    Brain Lesions

OMG I felt like you were talking about me in your post. I had one lesion back about 4 yrs ago after an MRI for severe sudden headaches. The doctor told me it was from smoking (lol yeah right) I've had the aura's without the headaches too and they've gone away now that I think of it since going gluten free as have the headaches.. hmmmm I have had digestive...
  3. Bad girl last night for supper... LOL Not gluten wise but FAT wise... I made buttermilk biscuits from my flour mix and sausage gravy.. OMG I haven't had biscuits and gravy for a year!!! It was fabulous... put that to the 'once in a while list' LOL Note: White Rice flour works very well for gravy!!
  4. Thanks I am doing pretty well and I'm sooo happy. Speaking of vacations I get to go to CA to my son's for two weeks next month.. the ocean breeze, the smell of the redwoods, and my grandson Henry... yay!! I may not come back. He's 13 months old already and called me the other day... too funny I answered the phone and I hear 'g'maaa?' Melted my heart...
  5. Molly, It's understandable that you'd have a 'meltdown' it's only been a little while and it's ok. I have my days when I curse Celiac and wish I could just have a slice of bread. I don't because I know the pain and other stuff that will happen. I've always been the 'cook and baker' among my friends and I'll tell you this... as time goes by (7 months...
  6. Hi there, I was diagnosed with Celiac last year and I'm 53 yrs old. I've had intermittent stomach issues all my life, hypoglycemia since I was 6, change to Diabetic at 40, now back to hypoglycemia. I have the genes so my doctors tell me I've had this all my life but in a 'mild' form and on and off. They also said that was a common thing which is why...
  7. IrishHeart - I can relate to what you have said here. I've had a similar experience with my family. They don't want to hear about it and don't want to deal with it so now I'm not invited to family get together's because of that 'gluten thing again' . My immediate family is good (my sons) and my Mother tries but she is stuck in her own little world...
  8. Very well put. I was going to comment but you said it all in your post.. Thank you!
  9. My sentiments exactly...!! I know I have my days where I curse this disease but in the end, We are the lucky ones because we HAVE to eat healthy!! My friends that are not gluten free always say "We should all eat like you do and we'd be better off' But they don't because they don't have a 'reason'. Having a reason makes it easier and I'm not sick anymore...
  10. I'm 7 months gluten free - My odd things that happened (and maybe not so odd but surprising to me) My diabetes has gotten so much better that I'm off medication completely and the flaking and peeling inside my ears has gone away... yay! I'll have to see about the mosquito's.. hmmm that would be cool!!
  11. I'm sorry you don't feel well and that it was Chex... I eat them all the time and can't imagine if I couldn't.. Feel better!!
  12. I buy my rice flour and tapioca starch in the oriental section at my store. 89 cents for a two lb bag!!! I bet you could find a good deal at an asian grocery store if there is one near you.

    ARCHIVED Chili's

This happened to me today. I went out for lunch with a group from work to celebrate and I picked the place because there was something for everyone. I had eaten there before so thought I'd be safe. I ordered an omelet and potatoes and specifically told the waitress no toast, I can't have wheat. Not wanting to create more havoc than I already had with...
  14. I do the same sublingual B12 every morning. If I forget it, I get the sores on the corners of my mouth by the end of the day
  15. I bet I'm too late for dinner huh? Wow that sounds good!!
  16. I got my brand new waffle baker in the mail today so I made homemade gluten free waffles with my new flour mix I made up and they were wonderful!!! my non gluten free son loved them too. I will never buy frozen cardboard again!!! Sorry Van's but I only speak the truth LOL
  17. I will have to try them out. I haven't been there since going gluten free.. Thanks for the tip!
  18. I use the garfava flour when I'm making chocolate recipes because they tend to have a 'metallic' taste before they're baked and the chocolate kills that. My chocolate cupcakes are a favorite of my friends and family and coworkers and they can't tell the difference between gluten free and regular. For a lighter taste in other baked goods I use white rice...
  19. Lucky you.... does he have a brother !!!
  20. This is a new restaurant in my city and I thought it would be ok. I think if they knew the waitress was telling people this stuff they'd can her. Also, at 9:30am there were no other customers in the restaurant... hmmmm should have been a sign. They have a natural foods store attached and I think the restaurant (which in my opinion will be closed within...
  21. What you have described is me before I was diagnosed with Celiac and went gluten free..
  22. I buy the Hormel Natural Choice all the time and I've never had a problem with it. Hope you figure it out so you can avoid what ever caused it..
  23. Spelt is not gluten free, it is a wheat product. I don't care for many of the gluten free breads but I do think that Udi's white is ok for sandwiches as well as Kinnicinick Hamburger Buns. The buns are about $5.00 for 5 of them but at $1.00 a piece that's not bad but with two teens.. hmmm might want to try and make your own buns, rolls, etc. I haven...
  24. I've made biscuits from scratch before and they were awesome. I haven't tried Gluten Free Bisquick. GLUTEN-FREE BISCUITS 2 CUP RICE FLOUR 4 TSP BAKING POWDER
  25. Went to a local Gluten Free restaurant for breakfast today. I had waffles, bacon, and berry coulis.. it was good tasting but when the waitress told me it was all made from a mix I was ticked off. For the price they charged and then to tell me that it's Pamela's mix... grrr I could have made that at home which I will do from now on... grrrrrr No one...
