ARCHIVED Where's The Gluten?
kareng replied to Sarahsmile416's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sorry. You said you had " tons of reflux" so I thought maybe, with the EE diagnosis, you would want to try that diet. If I remember, you are getting the copies of the medical records to find out what the inflammation in the sm intestines is, correct? If I'm thinking of someone else, make sure you get them. And ask that GI what you are supposed to do... -

ARCHIVED Where's The Gluten?
kareng replied to Sarahsmile416's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Have you checked what causes reflux? Fatty things, spicy things, large meal, eating to close to bed, etc. maybe it had nothing to do with gluten and that is what is causing you issues? -
ARCHIVED Ee Not Celiac But Still Frustrated And Confused
kareng replied to Sarahsmile416's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That is fast for a pathology report - maybe. If the pathologist gets to it right away, it is possible. The results were likely sent electronically so that saves a day or two. I'm wondering if your doc actually biopsied your small intestine? I guess you will see when you get the report. -
ARCHIVED Onset Of Celiac In Baby
kareng replied to sunburst's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Blood tests aren't always reliable in babies: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link "How accurate are the celiac blood tests? The current diagnostic tests for celiac disease are very accurate, particularly when tTG and anti-endomysial antibodies are elevated. The isolated presence of anti-gliadin antibodies does not necessarily... -
ARCHIVED I Forgot, Then I Remembered And Now I Really Remember!
kareng replied to AnnJay's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Are you sharing things like PB, jelly or butter tubs? Things that people put on their breads and put the knives back in? Colanders are really bad as it is very hard to get every little bit of pasta out of the holes. People may not be as careful at your mom's house as they are at home. Could be a lot of things. It's even possible it has nothing to do... -

Dumb question for those of you who have tasted the Bacon Jam. Would it be good on cornbread? The cakes kind? That's what they like the most of gluten-free rolls type things at my house. -
ARCHIVED Post Card / Christmas Card Exchange
kareng replied to GFinDC's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Oh, dear! I would have written something in the card if I had known! I mailed the cards today. These are not really Xmas cards. These are prints of paintings by an artist that went to grade school with my oldest. I had to write a check to Elton John to get them. I thought they would be interesting, hope you like them. -
ARCHIVED Malabsorption And Excessive Bowel Movements
kareng replied to GFreeMO's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It took me months to slow it down. And I would feel tender sometimes. Sorry....wish I could have said something more encouraging. -
I think you are right. That must be the error. When I quote someone, it puts my cursor right next to the last bracket on the last word [ quote]. Easy to erase that last bracket I had to put a space between the bracket and the word quote or I got that same message!

ARCHIVED Blood Tests
kareng replied to shadowicewolf's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You have Christmas to figure in, too. That might add an extra day. Ours were quick but where a lot of people's blood is sent is here in town. Also, previously, they only ran Celiac panels on Tue & Thur. If you got your blood taken today ( Thur) it wouldn't be read until Tue. However, Tue is a holiday so it might not be read until Thur. Or you could... -
The Funny Pages - Tickle Me Elbow - The Sequel
kareng replied to TriticusToxicum's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
M learns best when he is moving or listening to music with a beat. This seems to be a boy thing. He was fortunate to have some teachers, 2-5 grade, who let kids stand at their desks and fidget as long as they didn't bother anyone. His 3 rd grade teacher knew he was interested in animals and gave him a book of animal hero stories. He would do his out loud... -
Which post are your trying to reply to? Maybe I could see if it works for me? Once in a while, something odd happens. I believe there is a gremlin in the system & he occasionally gnaws on a post that he likes or annoys him. Lets see if you can reply to me. If not, see if you can message me and tell me it didn't work

ARCHIVED Gluten Free For Two Weeks, Biopsy In Three Weeks
kareng replied to Mirjam's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
First thing I would do is get a copy of those blood tests. Pretty odd that he "mis-read" them. Not sure if I would let him do the endo. But if you are going to let him do the endo, make sure he takes 6-8 biopsies of the small intestine (stomach & esophagus don't count). if it were me, I would eat some gluten everyday until then to make it more likely... -

http://www.rachaelrayshow.com/food/recipes/sunnys-bacon-bark/ Bacon Bark! Sounds like what my dog would do to get some bacon but looks interesting. Not sure what Hungarian Paprika is or what could sub for it here. Have to go to Penzys this weekend, so may see if they have some. We found an olive oil and vinegar store ( next to Penzys). You can... -

We have Penzys spice shop & I think they have sumac in a small jar for the same price I got a big bag from the Halal meat store. If you have a Muslim community, you might have a store like that. We have a Persian restaurant and they said they would sell me some. Be careful, some packages of sumac have salt added which you don't want. You can add your... -
