  1. Itchy with little red spots overlaid on the red area from the psoriasis. My fingers still get wet when I scratch. And there are still some red spots on the clear skin around the psoriasis patch. Those seem to itch more than the others. They seem to be working their way up toward my ankle. That's one of the reasons I know it's not psoriasis. My psoriasis is...
  2. I too have problems with corn. I finally got to the point where I could tolerate corn starch (but no corn, corn oil, or corn syrup), but then I got glutened and now I'm intolerant to corn starch again. Here is a good source for info about the places corn hides, and I warn you, it is in EVERYTHING!! Vitamin fortified? The carrier for the vitamins is usually...
  3. You know, one of the best cleaners is often overlooked. Dishwashing liquid and water. Cuts grease, doesn't stink, and it's cheap and easy to use. I put about a quarter inch into a spray bottle, fill it with water, and spray away. On some surfaces you will want to rinse using another spray bottle with plain water, but on kitchen counters and the like you don...
  4. Nothing new, Shadow. Same soap, same socks and shoes, no new food items. I went looking at the DH photo bank pictures and my red dots look sort of like some of them but it's hard to tell because they are on top of the red patches from the psoriasis. Where it itches outside of that area there are a couple of red dots too. Not a thing on my hands, which used...
  5. OK, so I have palmoplantar pustular psoriasis. It is about gone on my hands and my feet were almost completely healed too. After the cookie crumb incident two or three months ago, my feet got bad again. They haven't healed yet but that's not unusual. The feet take a LOT longer to heal anyway. But here's the thing: there are no whitehead pimple-looking...
  6. Don't mess around with this. Go to the emergency room. NOW. A friend of mine had the same sensations that lasted for weeks, then went away. It came back a few weeks later, then it went away again. The third time he finally went to the ER and found out that he had been having heart attacks. As a matter of fact, pretty much the same thing happened to my...
  7. If you think you have DH, you might want to see a GOOD dermatoligist. From what I have read here, a lot of DH victims don't get the villi damage because the disease manifests in the skin instead. You need to make sure the derm biopsies a spot of CLEAR skin right next to an ACTIVE lesion. So if your blood tests come back negative, go see a dermatologist...
  8. I just looked up "vegetable wash". I found only one for "industrial" uses. The site willnot disclose the ingredients but it sounds pretty scary to me. It can disolve oild and waxes, it is not to be taken internally, and the container must be disposed of properly. Open Original Shared Link
  9. Do you have any trouble with corn? I ask because most bagged salads are washed in a citrus wash, and that citrus comes from corn.
  10. Psoriasis is one of the symptoms of celiac. If you adhere to a STRICTLY gluten-free diet and notice within a few weeks that your psoriasis is starting to clear up you'll know you're on the right track. Mine did. Now, unless I get glutened or exposed to any of my other intolerances, I am psoriasis-free. Read the "Newbie 101" thread to learn all of the...
  11. I just checked out McCormick's website and I must say, they have a very user UNfriendly site. It's mostly recipes and not a lot of info. There is no FAQ, and when I typed gluten into their searchbox it cam up empty. That being said, I know that seasonings MAY contain gluten. It gives a list of spices that are in it, but doesn't mention anything else....
  12. Maybe this will help? Open Original Shared Link
  13. Lot's of heartfelt prayers coming your way. (((((HUGS)))))
  14. Yep. You have gluten withdrawal. You'll be feeling pretty lousy for a week or two but then it'll stop. But if you're not done testing you really shouldn't go gluten-free yet.
  15. Melissa, I don't think there is a single one of us who didn't go through a period of mourning. I think most of us had meltdowns at the grocery store at first. Trying to adjust, learn, adapt, and overcome, all while you are feeling so lousy is so overwhelming. But I PROMISE it will get easier. After a while you don't even think about it anymore. You just eat...
  16. PosterChild, your posts are getting buried in these old threads. If you don't mind a suggestion, why don't you start a new thread of your own. Introduce yourself, tell us some more about your symptoms and your diet. One of they symptoms of celiac is neurological so that feeling of depersonalization doesn't surprise me. It doesn't even surprise me that...
  17. What are you eating? It would seem to me that you probably had a B12 defiency all along and it is only a coincedence that it is becoming symptomatic now. My Mom had undiagnosed celiac for years and years. She had so much damage that she never fully healed and had to get B12 injections for the rest of her life. After my Dad died she kind of gave up...
  18. I don't have the funds or insurance to get tested either, so I just went gluten-free. When my symptoms cleared up, that was good enough for me. There IS a learning curve though. You should go to the "Newbie 101" thread and learn all of the ways that cross-contamination can happen. And be prepared to go through gluten withdrawal. You'll probably feel pretty...
  19. I'm confused. Why would you think wheat is NOT a problem? You had a reaction. Sure, maybe it wasn't gastro but a LOTof us don't get gastro symptoms. You probably do have other food intolerances AS WELL. Many of us do. The best way to find out is to stick to a whole foods diet for AT LEAST six months before trying soy or dairy or anything else you suspect...
  20. Your doctor should definitely test you for vitamin deficiencies. If you have been celiac for this long you haven't been absorbing the nutrients you need so you will probably have to supplement. Maybe that is what he is talking about when he says he wants to do some blood tests? If not, ask him to do so. And yes, if your kids are having stomach issues...
  21. Is irritability common among celiac patients? WHY THE @#*^#** DO YOUWANT TO KNOW???!!!! In other words, yes. I get EXTREMELY grumpy when I have been glutened. Or corned, or exposed to any of my many intolerances.
  22. And try to get them to eat "gluten heavy" again until testing is done.
  23. I have to have ALL my meds made at the compouding pharmacy because of my corn intolerance. Fortunately, I don't have to take any meds on a regular basis, just my Tylenol and an occasional antibiotic. The last time I needed Tylenol they were out of the ingredients for the pills so they gave me a liquid. It was more expensive than the pills ($47) and there...
  24. I just checked Milo's website and they said "gluten is a protein from wheat and there is no wheat used in Milo's". It doesn't say anything about barley (or rye, which I doubt they use), but I would contact them via e-mail or phone to confirm there is no barley used, or that they don't process anything else on their machinery that might contain barley or wheat...
  25. Although normally I would suggest a whole foods diet (meat, veggies, fruits and nuts), in your son's case I can reccommend that you find replacements for his favorite foods. Tell us what they are and we can help. In the meantime, there are some good gluten-free breads available at your health food store. Udi's multi-grain is sort of like french bread...
