gas and pain
Ennis-TX replied to selalagomez's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Could be celiac but to get tested you will have to do a gluten challenge where you eat gluten for 12 weeks for blood test or just 2 weeks for the biopsy. Some do not test positive on blood test but will show on the biopsy so this might be a path to take. Oh yeah simple starter ideas Cookware, Noridware makes microave grill plates with splatter covers, omlette makers, steamers so you can avoid replacing everything in one go and they are later great for traveling/hotels. Butcher/Freezer paper, use it for a clean safe prep area/eating mat, and makes clean up super easy Foil Line baking sheets and dishes... -
I am blessed to have found a good dentist that will work with financing and good pricing, just having to wait til my family gets the money which will be soon to get the down payment. Well the problem with working in other places...I have found some gluten free places...that work with corn which I am highly allergic to. The so called Paleo places still...

Poorly celiac! ):
Ennis-TX replied to Gabbz12's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Read the newbie 101 thread, whole foods diet is great to start, Remove dairy (damaged villi mean you can not utilize the enzymes and properly break down dairy so it will burden your system and cause lactose intolerance) and oats (commonly CCed and some celiacs react to it) also, but I have compiled list of some safe alternatives. Eating out is Russian roulette... -
Might be getting lucky the infection is responding to this Sovereign silver stuff I was told to take. The tooth, does not feel like my tooth but a dull foreign object in my mouth, it wiggles a bit now. If it falls out, that saves me a few hundred dollars. Pushing my chef jobs more, and.....having some issues with my bakery I will highlight in a week once...

As my nutritionist would say avoid soy like the plague, soy lectin not so much of a issue but actual soy products I would. It is known to cause hormone issues. I have my own extensive list of no foods myself...I recently had the sesame issue go away a year or so ago and the shell fish/fish is the only meats I can eat. Celiac so no gluten, lactose intolerant...

Wedding Frustrations
Ennis-TX replied to Jordanaustino's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Sorry this happened, one thing I might suggest and pointers for anyone else. Get a 100% gluten free place to cater for the Gluten free side, and keep the gluten on one side of hall gluten free on the others so no one mixes up the serving ware or double dips. Perhaps renew your vows in a year or so and have a REDO with extra precautions for your honeymoon... -
Delta Airlines gluten-free unfriendly!
Ennis-TX replied to SDMcClanahan's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Yeah, most cases like anything when traveling we have to provide for ourselves. I suggest stuff like Julian Bakery bars, Kind bars, rythem kale chips, mygerbs seeds, etc. Although airlines recently started carrying gluten free and peanut free almonds, and gluten-free cookies, I do not know if delta was one of them that got on that bandwagon. -
Overweight but not like I should be?
Ennis-TX replied to Cari1030's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Umm back when I was just starting college I weighed over 200lbs and had a 36-38" waist. I had several symptoms of the disease back then but they changed in my 20s after a incident and I dropped weight like crazy. Now days I struggle to gain weight and weigh about 130lb Size and weight retention can happen with celiacs, our bodies are designed to try to... -

Ennis-TX replied to Bookgirl32's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Against the grain (starch bomb), Julian Bakery, Mike'ys Muffins , etc. make grain free breads, He really might like hte Julian Bakery Seed Melody one he might like just order fresh from them as the WHole foods ones and Amazon ones tend to be old. How long did it take for you to have no more bad days?
Ennis-TX replied to MOOO's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The other issues you mention sound like deficiency issues...common ones in fact for celiacs. Look up the the symptoms for B-vitamins, Magnesium, Vitamin D, etc. I use Liquid Health, Stress & Energy and Neurological Support 1 tbsp each 3 times a day as a full spectrum liquid B-vitmain blend, I use the D3 drops from the same company. I rotate my magnesium... -
How long did it take for you to have no more bad days?
Ennis-TX replied to MOOO's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Nope...gut still dictates my life. It has things other then gluten it has issues with...this is the standard each person is different but with this disease you develop food intolerance issues and sensitivities. I know many that have issues with Xantham gum, we have a few members with issues to tomatoes and other nightshades. I think 2 members have issues... -
Sounds like you might have gotten glutened, even tiny amounts will make me become more numb to pain, heat, and start dropping things. Read the Newbie section...medical gluten free had one hell of a learning curve and is very strict with having to replace certain items and utensils and read every label. You will react to less then a crumb with celiac...gluten...

Red blood in stool is a sign of a issue in the colon/large intestine. Upper GI bleeding would leave a tarish stool. A gluten/celiac flare could have irritated other issues in your large intestines like hemorrhoids, diverticulitis, or if JUST LIKE ME Ulcerative Colitis will have me blowing blood like that. UC common flares to gluten and everyone is a bit...

Try keepin a food diary and rotating you diet, remove some of the common allergens for while and stuff like dairy, soy, peanuts. Then try rotating out stuff like nuts, coconut, night shades, corn, grains. for a few days each and see if you can find a trigger, also remove spices and try more bland meals during this period. could i have celiac disease?
Ennis-TX replied to FOSCOR70's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you suspect celiac you need to get tested, there is a blood test which they normally follow up with a endoscope and biopsy to check for villi damage. You have to be eating gluten daily for the test so do not start the gluten free diet yet. Read up more here. Open Original Shared Link -
Sounds like it might be more of a allergy to some other ingredient, I get blisters from a corn allergy I got after Celiac, and we are more prone to allergies, intolerance, and food sensitivities. I also have a peanut issue...going to tell you how I get my butter cup fix. I mix up a custom batch of that sweetened nut butter here is the trick, 1 cup...

Crazy turn of events for daughter!
Ennis-TX replied to Carolina's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
With UC you have a few other additional common triggers and some like me have the more rare triggers. Gluten Free, Diary Free, Soy Free are the big ones, easy on spices, and for me the odd ball was that mine flared to glucose/fructose with Diarrhea and blood in the stool. I found higher potassium helped with D, I started making baked good with coconut... -
Still says contains wheat, hydrolyzed can be gluten free...and nothing about testing. >,> does not matter to me I do not eat potaotes anyway and they have corn oil and milk derivatives. BUT as a side of caution I would still never suggest a celiac eat at a Mc Ds with all the chances of CC, poor employee training. Maybe the prepacked yogurt and apple...

Wait the ones in Canada are gluten free? In the US they have contains wheat warnings on the ingredients for the fries.

Before diagnosis I used to get extreme brain fog with gluten, and my mind would loop, and not do things I wanted it to, thoughts would not move, I could not do something knowing I should be able to. This led to confusion and EXTREME bouts of anger out of the frustration sometimes punching walls or banging my head on the wall to make it work (attempt) Called...

I only have this one symptom when eating gluten
Ennis-TX replied to jdsalinas's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Sounds like either celiac or Ulcerative Colitis...UC really fits with the C and bleeding. Both flare to gluten, IF You really want to make the stools softer look up Natural Vitality Calm, Take 1/4tsp (1-2g) a day starting every day up it another 1/4tsp (1-2g) til you reach 2tsp or go beyond til you get loose stools then dose back down dosing to tolerance... -

Spelt Flour
Ennis-TX replied to jason's mom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Umm this thread is over 15 years old...and has very bad info in that post you quoted. Spelt is wheat. Feel sorry for the person that was using it NOTE as a bakery owner I got to admit the combo of tapioca with psyillum in a warm dough mix is fun and stretchy, konjac added more slime to it and bakes airyer and less dense, I find using either psyillum...
