Judy3 replied to heatherjane's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've had the Milky Way Simply caramel several times in the last few months with no issues!! -
I buy my spices for cooking and baking at The Spice House here in Wisconsin. I order them online and was grateful to find this message on their website today. Gluten and Allergen Information The Spice House seasonings are gluten free! Due to increasing awareness of gluten-related health issues, we've worked to eliminate wheat gluten from our products...

I just found out my reaction to gluten for the first time today since going gluten free. I went to a party, brought my own food and the hostess guaranteed me that the chicken wings had no gluten she checked everything... uh huh! Right now I'm in severe pain under my left ribs, feel like I'm going to hurl, and want to sleep. I will NEVER again take...

Good Luck with that!! I just came back from a trip and the only thing in most airports I could eat was fruit and milk or a salad (most had croutons on them already though) Bring snacks!!!

ARCHIVED Should I Have An Endoscopy...
Judy3 replied to Kate79's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello Kate, I was diagnosed this past November not based on an endoscopy biopsy. He went by my symptoms, my history, and my genetic tests.. He said he wasn't going to put me through all that as tests results are 'iffy' at best. I was told that as long as I had the genes (DQ2) and the symptoms and the irritation in my intestinal tract that he say with... -
I am an IT systems analyst. I spend my days at a computer trying to right the wrongs that so many people make on a gigantic computer system that is world wide. I have 2 grown sons, 2 cats and I love to read, cook and bake (getting kinda good at gluten free goodies heehee) I have decided to buy a lottery ticket every week now because I want to retire...

I don't blame you for not taking IBS as a diagnosis. They tried that on me too. As for the ribbons yup been there done that right before being diagnosed with Celiac. Since I've been gluten free 3 months and a few weeks, I've gone through the run of them all and now to fairly normal (I think! what is normal when you've been sick mildly all your life...

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
Judy3 replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Tonight, I had gluten free pasta with frozen vegetable mix of broccoli, green beans, carrots, kidney beans, white beans, black beans, added some garlic and onion and topped with parmesan. mmmmm my go to meal when I don't feel like cooking anything big. I was in CA last week and for my son's birthday I made him a chocolate cake (regular not gluten free... -
I can so relate to this post. I was through the 'wringer' so to speak for years, sick as a child all the time. I thought everyone had nausea all the time when they ate so I didn't complain. I'm 53 years old and was diagnosed 3 months ago. I haven't felt this good in my entire life. I would love to rant and rave at the doctors too but have decided...

ARCHIVED 3 Month Check After Diagnosis And More
Judy3 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello all. I just got back from a week long trip to Northern California to see my son and his family. Had a great time and plenty of gluten free food available. The zucchini muffin at the North Coast Co-op was to die for!!! I made chocolate cake for my son's birthday party, one regular and one gluten free (with Bob's Red Mill baking flour but the same... -

ARCHIVED What Helps You Fight Cravings?
Judy3 replied to possiblyglutensensitive's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I made pizza the other day with Hodgson Mills pizza crust mix. It was good! Top it with whatever you like. I've been craving toast the last two days (probably because I've seen my non gluten free mother and she talks about her morning toast ALL THE TIME lol So I bought some UDI's bread tonight so I can have a piece of toast. You just have to... -
ARCHIVED Kinnikinnick English Muffins
Judy3 replied to Diane-in-FL's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just said to myself yesterday I'm done with gluten free breads because I haven't found one yet that I can stomach. They are either gritty, smell awful, or are just plain dry and nasty (Glutino Sesame bagels? ackkk) I've tried every one I can find here and also made my own but it didn't rise so it was gross. We don't have Rudi's here (so everyone can... -
ARCHIVED Is It Too Late To Eat Gluten Before My Endoscopy?
Judy3 replied to Annabelle882's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think you are too late to do a gluten load from what I've read and experienced. My initial blood tests came back negative mostly because I was so sick that I didn't eat anything but cottage cheese and jello for several months before the test. But my doctor said he went by symptoms, what he saw in the endoscope (lots of damage) and then did the genetic... -
ARCHIVED Feeling Like An Outcast
Judy3 replied to Iluvaceliac's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
In the course of 2 months on the gluten free diet, I have found who my true friends are and who didn't really care and were in it for other reasons. Those that truly care about me are quick to learn about this and accomodate me even if it means I bring my own food. Those that said 'Oh that gluten thing again' are no longer in my life and I don't miss... -

PIZZA!!! I had pizza for the first time since going gluten free and it was good! Hodgson Mills gluten free pizza crust (yummy) I added a tsp of garlic powder and a tsp of oregano to the dough (a hint from a fellow shopper in the gluten free section) and topped it with mozzarella cheese, onions, peppers and mushrooms and a bit of parmesan. Oh and a salad... -
ARCHIVED Baking Cookies Specifically Chocolate Chip
Judy3 replied to Marlie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I too am the baker in my family and friends groups. I have found success with the flour recipe from the Artisanal Gluten Free Cooking cookbook. You prepare the mix ahead and it keeps in the refrigerator for months. I made frosted sugar cookies for Christmas and my mother couldn't tell the difference!! I use this flour mix for cookies, pancakes and... -

ARCHIVED I Thought I Had It Figured Out....maybe Not
Judy3 replied to jessicalw28's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your descriptions (most of it) sound like me before going gluten free. I don't have the anxiety issues but all the rest sounds very familiar. I am only 2 1/2 months gluten free so I still sometimes have the stools you mention but not every day anymore. It's getting better every day. Personally, I think you should try longer and see if it starts getting...
