you can improve a ton and feel human again. Yahoo!! With your doc, you can see if he will diagnose you based on dietary response and other factors like... -
ARCHIVED Appendicitis Or Celiac (or Gluten Intolerance)
ang1e0251 replied to sunnyl24's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
On the other hand, I've never heard of appendix pain for 4 years. I'm no dr, so I can only say my opinion. I get a lot of pain with gluten and it can be in that area or the other side. It probably is time for you to have a colonoscopy with your family history and your mom is very smart to get you off gluten. Definately if being off gluten feels better... -
A multi V is great for maintenance but when your levels are low you will need additional supplements. Talk to your ND about what to add to that.

ARCHIVED Newbie... Possible Celiacs?
ang1e0251 replied to njm22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm so sorry you're feeling so bad! You sure do show a lot of the signs of celiac disease but to be tested you know you must go back on the gluten. If you find it impossible to do so, then your choices are to carry on with the diet without a dx or see if your dr of another dr will agree to dx you based on dietary response and other factors. Other factors... -
ARCHIVED New Symptoms After Starting Gluten-free Diet?
ang1e0251 replied to BungalowBill's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Welcome to the Forum. It sounds like you have a good start to your diet and good results. But a couple of things do jump out to me. I didn't think you were getting glutened until you said you share a toaster and don't check the sauces on your restaurant food. I played that game for a few months and let me tell you it really wasn't worth it. Mine was...
