I am glad cqilsing that you had such a fantastic dining expierience at Outback. I don't think I could get my husband to drive 2 hours for a dinner. One hour he will do, but I am sure not two. Besides I would be too tired to eat once I got there. I think you did wonderful with the manager. I think that we ALL should go out of our way to tell the manager...

ARCHIVED celiac disease Is Big Time News!
mouse replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Publications & Publicity
I agree with Rachel, ChelsE and VydorScope. I ate out last night and met a friend for lunch today. I had to speak to both magrs. about ingreds. or something. I made sure to thank them for the gluten-free foods that they served and PLEASE do not stop it, because of the stupid McD's lawsuits. I said that we as Celiacs understand that CC could happen in... -
ARCHIVED Salad Dressing

I don't like Annie's. I just buy Kraft and read the label before I purchase. They will always put wheat on the ingreds list. -
ARCHIVED What If You Don't Go Gluten Free
mouse replied to jodikris's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Acccording to a couple of the doctors I go to, it is not unusual to have a false negative on just about any test you have done. Whether it is for celiac disease or something else. A positive is for sure but not a negative. -
ARCHIVED New Book--living Gluten-free For Dummies
mouse replied to Moongirl's topic in Publications & Publicity
I don't know Shirley - I bought the For Dummies book on computers and I was still a dummy when I finished it . I just pre-order Donna Korn's book as I thought it would be handy to loan out when my doctor sends me another patient to teach about the food. Not that I am an expert, because I am not. But, I am able to steer them towards stores and what to... -
tarnelberry, what a great posting with the thread for all of us to read. I think no matter how hard we try, someone is going to mis-interept our intent. Hopefully we will try and rethink what the person was trying to convey. Boy, is this thought convoluted .

My husband and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings tonight for dinner. Broncobux had mention it. I had fantastic chicken wings and we will go back there again. I have a question for Broncobux. Are the potato wedges and the ranch dressing gluten-free? I did not order them as I was afraid to. I had the honey BBQ wings and they were so great. I bought a couple...

Today is a good day. Some of my energy has returned and I have been able to clear some things off of my desk. I have gotten about a week behind on things, due to the severe exhaustion I have been having. Then I took a bath in my deep whirlpool tub. It felt so great and I really needed the jets on my poor spine. Tonight my sweetie (husband) and I are...

ARCHIVED Airborne Cold Remedy
mouse replied to mandigirl1's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have used it without any kind of reaction. I am assuming that it is gluten-free. My husband has had multiple colds this winter and Airborne has significantly shortened the days that he felt sick. Everyone I know, swears by it. MY one neighbor takes it before he goes anywhere that is crowded. -
ARCHIVED Great News!
mouse replied to jaten's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My grocery store (Basha's in Gold Canyon) just revamped their health food section. They even added a freezer section. They are now carrying more items and I was able to pick up a few gluten-free things from the freezer. I am going to have to go over my Wholefood's list before I go there and see what I can now buy at my grocery store. It is important that... -
ARCHIVED celiac disease Is Big Time News!
mouse replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Publications & Publicity
I agree that this is probably going to cause us more harm then good. I would hate to see a trickle down effect to the restaurants that provide us with gluten free menus or even the ones that provide information on their websites. I would never join a class action lawsuit of this nature. Besides, the report that McD's has commissioned from that university... -
I also am shocked at the horrible things that people will say. Debmidge, you and your husband are in it for the long haul. If the shoe had been on the other foot, you would not have left him. Whatever happened to compassion for others in this world? I asked my husband last week, if during the 30 plus years of being treated like a hypochondriac by doctors...

ARCHIVED New Book: Celiac Disease: A Hidden Epidemic
mouse replied to celiachap's topic in Publications & Publicity
I just started reading mine last night. So far, I like it. My brain is not too sharp anymore and I am finding it much easier to understand this book compared to others I have read. I am hoping that because of the way it is written that I will able to comprehend so much more. -
ARCHIVED I Just Died And Went To gluten-free Heaven!
mouse replied to tiffjake's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I also love the K brownies. My husband and I almost fight over them and he can eat gluten. I save them in the freezer for the times my sweet tooth needs a snack. And also when I have not had any dairy for a long time - I don't want to overdue my casein allergy. -
Yes, you are right as the items are getting cross contaminated. Is it possible to talk to whomever is in charge and see if they could leave one set of tongs in each section. I know they will have to put each one down before the next selection but maybe this is doable to them. It never hurts to ask. Good Luck.

NO, won't eat anything there again. USA

ARCHIVED Why Am I In A Better Mood?
mouse replied to penguin's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
MY husband and I noticed that my temper almost disappeared about two weeks of being gluten-free. I always had a terrible temper and now it has improved about 95%. I don't know about the bc pills as my memory doesn't go back that far . -
I clicked on your link and sent my email. They will probably get thousands and I bet they now have automatic deletes on their computers

ARCHIVED Starbucks
mouse replied to Nashville's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Frappuchino's (bottles) are safe. I called them two years ago and asked and have them on occasion with no problems. I drink them very seldom because I am allergic to casein. On the same frame of question, are ALL Starbucks coffees (in their store) gluten-free? Like the ones with flavorings, etc. -
ARCHIVED Is A 'sensitive Stomach' Something To Worry About?
mouse replied to floridanative's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would consider it a red flag. Just make sure that they have ALL the right tests done and that she is still eating gluten. I am sure that my daughter has Celiac, but she will not get tested. My brother who is older then me and extremely intellegent, won't take the time to read "Dangerous Grains" and he shows many of the symptoms. We can lead a horse... -
Scott (Administrater) posted sometime back that we did not have to get new pots and pans as long as they were thourougly (sp) washed. The only 2 pans I was concerned about were my teflon coated ones and they were relatively new at diagnosis. So, they had minimal scratches and I put them in the dishwasher once to make absolutely sure that every nook and...

ARCHIVED Does Celiac Go Into Remission & Come Out With Stress?
mouse replied to Debra Leigh's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The doctor who diagnosed me knew nothing about this disease, except that I had to go gluten-free. But, after a year he said that I could cheat once a month since I was feeling so much better. NO YOU CAN'T CHEAT. The first month I cheated, I had no symtoms and I thought this was great. The second month I did my once a month cheating, I felt some minor... -
ARCHIVED I Found A gluten-free Buffalo Wing Sauce!
mouse replied to Becky6's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Broncobux, you find me more restaurants in my area, then I can. We are going to have to go to Buffalo Wild Wings for our next eat out. I absolutely love wings. We went out to dinner Sunday with friends and went to another place you recommended - Picazzo's Pizza in Tempe. My husband and I shared wings and a shrimp white sauce pizza. He said he could not... -
Like Shirley said we have all been there. My quote down below says "Throw yourself a pity party and you will be the only guest". Well, there are times that I AM THE ONLY GUEST. Hang in there because it gets so much easier.

That is more then AWESOME. How talented you are. I can't wait to pick the room and sign up. Of course this is over my husband's dead body. He had just said the week before that we would not being going on another cruise. Now, I told him we were! I am hoping he will meet some people that he can dicuss golf and sports with. He hears enough about the...
