Stool sampling is the most accurate way at this time to test for celiac disease
Ali,
There are three ways to test/diagnose for Celiac Disease.
1. Blood Test
2. Endoscopy for a Biopsy
3. Positive Dietary Response.
If you are refering to Enterolabs stool testing, yes they can test for gluten sensitivity and other sensitivities, but they cannot and do not claim to diagnose Celiac Disease.
-
I had a negative blood test, stool testing is the most accurate way of testing.
Of testing what?

Philadelphia Cream Cheese is a Kraft Product. Kraft will always list forms of gluten.....but, when in doubt call creamcheese.com or 1 (800) 634-1984.
Philly Cream Cheese is gluten free.

Angie:
This is a poem that I keep on my mirror in my bathroom and read it every day and I thought you might enjoy it:
I look at them and see two sisters
connected by more than blood and
shared existence.
Two sisters who will draw strength
and encouragement for each other
as they move through life.
I look at them and see two sisters,
two lovely daughters, and wonder what
I have unleashed upon the world?
Hugs to all your family,

I am so glad that you're home and all is well.

UPDATE: The eye should cross over us sometime early evening with about 30mph winds. Maybe Gabby will dump my neighbors new lawn furniture into my back yard.
-
It's nice to know someone is thinking about you!!!
Currently, the wind is blowing about 20mph and no rain yet. The Tropical Depression is suppose to come ashore at Hatteras, continue to Nags Head and then turn east off shore. Early evening we should get some action, although slight.
We are about 50 nautical miles inland and don't really expect much excepts a little wind and with great hopes RAIN. We are 15 inches below the average rain fall. The farms are pitiful.
Not to worry about this one Karen. Just hoping for rain.
hugs

Coming from Peanut Country....... Peanut Oil does not have a long shelf life and it will go rancid fairly quickly. If you bought organic peanut butter, it may not have any preservatives in it and, thus, it is recommended that it be refrigerated.
I always refrigerate my opened jars of peanut butter.

Hi Lilbby:
You have some great suggestions already.
I usually keep some cooked (with HerbOx chicken bouillon) brown rice in my refridge and its great to have with an egg in the morning. Sliced carrots dipped in peanut butter is a great snack. Lately, I have been on a kick with rice crackers and Kraft singles and Yoplait Yogurt.
On the weekend you can bake a chicken and stretch it out with....chicken fajitas, stuffed potato with chicken, chicken omelette, salad with chicken or soup.

I have noticed on Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts that you buy at the grocery store that it lists "chicken broth" as an ingredient. For me, chicken broth usually always has gluten in it. Is it safe for us in general to eat the chicken, or if the broth did have wheat would they have to put that as one of the ingredients?
I am just wondering if the chicken is normally safe?
Thanks and God bless,
Bobbi
Bobbi:
If the chicken broth is listed as an ingredient and it does not list wheat, the broth is safe. If wheat is used as an ingredient, by law it is required to be listed. IF wheat IS used in the chicken broth, then no, the chicken should not be eaten. Just look for wheat as an ingredient.
Not all chicken broth contains wheat. Swanson's chicken and beef broth is gluten free (but not the organic chicken broth). HerbOx chicken and beef bouillon is gluten free as well as others.

this is just a vent to let off some steam -- i had a EGD/biopsy 2 weeks ago and he told me to call him for results 3 days after the biopsy and now it's TWO weeks later and he still hasn't looked at the lab results (he's got them back, but hasn't looked at it yet)! urg -- thanks for letting me vent!
I would plop myself down in his office and not leave until he saw me.....and make a loud noise like your avatar!!!!!! I hate it when doctors are so inconsiderate of their patients.

Hurrah, hurrah!

The question was about something labeled as "modified CORN starch." Are you saying that in countries outside the US this product might have gluten? I'd never heard that before.
Oooop.....I guess I am so used to answering questions about modified FOOD starch. I stand corrected.
-
Yes, I have eaten there many times. I believe you can get their gluten free menu on line at www.panera.com. If you can't find it, let me know.
They will also let you look at their ingredients book. I have found them very nice to deal with.
-
a little expansion....
Modified Food Starch in the US is generally derived from corn. If otherwise, it will be listed as Modified Food Starch (wheat).
Countries outside the US may use gluten products as their source.

It sounds like Annika is ready for the world and you are ready as well. The next few days should be very exciting.
Good thoughts and well wishes for you and Annika's new day.

Does anyone know if the Yoplait Light yogurts are gluten free?
I know they started marking them gluten free right near the ingredients, but I think I may have a batch from before they started doing this.
Jillilan,
I have always thought that Yoplait was gluten free, except for the cookies/granola ones. I love the whips.

Taco Bell has the least amount of gluten free foods that I know of, let alone the cross contamination risks. Rice, Pinto Beans, and a Tostado are the only items that are gluten free.
Please be cautious with TB.
EDIT: There is a very small section at the bottom of their site for the gluten sensitive. It is very difficult to see and almost goes unnoticed. I can't help but wonder why?
Yay Blood Test Tomorrow!
