  1. Wow, you beat me to it!!! I was just going to post this. And for everyone who misses doughnuts as much as me there is a recipe for apple cider doughnuts that I can't wait to try!!! Based on how great all her other recipes are I'm sure this won't disappoint.
  2. I've had great success a few times at a local hibachi place by me using my triumph dining cards. I bring my San-J Wheat Free Tamari, give them my dining card and ask them to make my food in the back with a clean pan and clean utensils. I sit at the hibachi table with everyone else, and they just bring my food out to me. My favorite thing to get is...
  3. Hey honey!! I haven't eaten there, but I've heard they are very accomodating and know of other gluten free people that have had success at the one on Park. I was looking at the menu for the new one the other day, and the enchiladas looked like they had potential. Let me know how it goes.
  4. Junior's Cheesecake is the best NY Cheesecake. I used this recipe for my brothers birthday and there was not a crumb left. Instead of the sponge cake bottom I used ground up gluten-free Ginger Snaps (might try with animal crackers next time), pecans and some butter to hold it together. Open Original Shared Link
  5. Everybody Eats has the most incredible gluten-free french bread. I would dare anyone to know that it is gluten free. It's a bit pricey but I splurge on it every so often. If you are hosting a party I think that is definately the time to splurge.
  6. Hmmmm... well both of those sound yummy. Maybe I'll have to give them a second chance. I'm finding it slightly humourous that I live in Westchester and drive out by you to go to Mama's and you live in Long Island and are driving by me to go to Ciao. LOL!!
  7. I think the risk of cross contamination is way to high in a place like TGI Fridays.
  8. Even if it is gluten free I'd be hesitant about going to TGI Fridays. I'm a big advocate of still eating out, and not still enjoying this part of my life, but I also think this means making smart decisions and reassesing some of the places I "can" eat out at. Fridays just seems like the type of place that is to risky. I have to assume the majority...
  9. There are no PF Chang's in Manhattan but there are 2 Outbacks. One in Chelsea and the other in Midtown. There are tons of great restaurants in the city however that cater to gluten free. My favorites are Risotteria (gluten-free pizza!!!!), Lumi and Bistango. Check out these websites. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link

    ARCHIVED Save Me!

I just saw this thread. Mama's in Oakdale is AMAZING!!!!! There are a few Mama's in Suffolk, but it's the one not affiliated with the others. You can get the address off the GFRAP website. B Well in Plainview has a lot of good products that you won't find everywhere else. Sweet Karma bakery in East Meadow that sells bagels and english muffins from...
  11. Funny you should mention this place. We were just randomly talking about it over dinner about an hour ago. Can I ask what you got there? I went there when I was first diagnosed, had one of their pasta dishes and thought it was horrendous. I think I took about 3 bites and then just pushed the food around my plate. I was just saying at dinner tonight...
  12. WOW, you are an amazing friend!! I don't really know anything about the Michigan area, so unfortunately I don't have any new places to add.
  13. WOW!!!! Thanks! I can't wait to try it
  14. Thanks guys!!! These stories really cheered me up and gave me hope for her. I've been so upset about it since I found out.
  15. I just found out today that one of my friends has brain cancer. She is in her mid-20's. I guess I'm just looking for someone to tell me that I'm wrong, and that she has more than a few years to live. She is one of the funniest, sweetest, most incredible people I have ever met. It's just not fair. I don't want the reality of it to be true. Someone...
  16. Great Job!!!! Congrats!!
  17. Awwwww, that is so sweet!!! For my birthday last month 2 of my co-workers who know how much I love the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under from Outback, had it delivered and suprised me with a candle and singing and all!! It was the sweetest thing ever. They actually wanted to get the chocolate Souffle from Roy's, because I always rave about it, but...
  18. I'm sure I could do some research on the internet and find the answer to this, but figured there will definately be people on here that know the answer to this. Is it possible to be allergic (or intolerant, as we all technically are) to wheat and gluten but not be celiac? I ask this because the other day I was downstairs in our work cafeteria and there...
  19. ROFLMAO!! I know we've had these before, and a lot are repeats, but somehow it doesn't get any less funny when I read them again. Love it!!!
  20. Well Boston is a bit far away from me to open and operate it.... but I'll never say never
  21. I think I found this way to fun. Wanted to share. Open Original Shared Link
  22. LOL!!! I think for the 1st month I was gluten free I consumed more Skippy Peanut butter than I'd had in all 27 years before being diagnosed. I love: Blueberries, bananas and strawberries with sour cream (or without, but this is a snack I love) Apples and Peanut Butter Rice Whole Foods Shrimp Bisque Soup Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream (Pistachio...
  23. I'm so sorry I just saw this. I wasn't on all day. Unfortunately neither the salad dressing or the soup are safe. They usually just give me some oil and vinegar for the salad. I would have thought the soup was ok, but the manager (or owner) informed me that they add a tiny bit of soy sauce to it. Let me know how it went!!!!!
  24. I found a Creamy Chicken with Wild Rice soup by Progresso that seems to be gluten free. I haven't tried it yet but I read the ingredients and I think it's ok. Not sure you could use it for cooking because of the rice but might not be a bad addition to a recipe.
  25. Did you happen to notice if they have rainbow cookies? I used to get them from this place in Long Island but they're not there anymore, and although I don't live that close to here I'd be willing to take a drive an stock up if they had them.
