  1. I am vegetarian and have been my whole life. There are plenty of things to eat that are gluten free and vegetarian. It is tougher eating out, but it can be done. Try gluten free pastas for sure. We also eat tons of Pamela's pancake mix. Find a good bread that is gluten free and that will help. We eat brown rice and beans, veges, fruits, corn tortillas, avocadoes...
  2. I have a friend that used goats milk for her son and it worked for him. It wouldn't hurt to try. I used to be an RN in the NICU and it is true that whatever adjustments you make to her feedings need to be gradually. This is always how it is done. I am sorry you are having such a hard time. My son was sick for so long and my older son had two surgeries on...
  3. I have wondered the same thing a bit. I grew up eating a ton of gluten products or meat substitutes. Although some of them always made my stomach hurt for a long time before I found out I had celiac. Soy doesn't agree with me very well either. I have read that you can develop intolerances to things you overeat. I think in general people over eat wheat....
  4. I am doing better for the past two days. WHich is like a miracle. I am taking quite a few supplements, which I have done before, but I am being consistent. Where do you get Mag. citrate. I have a mag and calcium supplement called "BOne Up" and it says protects colorectal health on the bottle. I am taking Probiotics without Dairy in them. The other one's I...
  5. I don't know what to tell you. My son was very tiny at a year old from undiagnosed celiac. He was not even on the chart for weight, but height was on the chart barely. Now his weight is on the chart barely and his height just seems to stay the same. It is very frustrating. He is not even on the chart for height and he is 26 months and looks about a year old...
  6. Thanks Burdee, I am will try a good magnesium supplement, but I have tried some kind of magnesium I know. I cut back though and haven't been as faithful. My problem seems to be more of a coordination of my GI muscles or a slow moving thing. I never have that hard of stools, but if I go a day without going, I seem to have spasms in my intestines that are very...
  7. I haven't tried goat cheese or anything, but my dad gave us goats milk one time without telling us and it was NASTY to say the least. It was a long time ago and I still remember it. I will probably just not eat any. I am not good at though. I want something to put in coffee that is dairy free. Any suggestions? I do need to try and be dairy free I know. I...
  8. I am hoping it is dairy, because I have consumed more then I should at times. I am trying to find stuff I can eat, because nothing seems to agree with me. It is very frustrating and I feel better without dairy for just the past day. Actually I did have M&M's. Do those count?? Yeah, I know they do. I am mainly cutting out drinking milk, cheese and icecream...
  9. Floridian, I am sorry you are feeling rotten. I feel the same way most of the time. Saturday evening and night I was SO miserable. Crying and feeling like I would be better off not living this miserable life of being sick to my stomach in some way at all times and not being able to eat. I hardly ate anything yesterday and so I lose more weight too. My family...
  10. Nectarines, apples, brocolli, salads, prunes, pears, flaxseeds ground, blueberries, beans and brown rice. If I just add these things to the diet I am usually following, I end up very bloated and I don't go anyway. For some reason if I drink citrucel it keeps me regular, but I still end up with spastic colon or something every once in a while. I can't seem...
  11. Your son could have rotavirus?? It causes vomiting and then diarhea for awhile after. Days to weeks. It is a nasty bug. I am not saying that he wasn't gluttened, but just another suggestion of what may be wrong with him. Is he eating very well?? Monica
  12. Thanks for the ideas. I am willing to try anything at this point. I am very frustrated. Now I just drank an ensure and feel sick! UGH! Will I ever learn. I need to quit dairy all together. I just don't know what to replace it with since I am vegetarian and I don't seem to be able to handle very much fiber. THat is why I drink citrucel, which I despise! ...
  13. TUms and rolaids make my heartburn worse. I don't know why, but they don't help at all! I have been taking Prilosec again. I read somewhere that Orange peel extract can cure heartburn. Bought some today and I am taking it, but it was $30.00 for a box of 10 and they recommend 1000mg a day for 20 days. It has a patent on it. I am not very hopeful though...
  14. I have this problem too. For me though, it is more IBS related. Before going gluten free I would go back and forth between C and D. Now mostly C. So Psyllium just seems to tear my stomach up and give me bloating and pain. If I eat too much fiber I am in trouble. THe thing that helps me the most is drinking citrucel twice a day. It is frustrating, because...
  15. I can totally relate. I am one of those that doesn't trust restaurants and can't stand asking for special things. Before I found out about celiac, I seemed to almost always feel sick after eating out, especially if it was at night. I never ate at buffets. We just had a church picnic and I didn't want to go, because I get tired of being different and it...
  16. A year ago I was in the same boat you are. I was on vacation for two months and was very sick. I felt for sure it was celiac, because my son had just been diagnosed. I felt SO aweful I decided to go gluten free and see how it went. I felt so much better I was thrilled. Then two months later decided to have the blood work done. It came back borderline for...
  17. It could be eating out. I almost always get gluttened when eating out. I just dont' eat out hardly ever! I get fatigue and bone pain when I am gluttened. THis was a MAJOR problem before I found out I had celiac. I was exhausted. I am fine now though. I would try and take a break from eating out for a while and see if you feel better. Hopefully it will pass...
  18. Do you have to be dairy free?? Could you try reintroducing just small amounts? I can handle it in small to moderate amounts. Maybe since you have healed enough you could tolerate it. If you have an allergy to it, then that is out. I understand your "pain". I have times when I feel so desperately hungry and deprived of regular food and then most of the time...
  19. I have the same thing. I feel as if something is "crawling in my intestines"!! It doesn't pain, but it is uncomfortable and very annoying. It seems to be worse at bedtime. It isn't like normal gas passing or anything I have ever experienced. There is no audible noise with mine at all. Mine has been better the past two nights. I started taking digestive enzymes...
  20. Describes my mom to a T! This is literally exactly what my mom does. It drives me crazy. Sometimes she is supportive and other times she says it is in my head. If I have a reaction and mention it to her, she will always say it is from anything, but gluten. It is either Soy or my poor diet or I don't eat enough. My diet isn't poor and I eat enough. I find...
  21. My doctor wouldn't even do the gene test on me. HE says that it wouldn't tell you anything, because they haven't identified all the genes for celiac disease. SO just because you don't have the gene doesn't mean you don't have the it. Sounds like you have your answers. Monica
  22. I too am vegetarian and having troubles. I don't have D. I have C. I am giving up dairy to see if that does help. It is frustrating though. I like you can't bring myself to eat meat. I have always been vegetarian and I wouldn't know how to cook it and just can't do it. My mom even says she wishes she had raised me to eat meat, because now I don't have as...
  23. I thought tape worms came off like a piece of rice?? I don't know though. HOpefully you will find out soon. Monica
  24. Lowered immune system, too much sugar, even fruits and juices. I have struggled with yeast for years on and off. I have gone a year without any infections. I had one last month and just used Monistat. It worked. I think though, that I have it in my GI tract and maybe that is why I have this rumbly feeling in my lower stomach. It is strange to say the least...
  25. Environkids makes great animal cookies that are vanilla flavored I believe. My other kids like them and so do I. They would look like sand when all crunched up I think. Monica
