  1. OH wow, yeah that would, make you get on the gluten free diet easier, many of us talk about gluten withdrawal, and have a hard time changing out diet. Some articles talk about gluten and dairy having a opiate like effect....Naltrexone, is a drug used to help break opiate addiction so I can see this making the transition and acceptance of the new diet easier...
  2. Well it breaks done some of the gluten in the stomach before reaching the small intestines. It does not destroy all of it , is it depends on how much is eaten, stomach acidity, when the enzyme is taken, and the time it takes for your stomach to dump to the intestines. Basically it will not prevent all damage, it will help reduce it by reducing gluten content...
  3. Yeah looked into them before, great for those with nightshade issues, corn free too boot. Flaw for me is 8g of sugar in a serving....more then I have in most meals, would probably throw me out of ketosis and flare my UC. Thanks anyway will help anyone else with nightshade, corn, dairy, gluten soy issues but not so much like me with that sugar issue.
  4. So for years I have had this issue...of all BBQ sauces either having one of my NOs in them or having too much sugar. Like everything either has Corn Syrup, Corn starch, wheat based soy sauce, wheat based smoke flavor, soy, xantham gum, or tons of sugar.... I thought I was condemned to homemade sauce, lea & perry Worcestershire sauce, and colin liquid...
  5. Well I made a amazing discovery about my olive allergy....its not olives. I got some olive oil on 2 occasions in the past year, that upon putting it on my finger and licking it my mouth goes numb and my cheeks, tongue and throat swell followed by vomiting. I have had some vegan cheese, and some sauces with "olive oil" that doe not do this. I recently...
  6. Two things this could be but first a disclaimer, if your celiac, any wheat regardless will still slowly destroy your intestines and cause reactions, same with any gluten grains. It might be less traumatic but your still going to slowly poison and kill yourself eating it. Flour in America is grown and processed in a way that removes fibers, and has a...
  7. If it is any condolence I can not eat pork either, for years after eating it I just vomit it back up, we assume it has to do with the fats and my pancreas breaking them down, or a very mild intolerance. I initially switched over to turkey sausage, bacon etc, Jennie-O is certified gluten-free, but found that a few years later would not digest (this was the...
  8. Some people ask what I use for breading that is gluten and grain free. Here are my top 3 Chip Breading Simple, preseasoned, 1bag of chips (I use Open Original Shared Link as they are low carb the Zesty Nacho, BBQ, Chili & Lime and even the Toasted Coconut all have their own niche in breading foods) 1 cup Coconut Flour 4 eggs 2 cup almond...
  9. Found these in my local store, many Korean recipes use these for a base so a gluten free options here is sort of a savior for Korean cooking. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  10. What pigs eat would note really get to your eating their meat, this might be different with something that you can not clean out well or eat part of the digestive tract like farmed crayfish, shrimp, or poorly cleaned fish/chicken. But pork...unless your eating part of the intestines the meat should not bother you if they ate even pure wheat. Brown rice...
  11. I honestly use a grain free quick bread in my bakery, we gave up grains completely. But I will lend you some advice. First off, give up bread for a few months if your first going gluten free, you have ot forget the bread taste and get new standards. Next few tips with gluten free breads, Gluten breads use the the gluten "glue" to give it that...
  12. Yeah you have to eat it til they are done with all the testing, backward part of this disease is the dia. There are 100s of symptoms with this disease, you probably have a few you have considered "Normal" for years, and after a year or so you will like a new you. Go ahead and read over the newbie 101 thread for now and prehaps start cleaning out...
  13. There are multiple blood test for the disease, and you have to be eating gluten daily for it to even show up. But some people test negative on the blood test. The gold standard is a Endoscope with biopsies to check for damaged villi. Open Original Shared Link Oh for your D issues, higher potassium foods can help dry the stool out and eating...
  14. Yeah their shreds raw are nasty but melted in recipes they are decent, they make 2 different shreds a cutting board super stretchy version and a plain, they also sell that mac and cheese sauce by itself for use in other recipes. Open Original Shared LinkThe company makes a decent cream cheese and cheese cake also if you can stomach the xantham gum. I...
  15. Dairy is dairy on a elimination diet, your trying to void all the proteins, lactose, whey, casein, and the enzymes, hormones, pus, etc that could be setting off issues. I would even say wait at first on the dairy free alts. IF anything go with the fewest ingredients ones without starches or gums like the plain kite hills, tree line, leaf cuisines and miyoko...
  16. I use wink or make my own coconut nicecream with swerve sweetner or monkfruit. Recently found this instant make you own mix dairy free from Open Original Shared Link
  17. I would avoid those "noodles" starches = gas right now. I avoid most stuff like cabbage, broccoli in all but the smallest amounts (1 leaf or 2-4 sprigs) and cook til mush. I found higher density vitamin greens to be best to avoid wasting the room I had for food, stuff like spinach, kale, butter leaf, romaine all have much higher ratios of vitamin A and...
  18. I would really suggest following up with GFinDC suggestion and get tested for celiac. Your complaints about the fatigue, joint issues, fog, anxiety, depression and worsening ADHD are all things I used to get in highschool way before my diagnosis. See about starting the gluten challenge of eating it daily for 8-12 weeks and getting the blood test. If you feel...
  19. Fun fact, google your doctors name, 2-4 review sites will have them and their info. You can submit a public review of your doctor.......inform people of this story on the review sites and this doctors "incompetence" in relation to your disease.
  20. Yeah, once you go gluten free with say celiac or NCGS, if you accidentally eat it later....your immune system jumps on it MUCH harder....and can even cause more complications or food sensitivities after exposures as your body might accidentally associate other foods with gluten for awhile. I have so many personal stories of these things happening and...
  21. Yes, I have a small gluten free bakery in Ennis, do mostly grain free baked goods, and I do local chef work for people, and sometimes help catering with larger events. The fiber in those bars I found does not bother me...I am odd with this diet in I eat large fiber from select sources with no issues. But fiber from raw veggies, or carbs/sugar will bother...
  22. I would remove the fructose (Fruit) and go easy on the rice and potatoes. Seems you tried the low fat side of it as some people can not handle much fat, might try the low carb approach and see if you get improvements. You can get more calories in with stuff like almond butter, sun butter, walnut butter, avocados anyway. Try rotating to a lower carb higher...
  23. I have Ulcerative Colitis, it flares after my celiac to gluten also, and dairy exposures, along with soy, spices, and if I over do it on stuff like onion/garlic. It also in my case hates fructose/glucose, rare but some people have that also as a trigger. I like you enjoyed a "not so restrictive" diet on my Rx for the disease, I could have spices, garlic...
  24. Summer time is among us, and not every one has the local Gluten Free ice cream catering like I run or make your own SO I found this recent list of gluten free frozen treats. They have the listed allergens, and even gives you list of dedicated facilities. Ice creams Open Original Shared Link Popsicle Open Original Shared Link
  25. Might be your new regular, if you went to a whole foods diet with plenty of veggies, etc. And less processed crap your getting more fiber. I used to get constipation before going gluten free....yours could be a similar issue but just 2 months is a rather short time. Many times constipation is brought on by magnesium issues, healed gut, etc. can fix this...
