  1. Because that's too expensive to put up some turkey's butt! gluten-free beer goes in the chef! Edited: Wait..... You meant get an extra 6 pack so I could use 1 bottle to cook the turkey? Hmmmmm... By my math, that leaves an extra 5 for me! This could work. :0
  2. Here is a good place to start for some basic info: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/
  3. If anyone would like to help Godschild, I have set her up with her own thread here: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/109664-new-to-celiac-and-need-help/#entry932535
  4. I have heard people use ginger ale instead of beer in chicken. An easy way to make some delicious turkey to take along is the get a turkey breast and cook it in a crockpot. Very easy and very moist and yummy
  5. You might want to read up on Chrohns . That is very serious. I still think the father should go to the doctor appointments with a list of questions.
  6. Also meant to say- maybe her dad should go with them to the doctor? Make sure it's a " real" doctor? Not a chiropracter or "naturopath"?
  7. There are no such pills. There are lots of rip off products you can buy. If the child has really been diagnosed with Celiac disease, the mother, by failing to treat a chronic disease, may be guilty of medical negligence. Your husband may want to consult a lawyer. 8. If I ate that much lemon pie, I might have some issues, too. But it tasted sooooooo good!
  9. I would keep eating gluten until I got an endoscopy and colonoscopy. You are about the age for a colonoscopy anyway. That way, you can make sur there isn't any other issues. That nutritionist is wrong. I would suggest you see an actual registered dietician, but even these "real" medically trained dieticians often have no clue about gluten-free. Seems...
  10. Allergies are different than Celiac disease. Currently there isn't evidence that there are other foods besides gluten that cause Celiac disease. Open Original Shared Link "There is not yet reliable data about cross-reactivity. As for the alleged possibility that many gluten-free foods or drinks (such as coffee, milk, orange juice, etc.) would...

    ARCHIVED Co-Workers

I saw the title " Co-workers" and assumed this was another story about co- workers making fun of you or consistently having food parties, or waving fresh doughnuts under your nose. What a lovely surprise!
  12. You can drink ginger ale. Most all sodas are gluten-free - Coke, Diet coke, Pepsi, Sprite, etc. Read the ingredients - barley malt or malt might be the only thing they could possibly have - but I haven't seen it in any mainstream sodas.
  13. Those tests are not currently considered accurate or proven. Open Original Shared Link
  14. I have used canned creamed corn once or twice - for a recipe where it was a small part of the whole. I think, by itself, its not very tasty. I would read the ingredients carefully because we know there is something to thicken it. I try not to use canned veggies because I don't think they are as tasty as fresh or frozen.
  15. I thought you had the concept before.... But I guess not. The point we are trying to make is - if they don't test but say it's less than 20 ppm then who really knows? Yes, it's supposed to be less than 20 ppm. Probably is. But unless the goverment has a reason to think its not in compliance, then they will not test the product. For example, just...
  16. I am sure those a very lovely colors, with very unfortunate names! When I was new, I looked for products made by Con- Agra & Kraft. I knew they would clearly label the gluten incase I missed it in the ingredients. Please, no one argue with that.... That is just a fact of what I did years ago. It made things easier and worked for me.
  17. Let's see.... I have some catching up to do. Thur - rice, the rest of the encore chicken, can of Rotel tomatoes, Can of beans, some salsa, rice, a little chicken broth - cheese on top. Fri - Brauts on the grill with veggie/fruit kabobs - canned potatoes, red pepper, sweet onion & fresh pineapple - marinated in Teryaki Last night - Bonefish...
  18. Here's a link. It has some recipes. Some of these people, Like IrishHeart, aren't around much anymore but their recipes will be here forever. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/105230-1st-holiday-season-after-dx-how-did-you-feeldocope/page-2
  19. Do they have flavored yogurts? You could freeze them. They are ice cream like. Also, regular pudding is yummy frozen. Can you get Jello pudding mixes? Or make some homemade? They do the frozen fruit stuff there, don't they? That's yummy but it's not ice cream. Maybe you could make ice cream?
  20. I think once teeth are formed, they don't change. You can get better gum health gluten free that will help them to be healthy, but I don't think they can change colors. Whitening might help.
  21. I guess its a trade-off - beautiful views, weather, beaches.... or cold, pollen, traffic and lots of ice cream flavors!
  22. I guess I am not sure what you are asking? For someone who should not eat gluten - gluten is the first and main ingredients of those. Maybe you should get the blood test for Celiac disease before you stop eating gluten? That might be helpful for you.
  23. I forgot about those. They are to make a sauce or dip or casserole - something like that. I guess they add the flour to thicken the end sauce. Too bad they couldn't just use potato starch.. Just a good example of why you have to read the labels.
  24. Might want to check the response on the "Dandy" thread. Natamycin - Sounds like it would be gluten-free. A bit of a yucky thought, but gluten-free. Open Original Shared Link It is hard to make a list of every possible food that is gluten-free, IMO.
  25. Wow! That is a great answer! I would never use something that said barley or wheat - even if tested gluten-free. It might be really gluten-free, but in my mind, I would know it had barley or wheat..... I would probably make myself sick worrying.
