    ARCHIVED Restaurants

In addition to everywhere Donna said, there is also a bakery in East Meadow called Sweet Karma that sells gluten free bagels that are the most incredible thing. They are made by a woman named Joan who operates a company called Gluten Free Great Bakes, and they are sold out of this bakery. They are an absolute must! Emerson's in Babylon just started a gluten...
  2. You may remember a couple weeks ago I was on the hunt for the perfect pancake mix. Well I really like the Aunthentic Foods flours so I figured I would try their pancake mix. SUCCESS!!!!!! Hubby made blueberry pancakes this morning that tasted just like I remember pancakes tasting In addition to the regular ingredients the mix calls for you to add...
  3. I actually have a kinda funny story about this. Years ago the place I worked was having a blood drive and I've never had a problem with needles or anything so I was all for giving blood. So a coworker and I went downstairs where they were holding the drive and went to fill out our info. I've always been underweight (although I think I may actually be...
  4. Congrats!! That is awesome. We bought our 1st house (also a townhouse about a year and a half ago and I love it). Did you look online at all for the discontinued one you like? You'd be suprised. Even though it's discontinued there is a good chance you can still find it. I don't know how much you are looking to spend, but if you still can't find it...
  5. Hi Macy, 1st of let me say, congrats on the schools you are visiting... WOW! To be honest, I'm not that familiar with that part of the city. It is kinda way up there and the only time I venture up there is when I go to Columbia (Hospital) at the Celiac specialty center. I would suggest maybe calling Anne Roland Lee at (212) 342-4529. She is the...
  6. I went to Maui on my honeymoon 4 months after being diagnosed, and did very well. As someone previously mentioned, there is an Outback. In the same shopping center as Outback there is a restaurant named Roy's (which is actually owned by the same parent company as Outback). They don't have a gluten free menu, but they are very knowledgeable about gluten...
  7. ROFLMAO!!!! I am going to die I'm laughing so hard. This post is genius! As for JS having celiac, I agree, she may be dumber than a chicken mcnugget, but still it can only help.
  8. I use Premio sweet Italian sausage.
  9. Dessa - I am so sorry for your loss. It's ok to be angry. We are all hear to support you in this hard time. HUGS.
  10. How did none of the judges know the song Blake did was 311!! Ok and now as I'm typing this Simon said that he didn't like Sundance doing Pearl Jam's, Jeremy because it sounded like he was shouting the whole song. Ummmmm, has he never heard Pearl Jam or that song. I didn't particularly love the rendition myself, but the song basically is a controlled shouting...
  11. Wow, cool idea, but I'm actually one of the clumsiest people you've ever met. No really. I walk into something a minimum of twice a day and have a tendency to trip over nothing. And I have super long legs, so I'd probably end up kick someone and injuring us both. LOL!!! I took ballet when I was 4 and even my dad agrees I was the worst in the class. You know...
  12. LOL!! My sentiments exactly!! You should have heard me last night on the couch with Chris. I'm sitting there saying I don't care if it's dirty, they make the most incredible gluten-free pizza! The DOH is missing the point here. Hehe!!
  13. Bistango is great and definately a big selection. They have everything. Pasta, chicken, veal, fish, ect. There is no website, but you can find their menu on menupages. They say they can make just about anything gluten free except the pizza, fried calamari and a few other things. However how many people are you having for your birthday dinner? For something...
  14. Hey Stef (and everyone) - I just wanted to let you know I saw a blog where the owner of Risotteria posted that they will re-open this week. Phew!!!
  15. NOOOOOOOOO!!!! Well the good new is it's temporary. It's down the block from the Taco Bell/KFC, so apparently they are basically shutting down nearly every restaturant down there. I found a bunch of articles and blogs on it but this one was almost kinda funny. Open Original Shared Link Thanks for letting us know Stef. And thank G-d it's only temporary...
  16. I know Sweet n' Low is gluten free, but does this bother anyone else's stomach? It never used to bother me, but I found after going gluten free it does. I can use Equal, Splenda, ect. without a problem. It just seems to be Sweet n' Low.
  17. I've never heard of Jimmy Johns, but I eat "sandwiches" this way all the time. I love it Glad you did too!
  18. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Joan's bagels!!! LOVE! Although I'm gonna cry because I just ate my last sesame bagel last night (with tuna - yum); and was gonna order more today. Joan, come back from vacation!!! I have a pumpkin bread mix from her but haven't tried it yet. I'll let you know when I do.
  19. Me too. Lately I like a lot of random songs in the emo rock category to. Some of my favorites (no particular order): Korn Metallica (the older stuff) Linkin Park Led Zeppelin Foo Fighters NIN Rage Against the Machine Depeche Mode Audioslave I could keep going. I love music.
  20. This is the bread machine that most gluten-free people reccomend. I recently bought it, but haven't tried it yet. Open Original Shared Link
  21. Breads from Anna is awesome!!! Her specialty breads (like the banana bread, pumpkin, etc.) can be made in the oven. The regular breads that you would use for a sandwich (like the one in the green bag), she recommends making in the bread machine. I've never tried the other products you asked about. I hear the Dietery Specialties blueberry muffin mix is...
  22. Lister - I just read this post, and as so many others have said, don't freak out. There are so many symptoms that are common to so many things. Just like with celiac. Think how many of those symptoms can be the same for a zillion other things. Please keep us posted. I will definately be thinking of you.
  23. Check it out. Open Original Shared Link
  24. I've mentioned this before but Mac, Chanel, Nars (and many others), they are all made by the same company. Not necessarily the same parent brand that you would be familiar with (such as Estee Lauder or L'Oreal - which own the majority of all the makeup brands), but there are only a few companies that actually produce the cosmetics for all these brands. They...
  25. EnerG sesame pretzel rings are my favorite to grab when I'm going to need something to tide me over. You can order a box of 25 from Amazon.
