  1. I bought a bag of Kettle Chips while on vacation, I always eat regualr chips. The Kettle Chips made me sick, I will not try them again.
  2. Here's an article I found, maybe it can help. I am very lucky in the menopause area, I haven't had to take any type of meds for it. I started menopause when I was 42, was through it by 49. Two years ago, at 52, I had to have a hysterectomy, and my doctor said it may throw me into menopausal symptoms for a short time, but it didn't. I have enough other...
  3. When I get glutened, my blood pressure goes up...and I always had low pressure, well, I think very good pressure...98/60. Now' it's always 120/80, sometimes 130/80. One day, they took my blood pressure, and it was 149/90, my doc was so surprised, he immediately scheduled a test for my heart, which I can't remember right now, but everything was fine. I...
  4. Call the 800# on the package, and see what the company says. There are chocolate chips that are gluten free, google it. Some cornmeal is not gluten free...you should watch the package and check for the words "gluten free" and then it still may be CC'd.
  5. Sorry, I don't agree with this. I work for an optometrist...a few weeks ago, one of my fellow workers had a blood vessel break in the white part (sclera) while at work. He immediately took her into his office to take a look, and very quickly took her blood pressure...it was 180/110...high blood pressure. Jack, definitely see your doctor..if it's not...
  6. Exactly as she says. Broken blood vessels in the eye is one of the first signs of high blood pressure. Ringing in the ears often can be high blood pressure too. Call.
  7. Mushrooms are a fungus, and many people can't eat fungus foods. Long before I knew about gluten, I had problems with mushrooms. Not even 20 minutes, and I would get so sick from mushrooms.
  8. I have been gluten free for 9 years. I have NEVER intentionally eaten gluten in those 9 years, not once. From the time I went gluten free, I was adamant, there would be no gluten in my mouth. I missed foods, but never enough to be sick, I was so sick before. Now, after 9 years, I realize I was glutened many times by products claiming to be gluten free...
  9. Elle, I have a celiac pharmicist, and she's great. She has my name on her computer monitor, along with a few others. If I come in and she is really busy, she will give me the number to call, so I can verify before she fills the script. I take Wellbutrin, which I am thinking I want to get away from. Any ways, my neuro increased the dose, and her associate...
  10. I think you are on the right track, and figured it out much quicker than most doctors. If you don't feel you need an "official" diagnosis, then go gluten free with her. You already know it is helping you.
  11. Dove products...Suave...Pantene...Garnier Nutrisse...Aussie...White Rain I use Softsoap for the tub and handwashing...Johnson's Baby Powder...Dove lotions Hope this helps some.
  12. Corn constipates me, makes my life miserable, so I eliminated it from my diet. On the other hand, Bob's Red Mill does have CC issues quite often. I find, for me, if I stay away from all grains, I do much better. The beans may be a problem too. Elimination diet is what you will have to try, you have too many things at once that could be the problems.
  13. I would be a dietician's nightmare! I am my own dietician. My sister is a dietician, and celiac, so I do have someone to discuss things with. Of course, reading in all these forums, often times I am telling her something she didn't know!
  14. In the 9 years I have been gluten free, I rarely ever get sick. Maybe 4 times over 9 years, and 3 of those times have been in the last couple of years. I have enough issues going on without any outside viruses hitting me. About 2 years ago, I got a virus, and had just had surgery about 6 weeks before, I think I was run down from that. This Feb, I picked...
  15. I have sleep apnea, and a sleep doctor. My doctor tells me, we should all go to bed at the same time every night, and get up at the same time every morning...make it a habit. I have had insomnia for over 30 years, and to tell you the truth, I didn't realize it was insomnia. It had gone on for so long, I just thought it was the way I was. 3 or 4 hours...
  16. There is another thread about Honey Nut Chex started today or yesterday, and yes, other's are having problems. You should probably stop letting him eat them.
  17. Different people, different levels of sensitivity. There is probably cross contamination in each of them. Remember gluten free labeling only reguires less than 20ppm of gluten...it doesn't surprise me that some of you are reacting. My mom told me today, dad loves Honey Nut Chex and that he doesn't like Cinnamon Chex. He isn't real careful about what...
  18. I don't believe most of the celiacs---it's some of the celiacs. I think just as many react to gluten on the skin, as those who don't. I break out in hives with gluten on my skin. It's always best to do away with gluten containing products, be it food, or body products. You will have no idea what is glutening you if you continue to use gluten containing...
  19. I have heard others say this happened to them too. I was just as sick either way, but then I wasn't gluten free wayyyyyyyy back then. My baby will be 27 in Oct.
  20. I agree with Steph. Any product can be listed as gluten free, as long as there is less than 20ppm of gluten in it. Some of us can't tolerate 5ppm. So, I guess you will have to experiment, just like we have, trial and error. My support group is much the same. They always have food, at every meeting. When we have a meal of some sort, usually catered...
  21. If you are a super sensitive gluten intolerant, this product is not for you. Lots of celiac's aren't super sensitive, and are safe with this company....I was glutened by the milk, no doubt in my mind. If you are using the product with no problems, that's great. The first 2 half gallons I had were fine. The 3rd one got me. Yes, I know it was the milk...
  22. I am both corn and potato free, mostly. This is strange, I can eat potato chips., only one brand now though, UTZ's. A nutritionist told me the process they use for making potato chips may be removing the part of a potato that bothers me. I can't use potato flour, yet potato starch in cheese didn't seem to bother me. I can't have corn, but a little cornstarch...
  23. People experience neuropathy differently, and there are many different types of neuropathy. Sensory neuropathy does not have to be pins and needles, although at times it is. I call my neuropathy "the princess and the pea" syndrome. Sensory neuropathy at times does make you feel like you can't stand your clothing touching you. I can't stand the feeling...
  24. Absolutely! Also, when you first go gluten free, I think you should stay away from anything processed, such as pancakes. Bob's Red Mill flours have made many ill, there is a cross contamination problem often times there. A system trying to heal needs easy foods, whole foods. Try baked potatoes, rice, chicken breast, cod, veggies, and fruits. As for...
  25. I agree with UTZ's chips...they are good. I can't eat Kettle chips, they make me sick. I tried them when I was on vacation in Mich, because they do not have UTZ there. I used to eat regular Lays chips all the time, never had a problem with them...the bags from Plano Texas are ok...but, they changed their oil from sunflower/safflower oil to sunflower...
