  1. My biggest positive in all this is 'my diabetes is virtually gone'... !!!!! Yay! I've also been able to get off of medications for Diabetes, Restless Legs, and the stomach pain and nausea!!! I felt like my whole life was going down the proverbial tube and now I have energy and a new zest for life.. and last but by far not least and maybe the most important...

    ARCHIVED #*@($ !#*^% Doctor!

Oh how I can relate... When I saw my regular doctor on May 6th, he was concerned that my blood pressure was higher than normal. I said yeah well there is a reason for that and he said really what is it? I blew a cork at him.. I told him I was furious at the medical profession and that none of them helped me all my life and it took 3 years of me being...
  4. Hi Sara, Welcome to Celiac, the disease that none of us wants but are happy to finally have a name for the lifetimes of misery we've suffered. I've been gluten free for 6 months now and I have to be honest, I feel better than I did when I was a child. Most of my medical conditions that were diagnosed prior to Celiac have gone away or are much better...
  5. I've been gluten free for 6 months now and I'm feeling better than ever BUT I still get the rumbly grumbly stomach noise after I eat sometime. No pain just a lot of noise...
  6. My top ten snack list is pretty similar to everyone else's. 1. Organic oranges (they are wonderful right now) 2. Strawberries 3. corn/rice chex with chocolate chips and peanuts mixed in (no milk) 4. popcorn (made on the stove) 5. veggies and homemade hummus 6. Rice crackers and cheese 7. Watermelon 8. Cottage cheese and peaches 9. cashews 10.CHOBANI...
  7. Popped whole grain sorghum? So you pop it like popcorn? Sounds interesting
  8. Thank you for the recipe!!
  9. I just tried the Schar cheese bites and they are good.. I ate the whole bag!!! they aren't exactly like goldfish but similar..
  10. I ate at an authentic African restaurant this weekend. The couple are from Africa and their entire menu is gluten free naturally. meat, vegetables, spices, and rice. If you eat what the locals eat and stay away from packaged food you should be good. happy travels to you
  11. I use that flour mix for chocolate cake and other recipes that have cocoa in them.. you don't taste the bean flour after it's baked. I haven't tried a yellow cake yet but I will be soon so I'll let you know. I've read that the bean flavor goes away after it's cooked but from the sounds of things here it doesn't completely Chocolate lot's of...
  12. Sleep - 3 mg of Melatonin at night does the trick for me. I also have a CPAP machine as my tests weren't normal. I have Central Sleep Apnea. Don't snore, don't have an obstruction, just a brain that forgets to tell me to breath when it's sleeping. I think it feels like it's worked hard all day and it needs it's rest too... (just making light of me...
  13. Same here Ravenwoodglass. Sounds to me like Mr JustforJen is in denial and doesn't want to give up his gluten so he's hoping she doesn't have it or can cheat. shaking head. oh the games we play in our minds. A positive blood test is a positive blood test... be happy they found it and she didn't have to be sick for her whole life. Merely my opinion...

ARCHIVED Dr Said Not To Eliminate Gluten

If a person is Diabetic they can't take 'a little bit of insulin'... This outrages me. I wish someone would have taken the time to notice my issues when I was 6 yrs old because a life time of this was not fun. Any doctor that would say something like that should have his MD taken away. If we can research the disease for ourselves then a gastro doctor...
  15. For meatloaf and meatballs I use crushed rice crackers and for breading I found some gluten free corn flake crumbs.
  16. I typically just tell them I can't have wheat and they understand. Although out for breakfast a few weeks ago I ordered an omelet with meat and veggies and a side of potatoes and told the waitress no toast please and please ask them not to even put my food near the toast I can't have wheat. She smiled and said "Would you like pancakes instead?" LOL ...

    ARCHIVED Dentist

If that office happened to have a sloppy scrubber of instruments, and their autoclave wasn't a type that destroyed proteins...that could be a problem. You can get glutened from gluten on a previous patient's teeth (and isn't that a lovely thought?). Oh My is that a gross thought or what? ewwwww
  18. My favorite thing to do is cook and bake. I haven't had much luck with the breads either. I've tried the Chebe roll mix and they were tasty but kind of like a dense cream puff shell and too 'eggy' for me. Also the outside was too hard and knocked my jaw out of whack for a few days! ... So you are not alone in your quest for 'real' tasting bread. ...
  19. You know I just noticed in the last few weeks that my calves especially my left one are tight and sometimes sore. I walk on my heels for a few minutes and then on my toes and it eases. I had so much pain before in every part of my body that I tend to ignore the calf ache but now that you mentioned it.. I have that too!!
  20. I made a chocolate cake from an old family recipe but gluten free and took it to a party a few weeks ago and no one had a clue it was gluten free... LOL They begged me for the recipe and I said I couldn't give it to them because then I'd have to... well you know the line. But they didn't even notice the difference. When I took a piece and started...
  21. You are so welcome. I'm not an expert on this at all but I feel wonderful and have tons of energy that I never had before. Good luck to you and Nat as you begin this journey. Any help I can give along the way let me know. You can friend me if you want. *Judy
  22. I'm not really an old timer on here just 4 months but I have had digestive issues all my life, low blood sugar, diabetes, diagnosed with IBS, Fibromyalgia, you name it and I was on the verge of it. I finally got deathly ill this past summer/fall and my doctors started to think that all these individual diagnosis' were incorrect. So they dug deeper and...
  23. Going gluten free is not the easiest thing in the world to do. Our society is overloaded with gluten containing foods. I've been gluten free for 4 months now and it does get easier with time. I'm good at home, I can find all the foods I want and need at my local grocery store. The only time I have an issue is eating out which occurs quite frequently...
  24. I am in the same category. I've had hypoglycemia since I was 6 yrs old. It went the other way for a few years to Diabetes and the doctors think it was from my body fighting the Celiac. Now that I'm gluten free for almost 4 months, the hypoglycemia is back. Have to be careful when I exercise as my blood sugar drops into the 50's sometimes and I can...
