  1. I beleive that gluten free bread makes better stuffing (I am not kidding) The density of the bread allows the stuffing to soak up more stock and seasoning without becoming "slimy" or "too wet or dry". Take 1 loaf of gluten free bread ( I use Food 4 Life and Whole Paychecks Sund dried tomato loaf) and cut them so they are crouton size. Put them in...
  2. If they make you sick, do not eat them. However, they have been tested and shown to be gluten free...(University of Nebraska scientist and research department performed the tests). I just wanted to make sure the correct information was being given out.
  3. What have you been eating? include everything you can think of (condomints, spreads, etc) Did you change your to gluten free toiletries? Are you eating out at restaurants often? Do you buy gluten free food (bread is only a small part of it) Answer these and we can help you more...
  4. I have had a ford, a honda, a toyota, a jeep and an infiniti (currently) in my life. The Ford and the Jeep gave me nothing but trouble and repairs. The ford lasted 1.5 years until it "died". The jeep was a lease and I was happy to give it back - LOL The honda and toyota lasted 5 years each with no major repairs. The infiniti is new and no problems...
  5. Fords do not score well in customer satisfaction and service records. I would avoid buying a Ford. Honda or Toyota if you want a reliable car (for the money)
  6. The People's Co-Op in Ocean Beach has gluten free breads and pastas.
  7. Always make sure you order salad with dressing on the side !!!! (Dry) The bowls they use to toss the salads with have remnants of croutons in them (among other things) this is one of the biggest CC pitfalls out there. hope you feel better! p.s. Also, at Outback - order the food without butter or seasoning. Ask the manager to get you butter on...
  8. As I have said in similar posts, for price, dependability and reliability, the best cars to buy (based on customer satisfaction, low cost of repairs and the ability to last several years, you simply cannot beat a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry
  9. p.s. Jake only works dinner shifts at the Prado. Tell him you have the same allergies as "Burk". He will know what you are talking about. Other places to try in San diego: 1. The Gaslamp Strip Club - a steakhouse where you cook your own steak on big grills - good stuff and the steaks are cheaper! 2. San Diego Fish Market (on the harbor) -great...
  10. when I went to college (Ohio St), I went to Cancun three times! LOL The beach is great, the bars are fun, but the food sucks (gluten free or otherwise). Bring plenty of gluten free chips, snacks and bread. Stick with burgers when you can - normally safe. Here are the places I ate when I was down there: 1. Senor Frogs 2. Carlos N Charlies...
  11. FYI, 99% of food companies should be putting this on the label - 100% purely gluten free companies are rare... I like that they are honest about it. At least you aware of the risk. Are you saying that only companies that are 100% gluten free should be able to donate to CDF? That doesn't make much sense. CDF needs as ,uch money as possible. I could care...
  12. Celiacs have the most interesting stool on the planet. Keep reading the message boards, this is not uncommon...
  13. FYI, in my 10+ years as a Celiac, I have never encountered a pepperoni that contained gluten. The only sausage I have seen that contains gluten is made by Farmer John. Quaker products are not reliable and are notorious for CC issues. I would be willing to bet that Quaker made him sick...
  14. I can understand the education thing (I have over $100,000 in student loans). However, the mixer is ridiculous, disgusting and in poor taste. However, the holidays are about giving, sooooooooooo, as much as it sucks, its always better to be the better person. If I were you, I would sell the mixer for the $200. Wait until after Christmas and get a Kitchen...
  15. Hey gang, I saw this on Emeril Live ! last night and it occurred to me as I was watching it that it is a gluten free dessert (and incredibly easy to make) - I am going to make this for my nieces at X-Mas! Enjoy: Emeril's POPCORN M&M CAKE (From www.foodnetwork.com) Here's something great that my mom, Miss Hilda, used to make for the holidays when...
  16. He's a quack and should lose his medical license (if he has one - haha). Tell him that you met a guy that can cure back problems with hypnosis and see what he says... Moron (him, not you)
  17. did anyone else think this person might have celiac disease? Here is the story from the AP: Flatulence Forces Plane to Land NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- An American Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing Monday morning after a passenger lit a match to disguise the scent of flatulence, authorities said. The Dallas-bound flight was...
  18. I really enjoy Kinnkinnick's bread as well (as long as it is toasted). Otherwise, I really like Whole Foods Gluten Free Sun Dried Tomato Bread - YUMMY! I just bought a breadmachine, but I haven't the foggiest idea how to use it. I hope to gain some courage in 2007 and go buck wild while baking bread! Rebecca, try www.kinnikinnick...
  19. K, have you tried www.personalcreations.com ? I usually get my mom something from there every year!
  20. FYi, Amy's makes a terrific gluten free mac n cheese Also, the kraft mac n cheese "powder mix" is gluten free. You can actaully buy it separately at Wal Mart. Just cook Tinkyada pasta, add the butter, milk and Kraft powder mix and voila!
  21. Its nice that HBH and HH are catering to us. FYI, I seem to remember someone getting a ham from HBH last year that was supposedly gluten-free, but they still had some serious cross contamination issues. I make my own with Hormel Cure 81 hams, brown sugar and honey...
  22. Here is a homemade recipe for Skyline chili - its close! Cincinnati Chili Recipe 1 large onion chopped 1 pound extra-lean ground beef 1 clove garlic, minced 1 tablespoon chili powder 1 teaspoon ground allspice 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground cumin 1/2 teaspoon red (cayenne) pepper 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa...
  23. Folks, Just reminding everyone (especially the newbies) to not eat "HoneyBaked HamS Co" Hams They are NOT GLUTEN FREE and you will get sick... Otherwise, Have a Happy Turkey Day!!! BB
  24. FYI, I have gotten sick every time I have gone to a buffet (except breakfast ones). Too many people, too much cross contamination. If you must eat, ask the manager about the food preparation. If he is an idiot, stick to salads, Baked Potatoes and Steamed veggies... Meats are notorious for gluten filled marinades at those places (Soy Sauces, flours...
  25. Lisa, Thanks. I actually bought three bags yesterday I will mix it and then put it in the oven....Hope this goes well. Sheesh, between my mashed taters, my cheesecake and my GB Casserole, I might start buying stock in Philly Cream Cheese...
