ARCHIVED Another Boring Plea! But I Am So Upset!
1desperateladysaved replied to MGR's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Greetings MGR, Welcome! I think I have seen your pretty flower around First a question, How do you know you have DH? Is it officially diagnosed. I see RW beat me to saying so, but if it is you have celiac! The sightings during the biopsy would back it up. I don't know, though how the final outcome of the biopsy was negative. I would ask the...- 10 replies

ARCHIVED Do Any Of These Symptoms Sound Like Celiac Disease?
1desperateladysaved replied to brendastarr's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My genetics were 2 copies of DQ2 and 2 copies of DQ8...Totally positive. I received genes from both father and mother's sign. Neither family had diagnosed celiac. There have been many gallbladder issues, and diabetes. I think diabetes is on one of those genes. Yes, my health is improving. I feel so much better! I hope all of the same for you about... -

There is a book about the SCD diet. "Breaking the Vicious Cycle." It is written by Elaine Gottschall B.A. M.S.c. Their is a website associated with it that tells the legal foods. I got a used copy online for a couple of dollars. This type of diet has been helpful to me. D -
Shea butter moistens hair/scalp very well. With my flat hair, I usee a kind called "Beautiful Curls", it is a leave in conditioner. I am trying to make plain shea butter to work, but it leaves my hair looking oil. I haven't mastered getting just a little bit. Homemade shampoo bars are great for the scalp and hair. If you don't have any of them, you...

ARCHIVED Is It The "g Word?"
1desperateladysaved replied to Starving Amy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am glad you are checking in to this. I believe you should check for celiac disease. You must be eating gluten for the blood tests to be valid. After that whether the blood tests are positive or negative, you should try going 100% gluten free. Since you are eating mostly plants, make sure you get enough protein. I felt the absolute worse when I drifted... -

Yes, It sounds like celiac! But now when you are thinking of it perhaps you could get tested for it! You need to keep eating gluten until you are tested. You need to get a FULL celiac panel. Here are some of the symptoms which you share as I had: Dental problems. I guess you were taking care of your teeth and eating well when your cavities showed... -
My functional Medicine Nurse has a blanket celiac diet that excludes Soy for everyone. However, I do not know the reason for it. D

ARCHIVED I'm Not Getting Better, Actually Getting Worse
1desperateladysaved replied to answerseeker's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Healing was not all uphill for me. BUT just because you don't feel so well just now, doesn't mean you are not being delivered. I would still see you as heading up the hill, even if you are currently walking through a dip! I often experienced my highest highs just after my lowest lows. Some of my answers were complicated. Hang in there and keep walking... -
ARCHIVED Things To Help With Healing.

To heal gut: Learn about and stay away from eating all gluten. Read every label. It takes a while to get good at this, and after 20 months I still make mistakes! Probiotics-Yes. Digestive enzymes: According to my functional medicine nurse, when villi in the small intestine are damaged they can't do their job of telling the pancreas to fire... -
I am looking forward to some of your 9 days which could lie ahead! I hope. I saw some of my vast transitional symptoms at 8 months gluten free, so who knows? All of the best. D

I hope you are not feeling overwhelmed. It sounds like you are making your way. You are doing just what you should be for your children. The doctors sound like they are not very helpful. It takes a while to learn the diet and to heal from celiac. All the best to you. D

ARCHIVED Celiac Without Intestinal Problems?
1desperateladysaved replied to Nick-incollege's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My main gripes before diagnosis were brain fog and fatigue. Since I had a large family and plenty to do, nobody thought that these symptoms were something to look into! Many doctors don't know these can be symptoms of celiac without diarrhea or extreme weight loss. I have since I was diagnosed had my doubts, but many things line up pointed to celiac. ... -

I have a powdered pro-biotic that I just add to water. It contains nothing but the pro-biotic organisms. I have started to search for supplements which are as simple as possible and Restore Probiotic does the triickfor me. I get it on-line I pay around 20 dollars and the little can lasts for over 3 months. Perhaps the pro-biotic working makes the noise... -
ARCHIVED Bloating - Help? :(
1desperateladysaved replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I dreamed of doing an ALCAT test, but my doctor didn't offer it. However, I had a good experience using Genova Food Intolerance testing. They tested 60 foods and I had problems with 49. When I cut these foods out of my diet, my mind cleared. These tests are not yet qualified for insurance companies in the states yet. The rotational diet that came with... -

ARCHIVED What Do You Look For In A Doctor?
1desperateladysaved posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I have noticed on the forum that we have different ideas of what we want in health care. Sometimes it is hard to support each other when that is the case. So on this occasion of that I need to find a new MD (mine retired) I have been thinking about what I want in a caregiver. Here is my list: Respects the patient considering their input is valid... -

Have you considered a yeast infection? Do you crave sweets? I itch when I detox yeast. I think I was detoxing yeast when I smelled it on my skin. It usually occurs in me after discontinuing an unsafe food which I had been eating a lot of. I believe that the yeast can have a feast on undigested foods. D -
ARCHIVED What Exactly Do Your Abdominal Pains Feel Like?
1desperateladysaved replied to Becca78's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I didn't really feel pain in my gut when I had undiagnosed celiac. I noticed bloating. Sometimes I felt pressure, but once I bloated 9 inches (and 9 pounds over night) with no pain. Since going gluten free I have occassionally felt sudden sharp pains. For a couple of days I had sharp pain in the lower left quadrant. When I eat pumpkin I get a pulsating... -

Do you know of any problem with corn? Many supplements have some form of corn in them I have heard. ARCHIVED Spit Test For Celiac?
1desperateladysaved replied to ButtercupSarah's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think someone talked about it on the gluten summit. They said it is a saliva test for antibodies for gluten. When I asked about it on the forum someone said it is unproven. The forum as a whole supports the use of blood tests. -
ARCHIVED So Discouraged, Hypoclycemic And Stomach Inflamation
1desperateladysaved replied to CynthiaSt's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am not sure if everyone knows this or not. I use to deal with hypoglycemia and from my experience, one needs to: Avoid foods with high sugar content and no nutrients. Use bites of fruit rather than whole pieces. Don't use fruit juice. Fruit juice equaled brain fog for me. Eat a meal at least 3 times a day with 3-5 ounces of protein, 1 Tbsp fat...
