  1. Its much worse than gluten. That's why I added the caveat that some people can do some, others can't do any.
  2. Nikki, you are correct. It hasn't been pinned, and it probably won't be pinned now that I see it, since it is a duplicate. We don't allow duplicate postings. from the rules: Do not spam the boards (i.e., post the same thing in multiple topics or areas of the board to bring more attention to your post) Dianne: I will move your old post to the children...
  3. Some people just have trouble with corn in large quantities (corn, corn syrup)....others have trouble with minute amounts (esp. if you are truly allergic, IgE). Here is a good site: Open Original Shared Link
  4. Donna, I PM'ed her the contents....I'll send it to you as well, if you'd like.
  5. oceangirl, I think you've been given some good advice, and I certainly hope that you find the answers...whatever they are! Someone noted about reacting to so many foods that you end up with nothing to cut out---and that was me last summer/fall, after being on the diet 1.5-2 years. I was eating 8 foods, no oils, spice, fats, etc. I went through the wringer...
  6. just copied it and PM'ed it to you rachel. its not formatted, so sorry bout that!
  7. Your dr. didn't order the full Celiac panel....didn't have the Total IgA, tTG, and EMA, which (the last two) are the "newer/better" Celiac tests...so you might have scored fully positive on those...you'll never know since your dr. didn't run the full test while you were eating gluten.
  8. Favorite products of mine: Tinkyada pasta Bob's Red Mill baking mix Progresso Creamy Mushroom soup (thicken it and use it for casseroles) If there is something specific you need (brand, how to make something, what to eat, etc)----just ask! And, the search tool is a great function. Make sure that you know if something is safe BEFORE you...
  9. I agree with Patti. I rely more on companies that will clearly disclose gluten, and then, companies websites if it is safe or not. Lists that people post can change very easily. Arrowhead Mills, Aunt Nelly's, Balance, Baskin Robbins, Ben & Jerry, Bertoli, Betty Crocker, Blue Bunny, Breyers, Campbells, Cascadian Farms, Celestial Seasonings, ConAgra...
  10. a heating pad might help ease the discomfort....or a hot bath.
  11. Karen: While I don't know the answer to that one, I just wanted to add that I love their bread, esp hot out of the oven!! My mom makes it for me and I think she follows the recipe pretty closely. She puts it in two small loaf pans instead of one big one, though. Best of luck, and let me know how it turns out
  12. Just an FYI: independent lab testings showed that the fries did not have ANY gluten in them. There are still, of course, risks re: cross contamination.
  13. MSG is not gluten. It is just a misleading name . If for any reason it were derived from wheat, it would have to be clearly listed.

    ARCHIVED Wow

    I love it
  15. A family member of mine has MS and has found her symptoms are greatly helped/controlled etc with diet changes, including a low gluten/low dairy/low fat diet. She doesn't have Celiac, but the diet helps her. In general, autoimmune diseases are linked...if you have one, you have an increased risk of another, etc.
  16. Tinkyada, a rice based pasta. www.tinkyada.com but you can find it in many grocery stores.
  17. CarlaB should know...she is either on it now, or about to be on it. If she doesn't see this, PM her.
  18. Ranchero or Cool Ranch? According to the company, both are safe. Open Original Shared Link
  19. Congratulations!!!
  20. This week is going down hill fast for me. I had a hunch I was off, as I can't read and process anything thats going on. I have stopped one of my meds that has given me horrible side effects, and now I think a flare/herx/whatever it is is starting. Sigh. I am trying to keep up, but I'm thinking of you all. xoxo
  21. It cannot be guaranteed...even if there is no gluten in the restaurant, the employees don't bring gluten work, etc. Even then, ingredients can change, and there is always human error. However, that being said, everything in life is a risk. We make educated decisions and balance risk. (things like, I have an important meeting today that I can't miss...
  22. Kilcan: I apologize for not clarifying. My post was more in reference to another post, that said wheat could be hidden, and I was just clarifying that (I should have quoted, which I didn't). But by law, wheat is supposed to be clearly labeled---and that was my only point. I fully agree that there are products that don't have a gluten policy, and...
  23. Welcome to the board, carebear, but I'm sorry to hear that your daughter is having such difficulties. How old is your daughter? Has she had the bloodwork re-done, and a repeat biopsy? Is she 100% gluten free (no eating out, checked medications, cross contamination, etc)? Two of the best Celiac centers are at Columbia University (www.celiacdiseasecenter...
  24. Any wheat is required by law to be listed.
  25. According to FDA food labeling, if it says "vinegar" it means apple cider vinegar, which is safe.
