Im kinda surprised he didnt find anything abnormal considering how ive had constipation problems and IBS for almost 8 years now, but oh well

I don't think the Children's liquid tylenol is. My nephew ate some one day and my sister freaked out because it had gluten. It took a couple of days for him to calm down. There is a website called glutenfreedrugs.com that list most everything that is gluten-free.

Hi, I was just diagnosed, and I'm trying to get a handle on everything. I've thrown out the 10 flours and innumerable condiments in my house. But do I have to throw away my favorite (and expensive) non-stick skillet? Can I clean it with alcohol? I understand tossing porous items like wood spoons and cutting boards, but how crazy do I have to get? If the tiniest molecule is bad, what happens if I smell bread baking? Those molecules are going straight up my nose.......Any thoughts/help/ideas? Thank you!
Breathing the "smell" of gluten is not a problem, but loose flour in the air can be. It can get into the mucus of your nose and then you end up swallowing it. I would think that you would avoid those extreme situations.
Alcohol will not remove the gluten, but a good scrubbing with soap and water may remove the gluten. Give your pots and pans a good cleaning and it should not be a problem. And in most cases, a good run in the dishwashed woudl be ok.

Ok, I have a question about this question. Are all white and red wines gluten free? What about the fizzy wines?
All wines are gluten free. Wine Coolers are a different horse, and contacting with the manufacturer is a must.

Hmm, then what is an accepted form to diagnose Celiac Disease/gluten-sensitivity? I already had two negative blood tests. I've read the biopsy gives negative results for people with severe Celiac Disease. Is the genetic test the best way to assume one has Celiac Disease?
Unfortunately, there is no perfect method of diagnosis. Serologic Blood Panel, Endoscopy/Biopsy, in combination with a positive dietary response, can be diagnostic.
Many times, these methods fail to pinpoint a severe sensitivity, and some turn to Enterolabs. A gene test will not tell you that you have Celiac, but it can indicate and increased risk of developing Celiac. I believe, it's 70% of the people with the Dq2 Dq8 genes will never develop Celiac. It can also tell you that you genetically cannot develop the autoimmune Celiac Disease if you do not carry the specific genes. So again, gene testing can only be a piece of the puzzle.
Many people here are self diagnosed and found that compliance with the diet is good enough for them. I can empathize with the quest for answers, though.

Yes, I have heard that the stool test is much more sensitive and accurate than the blood test that is why I did it.
Please note that Enterolabs can not and does not diagnose for Celiac Disease. Stool testing, at this time is not an accepted form of diagnosis regarding Celiac. They can test for gluten sensitivity, but then most, already suspect a gluten/food sensitivity in contacting Enterolabs.

Based on the medical articles on this site and others I have read since being diagnosed over three years ago, no. One would have to transfer the wheat product into their mouths and ingest it.
I handle bakery goods often and have never had a reaction. I transport large amounts of bakery goods in my personal vehicle. The aroma of bread is very strong. I have never had a reaction.
That being said, there are many people on this forum that are convinced otherwise. There are certainly very sensitive people that must be extremely careful.
My concern is that newly diagnosed people don't become unduly burdened with uneccessary restrictions.

I would tend to agree with larrymac. Most people can handle gluten without issue. Shampoos and lotions could be a concern due to the fact that it can get into your mouth. Gluten cannot be absorbed through the skin.
An ALLERGY to gluten can cause of itching and irritation. It is possible to have Celiac as well as a gluten allergy.

Enterolab only test for the beta subunit portions and therefore their test can miss part of a minor alpha subunit that carries a risk of Celiac disease
Gene testing can not tell you if you have Celiac, it can only indicate a 30% increased risk or developing Celiac Disease. Seventy percent of the people with the DQ2/DQ8 genes, do not develop Celiac.
But, it can be a piece of the puzzle.

Yup! No gluten there. Corn gluten is also gluten free. If an ingredient just lists "starch", wheat must be listed if it's derived by wheat as in "starch (wheat)". I believe it to be rare for barley, rye or malt to be involved in a starch.
Simple answer is YES!

