  1. The Dude just posted a photo of Irish with her arm around Dr. F -- we may never hear from her again
  2. Oh boy...do I ever understand this thread. The worst time seemed to be about a year to two years after I was finally diagnosed with Celiac Disease -- after all -- we finally had a name for what was making me so sick and all I had to do to improve my health was remove gluten, right? Here is the brutal truth -- some of us take a very long time to have...
  3. The food/symptom log is vital for those of us with brain frogs Hang in there
  4. Most Dairy, grains, legumes, nightshades, nuts (except almond), seeds, all histamine containing and inducing foods along with all sorts of things floating around in the air -- just call me bubble girl
  5. Have a blast Irish -- Go get it all! I'm a bit of a grumpster today -- not bad -- just a touch of a cold and last night had another flipping idiopathic anaphylaxis deal -- abdomin still all bloaty today so I'm having smashed purple sweet potatoes -- really cool -- found another type at a farmer's market -- white skin with bright purple insides -- prob...
  6. You will likely get your yogurt back -- try it again after six months gluten-free
  7. The Bio-card is a home version of the tTG-IgA for which you have already been tested.
  8. I received an email about the upcoming online Diabetes Summit -- thought it might be of interest to some members here. Open Original Shared Link
  9. Bummer...I hate hearing that you are having trouble with the foods you added back. You can tell pretty quickly if you are having histamine food issues...you can remove them for one week and then reintroduce...for me I had huge reaction to avocado back during the great elimination of 2011 and had no idea why -- fast forward to all this histamine/mast cell...
  10. Country Ribs Roasted Asparagus Butternut Fries Great to see Mw back Going to check out that bread -- never hurts to have more good bread -- been very happy that I found a store that carries Canyon Bakehouse for 4.89 and then I buy eight at a time to get a 10% case discount.
  11. Yep...my last one was 8K before insurance contracted price lowered it a bit. Plenty of people are diagnosed without endoscopic biopsy. The criteria is to have three or four out of five: Antibodies Genetic Markers Biopsy Resolution of symptoms with complete removal of gluten I'm forgetting one...will add later if I have time to look it up....
  12. Welcome! The thread you posted in is older...yet there are some active members. I do hope you'll have some response...if not send me a message and I'll try to direct you to folks that can answer. Hang in there
  13. I hate to add fuel to the fire..........but my chemical/scent sensitivity has gotten increasingly worse since the removal of gluten. I am not talking science right now...I know I can't tolerate scents or smoke any longer...i used to be able to gracefully excuse myself. Um, no longer. If sensitivities are increasing....IMHO...it is time to look at histamine...
  14. We all need them once in a while. I'll be back tomorrow...but am sure others will be along with a warm welcome. Hang in there Sweetie : )
  15. Oh Shannon Sweetie -- if I could hug you, I would. There are many of us that completely understand your frustration. I personally would love to "educate" the nurse that flippantly suggested you try to remove gluten prior to testing. Yet, here we are. I do admit I gave your post a very quick read and will be back - perhaps with more info. For now...
  16. You have celiac. The biopsy is still a very good idea...only you can decide if the cost is worth the information that it may provide -- tough call IMO. We are here for you...either way. Let us know how we can help...and if you haven't seen it yet...check out this thread - you will be glad you did: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie...
  17. Welcome! I am a proponent of the endoscopy/biopsy - except when the current state of our medical/health insurance system puts the test out of reach financially. A biopsy is a good idea, but not essential. Your tests do indeed indicate Celiac Disease. Do you have the reference ranges provided for each test -- these are helpful to us as the reference...
  18. Dinner tonight was at the ballpark for Padre home opener. Son had a dog, I had encore chicken. There may have been cheetos and brownies...throwback padre colored snacks are tradition for my kids. We lost...but had a blast...hung until top of the eighth...decided to beat the crowd on the trolley as son is hoping train for his sis's in northern California...
  19. Great! Good luck with it all
  20. Welcome Seeking! I don't think you were met with a wave of criticism -- you came to a Celiac Disease Forum and talked about other testing before completing celiac antibody testing. I have to agree with the other posters...take the first step to complete celiac antibody along with nutrient testing and if those do not provide answers -- by all means...
  21. Still envy your carrots....need to plant the rainbow seeds I purchased last year. My upstate NY Uncle Jack is back in the hospital and cousins think this time is different as in may be time -- wonderful corn farmer and better man -- is 92, but never easy to watch those we love suffer. Planting something is on my mind this evening.
  22. Loopy Laura Glad you are improving! Angry girl here today -- too much time dealing with insurance companies, doctors and more for my Mom -- good thing a wonderful friend sent me the new America's Test Kitchen Cookbook and I received a free ticket from Living Without for their San Diego gluten-free Fair in May -- the mail carrier may have...
  23. One way will be to retest after three and six months gluten-free. The antibodies should come down if all gluten is removed (and was the cause of the elevation). Another is symptom improvement/resolution while gluten-free. Edited to be clear: I am talking about re-testing the celiac antibody test that was positive (tTG-IgG) Hope that is clear...
  24. Mine contract and swell as well. Not as bad as prior to dx...unless I run into my severe intolerances which cause extreme abdominal swelling due to an overload of histamine in the digestive system. If you are not, try keeping a food/symptom log as it can help figure out the cause of lingering inflammation triggers.
  25. Welcome! Six weeks is still early days in terms of complete intestinal healing. Often we have trouble digesting other foods during the healing process. The most common problem is dairy. If the issue is dairy or any other particular food...remove it for several months and then try it again as most folks get these foods back once their digestive system...
