  1. elimination diet and food journal i would say that is your best bet. stephanieL is right: there are no tests for food sensitivities.
  2. i like a particular venue in knoxville (and my son is friends with the owner, which helps) so, if i want to see a show, i just message gina and ask if it's ok for me to bring my beer. so, i do, and i tip the bartender to open it for me one place (it was outdoors) just gave me a cup and told me there's no security in the parking lot so i could pour my own...
  3. it's easy, peasy the hardest part was faking a ricer because i don't own one. i think last time i made it, we had it with sausage, brown butter and sage. yummmmzzz (now i want gnocchi..... ) last night we had greek baked chicken (stuffed with spinach & feta, topped with herbed bread crumbs) with cucumber tzsasizikei <ok, you know, that...
  4. try keeping a food journal and make notes on how certain foods are being digested/agreeing with your gut and which are giving you trouble. it's easier to find the 'culprit' and then just skip it for awhile. i couldn't eat (ie) peppers for a long while but have been able to add them back in. i am one of the ones who have trouble with soy (nothing to do...
  5. hope you feel better - enjoy those kiddos! i think i may hit the easy button, myself. macaroni & cheeze w/stewed tomatoes - comfort food. might go trailer truckin' to tuscaloosa tonight with That Guy

  8. ok, i think next time i make this, i will use a smaller pan lolz because 9x13 is too big so, it's oooogly (looks like the chocolate surface of mars) but it tastes like a chocolate cookie covered cherry <i only ate a little because the cherries had red dye 40 in it and i can't remember if it is my friend or not. i am definitely eating the rest so...
  9. and, nowwww...........BACK TO CAKE!!! hey, ms. k, i has cherry pie filling and a bc chocolate cake - are you saying all i need to do is dump the pie filling in and sprinkle cake mix and then melted butter, bake, viola! ??
  10. if you really want to be sweet, you could just take the cookies, say 'thank you' and give them to your friends that's what i do when the church ladies forget (i feed them to my husband - he is so tortured lolz) (and as i was just disappointed by a nectarine <the texture of a golf ball> i was lamenting the last time i had a *good* peach. i bought...
  11. here is a helpful link https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ if you read the disclaimer at the top of the list, even it says you must read the label every time. these are not the only gluten free foods that kroger sells, and not all products are sold at every store. most canned veggies and fruits are gluten-free also fresh...
  12. chicken fish potatoes green beans tomatoes beef bACoN <yeah! lobster shrimp artichokes sweet potatoes eggs cheese peaches
  13. "i have an auto-immune disease that destroys my small intestine when i eat any gluten, which is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye and sometimes oats" then i curtsy ta-daaaaaa....
  14. if he was diagnosed with celiac disease, why is he eating gluten again? that is hard to understand. i mean, after he already got his guts rearranged, wouldn't you want to comply with the medical advice regarding DIET. not to mention, dh is only one lovely side effect of a celiac eating gluten. there are, like, 300 possible symptoms...... this is...
  15. hello, my dear. your story echoes my own. (((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))) it's crazy - out of all the doctors i have seen before i got my celiac dx, none of them could connect the dots so, we trudge on, hurting and sick. i, too, was too sick to hold my own baby. i watched him take his first steps from my hospital room window when my...
  16. the cops don't know him up there so he's taking that $h!t somewhere else HAHAHAAA!!
  17. yeah, bug spray hates my skin, too - we do the dryer sheet thing. also, they are great for inside the tent when one is camping: just throw a bunch around and in the corners of the tent. (and under the bed - yup, that's right, i made him get me a bed so the air mattress isn't touching the ground. if the bugs want to make a meal of me, they're gonna hafta...
  18. check out the newbie 101 thread in the coping section of the forum. lots of great advice and some tricks of the trade welcome to the best club you never wanted to join
  19. that *was* a good article. i believe i will make my daughter read it - i have been pushing for her to lose the gluten because of my dx and because of her childhood dx of r.a.......................... so glad for that little boy, though!
  20. get copies of your blood test. if it is the correct test to determine celiac and if it is positive, i would say 'slam dunk' - false negatives are common, false positives are not. it IS a good idea to get a dx but also you need to rule out other things that would require different treatment(s). they tested me for tons of things. (i thought i definitely...
  21. we go from winterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain.............. BOOM! full on summer - if it rains in the afternoon, you have to mow the next morning lolz loving the warm and sure did miss my flip flops!!
  22. yeah! i also like rudi's original bread. and new planet beer/ale is good but they don't sell it around here maker's is safe i use it all the time. (LOLZ we put it in a spray bottle to spritz a ham w/gingersnap glaze and now, if i walk by it, i spritz my mouth, it's kind of a joke if i'm discussing something serious, i'll go over and take a spritz...
  23. i bring my own bread and have my pastor bless it as the host. i go to a methodist church. we kneel at the altar, and one of them brings around the bread and i just hold mine in my hand and show said person that i'm already good to go. (it is just a little piece of udi's or rudi's or whatever i have around at the time) i did speak with our minister ahead...
  24. 'ibs' ought to be 'i.bs.u' - it's like a catch-all phrase that means 'i don't know what's wrong with you' in doctorspeak. a symptom of what is really wrong with you. i was told that for years: you have irritable bowel syndrome. sounds fancy, doesn't it? of course my bowel is irritable! WHY is it irritable????????????????? havanesemom, i also...
  25. i feel ya. for years i was overhearing that i had anorexia or bulimia. at my worst, everyone thought i was dying of cancer. yayyyyy........... now, if i hear anyone say "gluten free" in *that* tone of voice, i tell them: " i'm *sooooo* sorry my life-threatening disease is an inconvenience to *you*"