I few days ago , I went to an IHOP where I careully explained my condition and that I wanted an omlette without pancake mix. We talked about making it on a different grill and I was assured that all steps had been taken. That night I started experiencing the symptoms. Today, 3 days later, the pain is excruciating. Is there such a thing as a gluten emergency? I mean I'm breaking out now with DH and my gut feels like it's exploding. I mean can the emergency room do anything or should I just wait it out? Haven't felt this bad in a long time.
I am terribly sorry that you are so ill and wish you a speedy recovery.
If I choose to dine at a high turn over, inexperienced/non-knowledgeable wait staff and most like a chaotic kitchen with a 96(or less) health rating, known for it's pancakes restaurant.... I would be thankful if I did NOT get glutened.
Once your waitress leaves with you order and turns it into the kitchen, all bets are off. Or if necessary, just order fried eggs, grit and some fruit to minimize your change for a glutening.

I called the company two months ago & the company states that there is no gluten in the Tyson frozen Chicken Breasts.
Thanks Lisa for you post. I too, believe that here is no gluten in most of there products (if not all unseasoned products).
I have learned a long time ago,that is there is no clear definition for anything.
Even though a product may not have gluten, does not mean that a sensitive person may get ill by consuming the given product. That is not to say that there is a hidden conspiracy to add gluten too keep the gluten community off guard. It means that there is no defined criteria (legally or symptomatically)
A compromised digestive system, is just that...compromised.
If a product bothers you, for goodness sake, don't go there again. It won't be your life. But, yet again, all roads don't lead to gluten.

Instead of speculating about POSSIBLE contamination or ingredient issue about this product, why doesn't someone contact the company directly and report back to this thread.
Please remember, that just because a product is listed as gluten free, does not mean that ALL people will deal with it well. When someone has gluten issues, it's frequent that there may be other issues, not resolved. Not all roads lead to gluten.
Let's not begin a mass fear with speculation, without knowing the facts from the company. Once your have a disclosure, you can make up your mind.

I'm sure it's something that they are injecting the chicken with but since it's not declared on the package it's hard to tell.
There is no mystery about injected material in chicken. If gluten is not listed on the ingredient, it's not in there, according to FDA law. Tyson is a very reputable company, it will not include undisclosed ingredients, law or not. Perhaps, it was something else.

No problem for me and I have been using it for years. Lipton Onion Mix is the only Lipton Dry Mix that IS gluten free.

Hi, I was recently diagnosed with Celiac disease. My doctor gave me a list of foods I can and can't eat, but there are all of these special Glutton Free mixes and frozen foods at Whole Foods and my local super market. Does any one have any advice they can give me. Which of the mixes and special "glutton free" products are worth trying, which aren't? Would love some advice. Thanks!

I really need some help so if anyone can tell me what kind of meals they prepare on the SCD I would appreciate it!
I have 3 young children at home and also am 5 months pregnant so it's hard just to do the day to day stuff. I'm hypoglycemic and also awating the gluten test results from enterolab. I really want to change my ways to improve energy. A few days back on the gluten-free diet and I already feel & see a difference in my kids.
I want to do the SCD diet but I don't know where to start. I'm guessing I can get a yogurt maker off amzn. Other than that, where can I get a weekly meal plan that includes snacks and "dessert" for my kids?
I eat snacks that are "legal" but than am still hungry afterward. I want to be sure I am eating what is allowed, but enough for the baby as well, but also not throwing my blood sugar off. Is this possible with the SCD and how do I know what amounts to eat? Also, how do I prepare meals for a family on this diet?
Any tips, lists of where to start would be awesome! thanks so much!

Enterolabs does not diagnose for Celiac Disease. I would suggest that you get a full Celiac Panel and/or a follow-up endoscopy/biopsy.

I will be visiting Las Vegas for the first time March 6-10. I have planned everything from flight to hotel to shows, but Im having trouble with restaurants. I need places that will be safe and gluten-free so that my trip is not ruined. Has anyone been to Las Vegas on a gluten-free diet? Which restaurants have a gluten-free menu or have an accomidating chef? THANK YOU so much for any help!!

I guess it doesn't matter what anyone advises, she won't refer me until I start the diet. I was told that starting the diet hinders the result. I would like to know the damage done.
Yes, beginning the diet WILL hinder the accuracy of future testing. It would more important to start the diet and begin healing, rather than wait to see your damage. In addition, an endo/biopsy exam may or may not reveal affected areas of your intestines.

I am afraid you are not "officially" diagnosed through Enterolabs. Enterolabs does not diagnose for Celiac Disease. But you can be self diagnosed, as many here have been. Often times, it's the many pieces of the puzzle that leads people to remove gluten from their daily lives.
