  1. Sounds like brain-fog to me and yes tiny bits of gluten could cause this as many of us become more sensitive to gluten after going gluten-free. Good luck with your endo and I hope the fog clears shortly thereafter!
  2. It is a strong positive compared to my tTG IgA of 23 upon diagnosis. I was a weak positive but confirmed celiac by biopsy results and major damage/atrophy to my villi. As previously stated, don't stop eating gluten until your endoscopy is done. Once gluten-free you may find a number of miscellaneous symptoms improve or disappear -- this is when the...
  3. "I asked if they were produced on seperate lines or just gluten free ingridents. The kind representative told me that they are produced seperately, she said if there was a chance it was cross containimated the product would say either produced on lines that contain wheat, or may contain wheat. Just thought Id pass this along." Great we've had bad luck...
  4. Did you have any digestive issues before trying gluten-free? If not, it may be that your mental issues were caused by diet but was caught before you had major digestive issues - therefore you wouldn't see a day to day reaction when ingesting gluten -- doesn't mean it won't set you back. Curious -- did your doctor check your iron, ferritin, b, d, k levels...
  5. Have you eaten a lot of beta carotene (one of the vitamins found in carrots) and been doing so for a while or recently added new vitamin supplements? Are all orange or red for the past week and half? I've never seen strange color more than a day or two in a row -- maybe someone else has seen orange for a longer period?
  6. That is great news...sure made me smile to read! Curious...was this your first endoscopy since your diagnosis? Sorry to hijack the thread -- just was very nice to hear of confirmed healing! -Lisa
  7. We have been missing flour tortillas - brown rice tortillas work for quesadillas, but are to dry for burritos. At any rate, I tried a recipe for crepes yesterday thinking that at least they are very thin and might work as a flour tortilla substitute. They were fairly close and satisfied our craving for flour tortillas to stuff with carne asada, fish or...
  8. When I was newly diagnosed I mistakenly believed that once I was gluten-free and healing, small amounts of accidental gluten wouldn't hurt -- after all I'd been ingesting large quantities my whole life -- how could a tiny bit hurt here and there. Boy was I wrong. I have been glutened by cc at three different restaurants where I had ordered items that on...
  9. My dog has stolen a sandwich freshly made with miracle microwave bread -- I was mad enough to lose that sandwich -- you'd have to hold me back too if she ate a loaf of freshly made bread!
  10. "I can't help but to be relieved yet disheartend at the same time. I just knew that we were on to something. Her symptoms were fitting celiac better than anything else that I had seen." Many Celiacs have negative blood and endoscopy. My tTG IgA was barely positive...but with symptoms my Celiac Doctor went ahead with endo - major damage and celiac damage...
  11. I dont have quotable figures on how many Celiacs test negative, but the figure of 95% accurate sure sounds wrong -- maybe someone else has data. I too thought Sprue was Celiac -- as in the former common name for Celiac Disease was Celiac Sprue -- my primary actually called it Celiac Sprue when I tested slightly positive on my tTG IgA. Glad the diet...
  12. Welcome Kristy!! You are most definitely not alone...many of us went years with docs running blood tests that come back normal, normal, normal...only problem is this is not in our heads and unfortunately many of us have to get extremely sick and have major damage to our intestines before doctors finally stumble on Celiac or we find it on our own. Very...
  13. Mushroom already suggested the necessary blood work. Mine were personally low in B, D, K, Iron, Ferritin, Zinc and Copper upon Celiac Dx. I currently take Multi, Fish Oil, Calcium w/ D and B supplements - along with Malic Acid/Magnesium... I too had major improvement of gastro issues within the first two months gluten-free, but my fatigue and achy...
  14. Agreed.
  15. You'll need to continue to eat gluten for a few months for either blood work or biopsy and even then many with Celiac Disease have negative tests. You mentioned you already feel bad since adding gluten back into your diet. Do you feel strongly that you need an official diagnosis? Your doctor may be able to diagnose you with the dietary response along...
  16. I too am anxious to try Udi's after soooo many favorable recommendations. Although I'm hesitant to order as I've been disappointed by other bread suggestions. Yesterday I requested my local Whole Foods stock Udi's. Udi's website indicated that many Whole Foods Markets already carry their bread and WF already has a large gluten-free bread selection, so...
  17. I do get the upper abdomen really big bloat/look 8 months pregnant when glutened - since going gluten-free it has happened twice - each time I had deflated by the next morning.
  18. We all deserve to lose it at one point or another. Recently we had my in-laws 50th Anniversary Luncheon at a small Italian restaurant. I contacted them in advance - they seemed very helpful - I ordered from their regular lunch menu a simple grilled chicken with apple and walnuts salad for my son and myself - spoke to the owner when we arrived at the party...
  19. Update: Off Savella after two weeks of 12.5mg because I could not tolerate titrating up and hadn't seen improvement on the low dose. Started Flexeril muscle relaxant at bedtime - theory is this will relax muscles and improve sleep, thereby increasing energy and ability to exercise to improve other fibro symptoms. Also started Mobic Acid & CoQ1...
  20. Our family would like to get the vaccine, unfortunately there has not been availability here in San Diego. My boys pediatrician had the H1N1 nasal mist in mid October, but unfortunately both boys had a flu bug with nasal issues so we missed that window. We aren't sure but suspect the boys (14&16) and my husband have already had H1N1 - it was...
  21. Your symptoms could be Celiac. I would start with blood tests, although blood tests along with biopsy often are negative in people with gluten intolerance or Celiac Disease. Option #1 - Try to find a Gastroenterologist that is experienced/interested in Celiac cases. I you go this route continue eating gluten until testing is complete. Option #2...
  22. I agree...with damage to your villi and family history I'd either get a second opinion or go gluten free without a diagnosis. There are so many false negatives, it seems that many of us don't test positive or show damage until there is extreme damage if at all. Good Luck to you!
  23. Not sure what's making you sick. I do know that for my first few months most food still made me slightly ill -- this improved about month 5. How long have you been healing? Hope you feel better today!
  24. I did the SAME exact thing -- only I knew Milky Way's have gluten -- but when I picked three candies from my gluten eating son's bag I was thinking snickers are gluten free and grabbed a milky way instead -- no wonder it tasted so good! Later that night I was bloated up like 8 months pregnant which hasn't happened since going gluten-free -- figured it out...
  25. Thanks Tiffany -- and congratulations on the upcoming baby!
