  1. Those are very pretty!
  2. I took squirmy’s comment to mean that we should stop whining that our families or a sandwich shop don’t feed us safe gluten-free food and take matters into our own hands. Bring our own food, cook or help the family member cook, go to restaurants that have a good understanding of gluten-free ( not expect every place to spend the money and training to pro...
  3. Your doctor’s office are idiots. Those are going in the right direction. See how they are in another 6 months. Also, do you have any other autoimmune diseases that might impact them? Maybe you did mess up the first month or so... that is to be expected. Also, antibodies can continue to climb for a few weeks when you first go gluten-free. ...
  4. Unfortunately, it isn't as simple as keeping some gluten-free bread around. gluten-free bread alone does not make food gluten-free. They would have to keep the bread frozen, have a dedicated toaster and fresh sandwich ingredients that had not been CC'd.

  6. You don't need a new microwave. You need a clean microwave where stuff won't fall off the top into the food. You need a gluten-free toaster if he is eating toast. colanders that have had gluten pasta should not be used for gluten-free pasta or rinsing fruit, etc. the point is anything that is used for gluten and can't really be cleaned well needs a gluten...
  7. Barley isn't in pasta or pizza dough, etc. https://www.cureceliacdisease.org/faq/whats-the-sequence-of-events-when-gluten-is-consumed-for-someone-with-dermatitis-herpetiformis/
  8. I just want to clarify that "gluten free beer" cannot contain barley. "Gluten reduced" beers contain barley. Maybe its an allergy to barley? Have you been eating wheat things but not barley? Maybe try that and see if that works.
  9. I find that I can eat a little bit of quinoa but a large amount seems to make my stomach hurt. I think it may be the fiber. Just my unscientific theory.
  10. I have no idea what that test is. That is not a test for Celiac. Gluten intolerance does not cause an autoimmune response. Maybe take her to a medical doctor for a Celiac blood panel - but only if she is currently eating gluten. http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/wp-content/uploads/FactSheet4_Antibody-Blood-Tests.pdf http://www.cureceliacdisease...
  11. So, I think the resolution of these things has gotten better and better. It is quite possible that the GI doctor missed the damaged areas when he biopsied. I am assuming the 2 procedures were not done together? Or did they use the Ct to guide the biopsies? And how are your blood antibodies? this is definitely a discussion to have with the GI doc...
  12. It looks like the villous atrophy is seen on slides,,, meaning the biopsied samples under a microscope? Obviously, I don't know exactly what written, so I don't know. I am curious, have you been gluten-free for 25 years ?
  13. Do you have Celiac? then you will be glutening yourself every week! That is not recommended. Listed by the Celiac center as a way people are glutened http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/faq/what-are-some-common-ways-that-gluten-can-sneak-into-my-diet/
  14. Yes. Talk to your church about the “ low gluten” wafers that have less than 20 ppm of gluten.
  15. Instead of writing a blog, maybe you would want to post these questions on the Forum? Might get more answers that way.
  16. I don't know about those specific places, but the couple od places i have been to, the cake or Graham cracker flavors say gluten-free. They are just flavors with artificial flavorings, not actual cake or graham crackers. But you should always check with the yogurt store. Usually they list what is gluten-free. i think the important point here...
  17. I guess you can't get tested by a doctor for Celiac because you have been gluten-free for so long. Maybe you are on the wrong tract with blaming gluten for your problems? I am wondering if you shouldn't be dealing with that lyphocytic colitis. I would suggest you consult a GI doctor and see how you should be treating that or if it has progressed.
  18. If you have been been gluten-free, you shouldn't have no evidence of Celiac now. That does not mean you don't have Celiac. As an example, if you have high blood pressure and take medicine to lower it, you don't stop taking the medication because your blood pressure is now good. In Celiac, food is the medication. You don't stop the gluten-free diet...
  19. I have a red toaster and the gluten one is silver. I keep mine under the counter and I don't use it much, the gluten one stays next to the gluten bread because it gets used a lot. My red toaster was less than $20 at Penneys a few years back, we also use red duct tape on the top of my butter or PB tub, etc. I chose red because it is easier to find red...
  20. That's normal. They sell a sandwich not an omlette. But the more concerning fact is that a Celiac is trying to eat at a Dunkin' Donuts.
  21. If the antibodies were high, and now, while eating gluten-free, they go down, ...that is what is expected, your antibodies should go down on a gluten-free diet. That doesn't mean you no longer have Celiac....it means you are treating it. For example, a person with high blood pressure takes a medication that puts the blood pressure into a normal range...
  22. I would call and ask. Usually, if it is cancerous, they will let you know in a few days . Lots of people have colon polyps....the point is to remove them before they cause issues.
  23. You have Chrohns disease and the doctor isn't doing anything about it? chrohn's is a serious life threatening disease . Celiac is serious, but not like Crohn's. .
  24. Worst case you will need to call child protective services repeatedly, sue for sole custody - maybe supervised visits for him - or even termination of his parental rights due to medical negligence. Might talk to the attorney for the children’s hospital about that. Unfortunately, to protect them, the government may have to take them from you temporarily w...
  25. I haven’t had it but wouldn’t hesitate to eat it. I know quite a few local Celiacs that get it
