  1. I've been raving about these bagels for months; they are incredible!!! In fact I just had a sesame one with tuna for dinner, and plan on having a cinnamon raisin english muffin tomorrow for breakfast. Joan, the woman who makes them is an absolute sweetheart. I'm not sure how se does it but her products are incredible.
  2. Let's just leave it at this and not start this discussion again ok?
  3. Hehe, thanks Carrie! Risotteria is ofcourse beyond words. Mmmmm, pizza! (This in the West Village however - and you mentioned you need Midtown or Times Square), but you should really make every effort to go there. Downtown you can also find options like Hampton Chutney and Puff & Pao. I haven't tried Puff & Pao yet, but it sounds really good...
  4. Do you (or someone you know) have celiac or have eating restrictions on food? Yes. Me, my brother and my cousin. Do you (or they) find it hard to go grocery shopping? No, but I find I have to go to several stores to find everything I need/want. For instance I go to Stop & Shop for my everyday groceries, Whole Foods for some gluten free...
  5. I wasn't planning on joining this discussion because I'm not sure where I stand on it. As much as I would love a pill to avoid accidental glutenings, I don't know that I would want to let myself get my hopes up that something like that could happen. It would just make some social situations easier. Well ironically yesterday at work I was talking to a co...
  6. Has anyone tried this? It seems they have 2 varieties that are gluten free. One that says Wild Rice pancake mix on the package and the other just says Gluten Free Pancake Mix on the package. I'm inquiring about the one that says gluten-free on the package. I tried Pamela's when I was first diagnosed and hated it; and pretty much resigned to never having...
  7. I would be in heaven if someone could recreate Samoas.
  8. When I was 1st diagnosed I quickly realized how many people don't know that white flour is wheat. Same goes for bread that is not specifically called wheat bread, ect. ect. For that reason when I go to restaurants I ask if anything has wheat, and tell them this includes and flour or breading. I've yet to have someone seem offended that I assume they don't...
  9. Last weekend when I was at Trader Joe's I saw blueberry ice cream by a company called Double Rainbow. I love blueberries, and just about anything blueberry flavored so I figured I'd try it. I just tasted it and it's so good! Just wanted to share.
  10. Those are my favorite ones. I like to heat up some refried beans and put the taquitos over them with some melted cheese. Yum!
  11. It is not possible to say enough amazing things about Mama's. They are beyond incredible!! The owner was telling me before the holidays that he was planning on making gluten free ravioli after the new year. I'm so psyched to hear he's making them now. Looks like I may be going there tomorrow. I actually come from Westchester to go there; that's how good...
  12. It did used to have wheat flour, but they recently changed it.
  13. I would love to see recipes to make fresh pasta that can be made into gnocchi, tortellini, ravioli, etc. And like a few others have said, definately pictures!
  14. Have you tried the graham crackers from The Grainless Baker? They are out of this world!!!! (actually everything I have tried from them has been phenomenol). Open Original Shared Link
  15. Ughhh, I had that 2 weeks ago. Actually I had a stomach virus that then turned into a nasty cold. Sucks! I just took Tylenol Cold, Tylenol Flu and Robitussin. I had some vitmain C cough drops but I don't remember what brand it was.
  16. First off let me say, I am SO EXCITED you are doing this!!!! Like a couple of others have said, sauces and gravies are a big one. I would love to have a recipe for a really good, but easy cream of mushroom gravy. Hmmm... some other stuff I would love, pancakes and breads (ofcourse). I'm sure there's tons of stuff I would love to see but just can't think...
  17. I went to Risotteria Friday night (which was amazing as always), and tried the new Red Bridge beer. Actually, I had a couple. LOL!! It was really good. Kinda reminded me of Heineken a little. Definately good for those that were beer drinkers in your previous life I should also mention, we sat next to a mother and daughter who had family in Michigan...
  18. You are absolutely not being to picky. The reason this diet can be hard is because of the cross contamination factor. You need to be very careful about not even having a crumb. If you just pick the croutons out of the salad or just take the bread off the sandwich, etc. etc., you might as well just eat the bread and the croutons because you are doing the same...
  19. I think I may pee my pants!!!! Hysterical!
  20. Although getting statements like this is annoying, do you realize how many products and brands P&G makes? I think if you are more specific about a particular brand / product, or write to that brand directly you might get a better response. Then again maybe not. But sometimes I think we are to quick to condemn a company for not giving us the response...
  21. I've had the blueberry ones before, and I don't remember having a reaction but I didn't like them that much. Maybe I'll try the Trader Joe's ones.
  22. Like Mookie said, Risotteria and Lumi are musts!! I went to Bistango not long ago which was also excellent. It's a tiny place though and gets pretty busy for dinner so either make a reservation or maybe try it for lunch. I just read today that Blue Smoke now has a gluten-free menu; which is awesome!! In Times Square, there is a restaurant on 44th b...
  23. The bag says it has 4 servings and there are 14 grams of fat (total), 8 grams of saturated fat and no trans fat. Hope that helps.
  24. I've been really sick this past week and hubby came came over to my office during the day to bring me medicing because I was being to lazy to get it for myself. That made me smile. I've actually done a similar thing as Momma Goose. I was in Dunkin Donuts one day (obv this was in my gluten days), and a homeless man came in and wanted a donut but didn...
  25. Has anyone tried the Bell & Evans chicken alfredo? Open Original Shared Link I was in Whole Foods today and picked it up. Considering how great their gluten-free chicken nuggets are I have high hopes, but was just wondering if anyone has tried them yet. It says to make over your favorite pasta, and although I'm sure it's great with Tinkyada,...
