Yes constipation is something some of us get do to magnesium deficiency, if you had this I would have suggest a different brand (Natural Vitality Calm) it requires special dosing for us and can be a bit harsh on the gut and you have to ease into it. Yeah I also have list of gluten free alternatives that will be updated soon, but whole foods should be...

I do not know the reference range for your blood test but I assume positive? The intestine has the surface area of a tennis court. SO I imagine you just have patchy damage and they missed it. Go ahead and go gluten free, keep a food diary, and read the newbie 101 thread about how to clean out your kitchen what to replace. Also remove dairy and oats, dairy...

I tend to ask alot of questions and ask managers, I make sure they know about my issues. I choose menu options and eat at places that tend to be safer...IE do not eat at subway, a pizza place, or a gluten based bakery, the flour and CC risk are much greater. I go to the local chilis where they specifically use a conveyor oven for roasting veggies and fish...

They just came out with 2 new flavors....OMG they have a Spicy Beef Ramen broth flavored one and a curried chicken both bone broth supplements. Not tried them yet but getting some on my next order bit high in sodium but a partial dosing for a side dish might be alright. Thinking some of that make some broth add in miracle noodle no carb noodles for small...

Just diagnosed - bad doctor communication, please help
Ennis-TX replied to shelbygf94's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Read the newbie 101 thread, will help you learn to read labels, and decon your kitchen, you will have to replace certain utensils, scratched pots/pans, colanders etc. Change to a whole foods only diet to make things simple and avoid processed foods....DO NOT even try gluten free breads for a few months til you forget the flavor/texture...then you no longer... -
I run a gluten and grain free bakery, the grit is always noticeable in some degree, I find our bases using coconut and almond flours tend to be softer then before we went grain free, well aside from the experiments we did with high starch breads, but those were diabetic nightmares. Pricing we pay $3-4/lb for our organic coconut flour, we pay around $5-...

Cotton Candy
Ennis-TX replied to snklivie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Out of curiosity of the absurdness of the idea, I checked with my supplier for my bakery about if they sell cotton candy mix. Found they have a entire line from "Great Western" and it is all gluten free per the manufacture. Of course they could use something else. My question is if they put something else in the machines at one point for a "fun" experiment... -
Becoming a personal trainer with a focus on celiac
Ennis-TX replied to tylerpc73's topic in Sports and Fitness
Would probably do to study as a nutritionist and have a side certification in that, with that information you can build personal diet plans for you clients with that backing and the personal training certifications. Everyone is different in the way they metabolize foods, and require different ratios of fats, carbs, protein, and the form of exercise they do... -
Mucus in the stool in generally a sign of intestinal irritation, the intestines excrete the mucus as a protective coating agent against things that irritate it, often in the large intestines and colon. After a bout of D or a UC flare up I often get more mucus in my stool....really nothing you can do, and it is actually a good thing and a sign of healing....

I would go with something less permanent, with the way gene editing is going, probably in the next 10-20 years you can have the genes edited too remove genetic diseases. I know I am messed up, and will not try to reproduce til we can edit the genes.

Well this got my hopes up to no avail, I checked websites, and called a few of them. All the same thing, shared facility and in many cases they can not guarantee it is safe for celiac. They are gluten free for the health conscious individuals. Here is a thought to consider....ever worked in the food business with pizza? They often have more flour around...

6 year old requires biopsy
Ennis-TX replied to Mbajwa's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes....and as every one has missed....they were done "Separately" on different days. Did one they followed up with the other, both had a laxative prep. -
6 year old requires biopsy
Ennis-TX replied to Mbajwa's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hearing this now makes sense.....so unsure if my doctor was just a being A22 or doing it just cause, but he gave me a prep sheet with those instructions for both the endo and the colon scope and I did them separately. -
6 year old requires biopsy
Ennis-TX replied to Mbajwa's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If the endoscope is done right in the hospital there is no trauma what so ever, you do not even notice they did a biopsy. You go in they put you on a IV (this might scare your kid) then when you go in they inject this white stuff into the IV and you get the best sleep of your life, and wake up with everything done with complete loss that time even passed... -
Soy Lecithin ?
Ennis-TX replied to LilyR's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
YEP. Soy milk, soy protein, plain soy...I get really bad cramping, gas. Soy lecitin, in supplements, protein powders, or in food additives has never bothered me at all....and I am sensitive to the most random things. -
Might delete this one, this talks about making any "DIET" easier to follow by allowing a 20% error of cheating......yeah that will kill you with celiac, or at least never let you get better. For the sake of misconception and confusing people lets just delete this one since it has nothing to really do with Celiac. The only mention of celiac has been changed...

Regaining a normal life
Ennis-TX replied to Dunnie's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Now, think of it like this, you lost the weight you have no fat...now if you put muscle on that frame you would look awesome. I have been body building with celiac past few years. I use a hight fat/protein diet, hardly any carbs (my UC flares to carbs/sugars) almost a keto diet. The high fat/protein diet will be great for managing your diabetes. If you need... -
10 year old celiac and irrational, awful tantrums
Ennis-TX replied to Ari's mom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Should test for celiac, if offical diagnosis the schools will adhere to it and make sure he stays away from it....otherwise they will probably let him slide a few times and think of you as a overprotective....read up on it here https://celiac.org/celiac-disease/understanding-celiac-disease-2/diagnosing-celiac-disease/screening/ -
"stabilizers"...
Ennis-TX replied to elye's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
First this post is from 12 years ago, starting a new post with the specific product in question will get you more relevant answers the labeling laws have changed a bit since then. If the Stabilizers were wheat or a major allergen they have to list it in the ingredients. Most likely in ice cream a stabilizer is like the commercial grade fibersol a form... -
Anal Bleeding?
Ennis-TX replied to melrobsings's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
This is a older post from 5+ years ago, if your having this issue perhaps start a new thread for yourself. I will say the red blood on the TP is not upper digestive tract (this would be tarish) but lower like the colon. If you have red blood on your stool, TP, I would get a colonoscopy, if yours flares to gluten also, then it sounds like Ulcerative Colitis... -
Keep a food diary, and see if you can find some of those odd ingredients on the list in other foods and see if they bother you, process of elimination. Heck could be the sugar, caffeine load setting of your intestinal bacteria into rage mode, or the coffee irritating your intestines. Anyway side thought, I been doing the coffeefellow ship at my church, I...

Til you learn to read labels, and learn about the iffy foods we suggest a whole foods only diet, and keeping a food diary. Remove dairy and oats for while also, damaged villi from this disease mean you will not break down lactose well, and oats are very commonly contaminated and some react to them regardless. Whole food meals like omelettes, stews, soups...

Gluten Free Yogurt?
Ennis-TX replied to ashleyt120's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Might check for pancreas issues and taking enzymes, might be a dead, or weak pancreas. It sounds like a digestive enzyme issue. -
Always ill
Ennis-TX replied to Katsnkids's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Quite....gluten is smaller then a germ, it is a protein like blood, and your body is reacting to it destroying your intestines trying to kill it. IT can and often will go on to effect other organs and cause other issues, it will give you higher chances of cancer, lymphoma, allergies, nutrient deficiencies, other immune diseases. We have lost members to all...
