VSL#3 has all the right cultures, another option is make Kefir, Sauerkraut and generally as many other cultured foods as you can and eat/drink them instead -
ARCHIVED Ketotifen Fumarate And Other Mast Cell Stabilisers
foam replied to foam's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm doing a two week Nystatin challenge and blood testing in the next two weeks to see if there's improvement with that, afterwards I'll be doing the same test with Ketotifen. Very excited to see how it performs. -
lol @ veins rolling away, I average about 4 needle sticks for every one that goes in and I have blood drawn every second week.. it gets old pretty fast.

ARCHIVED Dietery Advice Badly Needed! How To Live Without Grain?
foam replied to jaywalker's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
#1 stop eating all oils that don't come from meat (coconut is OK but mostly from meats) totally and I mean don't even have them in the house, stop eating potato, don't eat sweet potato. Eat lots of Chicken (seems I'm doing a lot of ex vegan anti veganism today lol). Cook everything in lard or ghee or butter if you have to. Don't eat fruits (esp citrus and... -
You can read my story for more details but I was vegetarian and for a decade vegan from age 20 to 42 (real vegan, real vegetarian (no egg while vego, no fish ever obviously). I strongly believe it contributes to leaky gut / intolerances and even early onset of celiac disease as you typically eat more grains as a vegetarian. I was the most extreme of all extremist...

ARCHIVED Creatine For Vegans And Vegetarians...
foam replied to GFinDC's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I've taken creatine supplements while vegetarian. I couldn't say it helped mental performance but it certainly doesn't hurt in muscle conditioning and weight gain while you are training. Given that you get next to none when vegetarian and it's an important substance it doesn't hurt to take it. It has no flavour so you can drink it in water pretty much without... -
ARCHIVED Cromolyn Makes My Food Reactions Less Intense
foam replied to Laura Wesson's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Well that's true the Ketotifen is a very strong sedative, it's many times more powerful than say Zyrtec in that way. Although in saying that I never did get used to the Zyrtec, in fact I think I get less used to it over the months. With the Ketotifen it really hit me hard for the first few times I took it and now it's OK. Still, I wouldn't be able to use... -
ARCHIVED Are There False Positives
foam replied to Rachelmoore's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'd ask for the gene test for the rest of the family. There's no guarantee you will get Celiac disease if you have the gene's but if you have DQ2 I think that's more than enough reason to not eat gluten even if you are not sick (yet) because the odds are not good. -
I have the white tounge and rash, I've had a severe rash / sores on my back and chest for 20 years. I've also been pumping down the Zyrtec over the last 7 months and it certainly takes the edge off it and so has lowering my IgE levels from 4000+ to 2000. However the anti histamine/mast cell stablizer I'm on now is working much much better than 2x Zyrtecs...

Yes Diflucan is a very harsh drug and from the papers I've read is almost worthless against Candida but it does work well against some other fungi, It certainly didn't work for me. Apparently the food grade antifungal Natamycin is much stronger and more effective than Nystatin and safe at pretty much any dose as it's not absorbed, However Natamycin is...

ARCHIVED Cromolyn Makes My Food Reactions Less Intense
foam replied to Laura Wesson's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
You can get the Ketotifen here Open Original Shared Link They also stock Cromoglicic acid here (Gastrocrom) Open Original Shared Link But as it's much more expensive and you have to take more of it, maybe you want to see how the Ketotifen goes for you first. That shop is excellent and they ship via EMS, it only takes a few days to arrive... -
ARCHIVED Dunkin' Donuts To Offer Gluten-Free Donuts And Muffins Across Us - Celiac.com
foam replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity
When gluten free goes mainstream commercial like this, that's when you know it's killing a bulk load of people, pity they will probably replace it with Corn which tends to be no better -
ARCHIVED Ketotifen Fumarate And Other Mast Cell Stabilisers
foam replied to foam's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm still waiting / hoping my neck will go down soon but other that. I'm symptomless as far as the gut and skin itich goes so long as I take the Ketotifen. Larapiz, it must be systemic because it's measurable in the blood, the half life is 12 hours, but peaks about the 2 hour mark. It's a very cheap drug (I got mine from Japan) it's about half the price... -
Candida releases a compound that causes you to produce pro inflammatory cytokines, some bacteria do this too, apparently streptococcus thermophilus widely used in Yoghurt's is one of these. Other bacteria do the opposite, bacterial balance and having the right species is about the only thing that can modulated your immune system, that's why they are so important...

ARCHIVED Ketotifen Fumarate And Other Mast Cell Stabilisers
foam posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I stumbled across a couple of articles about curing leaky gut with the help of mast cell stabilisers over the last few months and finally got my hands on some Ketotifen. I've been talking it for 3-4 days now and have already overcome the extreme sleepyness it caused on the first day. Because I have multiple problems I'm never sure what's the best way... -
I received my 100 capsules of Ketoferin, I've taken two so far.. gees it makes you sleepy, they say you gets used to it though. It certainly lets you eat without any gut pain and inflammation though. I'll let you know how it's going in a week or so

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Healed Some Of Their Intolerances?
foam replied to Maryw88's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
My doctor suggested to me that you need to take whatever amount of B12 you need to stay feeling good. He says it's different for everyone. In Australia doctors are totally happy with levels around 500 and don't really care if you go under 250. Originally mine only barely made the measurable scale at around 100. Everytime I got an injection of B12 I felt so... -

I was also in the low 20s and that was after a full summer where I tried to be outside often, who knows where it was the previous winter but I'm betting less than 10 (My wifes level was 16! and she spends more time in the sun than me and doesn't have any health issues). Vitamin D is very important for the gut and immune system, they keep finding out more... -

I also started with the 50,000 IU capsules ! , we just kept upping the dose until it started to soak in, I was doing one a week for a very long time. I think the regular ones I take now absorb a bit better though, so I take 4x1000 -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Healed Some Of Their Intolerances?
foam replied to Maryw88's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I was very deficient in B12 after gluten nearly killed me for 20 years so I soon came to be able to feel when I was getting low in B12 and when I wasn't. I need a B12 level of over 1000 to feel "right" so I get regular injections to keep it above 1000. Vitamin D is much more important again, you need it to keep your DNA good without errors, Because I have... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Healed Some Of Their Intolerances?
foam replied to Maryw88's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I haven't technically regained my lost foods but the reaction I get from them has halved, maybe even less than half at the moment. Basically I follow the usual theory. Don't do grains, vegetable oils, nightshades and go very heavy on the vitmain D and B12. That's what works -
ARCHIVED Mast Cells And Immunoglobulin Free Light Chains
foam replied to Laura Wesson's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Well this whole thing is about immune system dysregulation due to abnormal gut flora in the end, you can totally adjust all the levels in your immune system by eating different fermented foods with different cultures, I've done it myself but sometimes you need a little more help than that to repair the system so the normal flora can grow and thrive. I'm not... -
ARCHIVED Mast Cells And Immunoglobulin Free Light Chains
foam replied to Laura Wesson's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Larapiz, did you ever try Ketotifen? it's not available here but I've ordered some online, I've read it's been used to heal leaky gut by some experimental doctors in the past. Also an excellent mast cell stabilizer -
ARCHIVED Mast Cells And Immunoglobulin Free Light Chains
foam replied to Laura Wesson's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I had a bit more of a read about this the other day and apparently Kimura's disease comes with an increased amount of mast cells. One case was successfully treated with prankulast, I already knew that. I have been offered Singulair/ montelukast by my doctor before but haven't actually tried it yet. I'm surprised more people aren't going down the long... -
