  1. Bahahahaha! I almost choked on my lunch.
  2. After about a year I did cleaned the kitchen. Did a top to bottom on my parts of the kitchen and plan to again over the winter after the holidays and my birthday, which is also my diagnosis anniversary. My husband is awesome about everything and is frequently in the kitchen with me so reviewing with him is unnecessary as it is sort of an ongoing process with...
  3. I don't know about that. Us mormons might take that as a challenge! I've always been a fan of the pierogi casserole, but I suppose that isn't really a cheap thing for us gluten free people to throw together. It is really easy though! Of course, this is from the person who still screws up cooking rice.
  4. Psh, they lived in PA before they moved. They should consider AR a tropical paradise in comparison!
  5. Haha. I was talking to my daughter yesterday in AR and it was mid-60s there. She had to go outside and was getting a coat. Not a jacket, a COAT!!! I'd be out in a freakin t-shirt. And my kids both wish it snowed more. They'd probably both freeze to death. We had snow yesterday. Instead of the overnight snow that melts away first thing we had snow all...
  6. It's meatloaf night. My husband always makes some lame joke about hating my meatloaf but he always eats it so it can't be bad because he flat out doesn't eat things he doesn't like. I'll probably make tater wedges to go with it and I'll dig a veggie out of the freezer for myself. Dessert will be polishing off my Indian pudding with a large scoop of vanilla...
  7. "Find the healthiest person you can stand" and so many other little things. The guy isn't just amazingly brilliant. He's hilarious.
  8. Hey, I didn't start this mac & cheese thing! I was just trying to help.
  9. Not sure. I use rice flour since I always used to use flour for my mac and cheese. Butter + rice flour. Add milk. Cook til thickesh, add cheese. I've heard of doing it with corn starch but never seen a recipe or tried it.
  10. I use Bob's cornmeal. I don't think I would ever use a non-certified one without at least calling and checking on it.
  11. Oh and I totally was gonna say the best thing about the pudding is that it totally pretends to taste like pumpkin pie without the pumpkin. So for us it's like a super bonus! My husband doesn't like it. He's a weirdo.
  12. Mmmmmmm curry. Yum! Our breakfast for dinner got pushed to tonight. So, pumpkin waffles and sausage. If he's really hungry I'll probably make him a pepperjack omelet too. Ugh.... I'm still cleaning up after that mess the heating vent guy left. I swear all he did was knock a bunch of dirt and dust out of the vents to leave all over the freakin house...
  13. Not recommended. From top down things fall into lower bins, people double dip with scoops and when it comes to flours and such there is usually a dust in the air if it's a small room that they're kept in. That said, I do shop bulk I simply do so in the only safe way. I order full boxes/bags from customer service as long as I know what company the stuff...
  14. I drink 2+ gallons of milk a week, usually +. Not depressed. I also eat grains, almost as if consuming them is a religion in and of itself. Also, if it weren't actually against my religion I'd drink coffee like it's a religion. That's seriously not a joke either. (Quitting coffee was harder than quitting smoking!) Pretty sure, being coffee-less, a former...
  15. I call them bread butts, but I do the same thing. I just keep them in the freezer until I need breadcrumbs, toast them in the toaster then put them in my food processor. I don't think I ever buy regular flavored Chex so they wouldn't work out well for me, but I have been known to use other cereals for breading as a coating.
  16. So I just managed to get that autumn Indian pudding in the oven. It takes an entire 90 minutes to bake! I tasted it though after I cooked it, because who doesn't lick spatulas? Holy crapola!TM Good stuff! I never thought I'd find such an outstanding recipe from freakin Yahoo. If anyone else is feeling ambitious and wants something that tastes like fall, and...
  17. I know this may sound terribly insensitive, but I can't think of anyone I know who would go on a hike 3 days after they were glutened. It's like signing up for extra punishment. What a body needs after that is time to heal, and while you may not have been feeling particularly awful you did something that was very physically demanding when your body was trying...
  18. So glad it isn't something more serious. The possibilities with those symptoms were positively scary! And hey, there are worse things to live without than oats. It's doubtful that she'll remember her oatmeal mornings and there are other hot cereals she should be able to have if you want to keep giving her hot cereal with winter fast approaching. (Or already...
  19. You... boil his brains and eyes? Pass. Yay for feeling better! Before you know it you'll be back at the beach keeping an eye on the beach bums for good cabana boy candidates. You know you could probably get away with taking a ton of pics. Just be all "I just moved here and I'm taking pics of the beach for my friends." They'll never know about our...
  20. I had no doubt that you meant you cut yourself on the actual foil, not the foil box. That had to take some serious skill. I think the only downside of Utah is that all the seafood we get is either frozen or looks questionable at best. We do have some beautiful fresh fish from the lakes though, if you're into trout or catfish. OMG though, would it kill...
  21. This tends to happen when rules in place for your own good get broken. Happens in my house too. I usually glare back, whine and moan and finally reluctantly comply. Tonight we'll have leftover pulled pork. I used up my last burger bun last night so I think I'll just make mashed taters to put mine over. I also saw a recipe for something called autumn...
  22. You can use any starch in place of cornstarch to thicken a sauce or gravy. I've gotten and used free sample packs of rice and tapioca starch specifically for that purpose and they work just as well. I know not everyone does it the same way, but I just make a slurry and whisk it into seasoned, boiling drippings or broth. I like this method because I can gauge...
  23. Yeah, that's the excuse we'll use. There probably isn't a better explanation for a whole collections of Lucy's in one place anyway.
  24. I'm pretty much free entertainment for my husband every time I open my mouth. I always seem to accidentally leave an opening for him to take a cheap shot at me. And of course he's a cheap date, he's a guy. All he wants is a beer and to see something nekkid.
  25. omg you are funny! That paints a really great mental image.
