  1. Its possible. It really depends on how thorough they were with the blood tests. Some people don't make enough of the stuff one of the tests look for - so that test doesn't work for those people. Open Original Shared Link
  2. It doesn't sound like you have really been gluten free. I think maybe you should give a strict gluten free diet a chance for a few months. That means no shared toasters or jams or PB or other condiment jars. Stop eating out for a few months. Maybe read the Neebie thread to see what else you may have missed. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/918...
  3. I will do the dishes if you cook for me! And I won't whine about it....not even once. Edit- forgot to add what I am having - grilled chicken, oranges, red peppers, walnuts on spinach salad.
  4. Heres a reliable site with good info about Celic disease - Open Original Shared Link "The only treatment available When you have biopsy-diagnosed celiac disease, you will be instructed to begin a gluten-free diet....." Also, just a positive DNA for Celiac does not mean you have Celiac. About 30% of people have the gene but only about 1% have Celiac...
  5. Have you been diagnosed with Celiac disease? Are you looking for a GI for that? Even if you are already diagnosed, there isn't much for a doctor to do.
  6. Why do corn tortillas need Corn syrup & guar gum? I know you don't know.... I am just wondering. Corn syrup and guar gum are 2 things that some people have issues with.
  7. I don't know any doctors there. I bet there are some GI docs in Sacramento that would be good. I am not sure why you need immediate medical treatment? Celiac disease doesn't usually need a lot of treatment besides the gluten free diet. If you are having some sort of issue that can't wait for your doctor to come back - is there a doctor covering his...
  8. This poster hasn't been on the forum in 9 years. I doubt you will get an answer. I think you did have some replies on your own topic?
  9. Did you see this? Of course you didn't.... it wasn't posted until a little while ago! Anyway... could be something to look into.
  10. I agree. There are lots of people eating gluten-free that probably don't need to. And there are probably a lot that can just eat gluten light (for example, someone with FODMAP issues). What made me say "Ugh...here we go..." is that lots of people will see this show and think everyone who is gluten-free can eventually eat gluten again. Many people don...
  11. If you were diagnosed with Celiac disease - you should not have ANY gluten! You will never get better consuming a little gluten. "The gluten-free diet is a lifetime requirement. Eating any gluten, no matter how small an amount, can damage your intestine. This is true for anyone with the disease, including people who do not have noticeable symptoms....
  12. I have never seen a shredded cheese with wheat flour. I am curious what brand has that so we can warn people? edit - It seems to be a persistant internet myth so it would be good to have some real examples. -Wheat flour gums up and sticks when wet. A restaurant might add some to the cheese if its being made into a sauce (as a thickener) - but that wouldn...
  13. The best way to find that out would be to call or email the different companies to ask. edit - just looked at their website - doesn't look like they make anything but miller and oats. But you could easily contact them and ask.
  14. It is really hard to say. You don't know if you have Celiac - so it may not even be gluten? Might be something else you ate that day? If you have only been gluten-free for 5 days, it really may not be gluten - 5 days isn't enough time to get yourself back to "normal". You need to eat gluten and have fresh lesions to get them diagnosed for DH.
  15. I saw the topic and, tho I usually turn the show off, I decided I should listen. I was glad the doctor he was interviewing said that this did not apply to Celiacs. But I knew this would come up and will probably haunt us for a while.
  16. I think you should be hounding your doctor about this! From what i have heard, fistulas can be hard to heal. Unfortunately, 1 surgery and some antibiotics may not do it. Have you been evaluated for Chron's? I think fistulas are associated with it?
  17. Some info from the Celiac Center at the University of Chicago to show your doctor. Is there an association between celiac disease and fibromyalgia? There is no known link, but the two conditions present with similar symptoms. We recommend that those who are diagnosed with fibromyalgia also be screened for celiac disease. 18. Order it from the library first? that's what I did and then decided I liked it and bought it.
  19. Just an FYI - this thread is from 2007, Most of these posters haven't been around here for years. Maybe you would like to start a new thread about yeast issues in this section OR about yeast free diet in the Alternative Diet section?
  20. Your Celiac blood antibodies are going up. Sounds like you have Celiac. The GI just missed the damage when he biospied. Open Original Shared Link "if I have a positive blood test and a negative biopsy does that mean I have non-celiac gluten sensitivity? This is not necessarily true. It may be that the biopsy was done or read incorrectly or that...
  21. Here: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/blog/1148/entry-2038-brynjas-artichoke-sausage-baked-ziti-and-a-white-chocolate-almond-amaretto-cheesecake/ The blogs sort of fall off the first page and a few weeks from now, this link will be easier

  23. This week, we had a yummy beef, Ital sausage, potato and bell pepper dish. I put too much broth in it so it was more like stew. Very yummy. Added a bit of red wine and some pepper flakes. Tonight nachos and refried bean dip.
  24. My son's high school football coach told his team of skinny players that adding 2 PB sandwiches to their day was the best & easiest way he has seen to bulk up the players.
