Ditto kareng, first are you celiac, and were you tested? You need to see about a firm diagnosis. Open Original Shared Link IF you are celiac then with damaged villi you do not digest or break down lactose.....the villi that are blunted/destroyed are responsible with the enzymes to break them down....so higher lactose dairy foods will be worse then lower...

Thing about UC is alcohol will make me bleed, >.< I found extracts that make the drink taste that good anyway (fun with sucrose, Capella Flavors, drinks, and sparkling water/zevia soda are great Friday nights).....I always had a insane alcohol tolerance so I never got the "buzz" unless I downed quite a bit of hard stuff. So I am not missing much and...

Ennis-TX replied to LilyR's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
>.> Every other meal, I use it in sauces, and sprinkles, I have 3 seasonings blends, 2 I even make and sale, and a pesto recipes that uses it, sometimes mixed into egg whites to add in the missing nutrients from the yolks. I have some "Poor Mans" versions of vegan cheese sauces that are a tad gritty and use nut milk and coconut flour, most use cashews... -
Do you take in calories when eating gluten?
Ennis-TX replied to lvers's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
You absorb less definitely, but it really depends on What your eating, Your metabolism, How long, Gut damage, and what your getting. IF you eat a high carb diet by example and go into it your more likely to hold on to weight a bit longer as your body can still pull sugars for fuel....if your like me and on a keto diet...your body is already using fat for... -
Help with Suntan Lotion
Ennis-TX replied to Jen1104's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Found this recently....looks like a nice natural one and a higher SPF, I like the oil blends it uses as they seem familiar like the ones i use in my body washes Jojoba, Shea, Eucalyptus, Coconut, etc. Wonder if it makes you ghost white like some other natural ones I have found? Waves of feeling like crap?
Ennis-TX replied to DomJoe's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It varies from person to person, healing, how actual gluten free you are (contaminated foods, eating out, shared living area etc), diet, and supplements. Please read over the newbie 101 section to make sure your doing it right....there is a huge learning curve and things you would not even think of. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info... -
There is the rare chance of it being Refractory Celiac Disease, but I think it might be more of a issue like crohns or Ulcerative Colitis. For a couple of years after going gluten-free I found that fruits, sugar, grains, were making me bloat, distend, and have bloody stool. I later found via a colon scope that I had Ulcerative Colitis and those were my triggers...

Here is a fun idea, forgot the bun Hamburger salad bar Fix your favorite gluten free hamburgers the way you normally would. Each bowl is filled with chopped iceberg lettuce and one chopped up burger patty In separate bowls put your toppings, Diced Fresh tomato, Chopped bacon, diced onion, cheese shreds/chopped slices, pickles, or anything you like on...

The fever is a odd one...makes me think you might have gotten food poisoning. It is sometimes possible for homemade salsa to get a bacteria issue as a mess up in the canning procedure makes it a prime spot for culturing. Also depending on method. I would suggest removing spicy foods and diary for a week or two til your stomach settles down. Pepto and or...

Gluten free cost
Ennis-TX replied to MrsBilbreySanchez's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
well you got it cheap being able to live on washed rice, beans, veggies, and cheap whole meats. Look up simple meals like sheet pan meals, crock pot meals, omelettes, etc that can be done with gluten free whole foods cabbage, meat, potatoe soups in huge batches and stuff like rice gruel. When I first started on college kid budget, I did simple things like... -
Maltodextrin? (vitamin ingredients)
Ennis-TX replied to LilyR's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Vegetable cellulose in meds I have not noticed. BUT if it is ins a sauce or dressing like Walden Farms.....I will be puking that stuff up inside the hour. Not a gluten issues, and IF corn the proteins are so broken down they do not trigger the allergic reactions just a purge. Amusingly the stuff I use for folic acid is the liquid health stuff...it does... -
Christopher Bean Flavored coffees....desert in a cup. Republic of Tea, I use their super green teas like the get lean has a nice cinnamon profile, and the immunity one helps with stuff. Zevia Soda....it is soda sweetened with stevia, free of that nasty corn syrup and artificial dyes and they make knock offs of every soda flavor. They Also make some nice...

Ciroc is a grape base, Tito is a corn base with actual gluten-free certifications, and there was a Russian imported potato vodka.......damn I miss back before diagnosis I used to use this pinnacle whipped vodka (wheat based vodka) in a orange soda...you get get 2-6 shots in a glass and hardly notice the alcohol. I use sparkling orange water or zevia now,...

I got to agree with kareng on this, perhaps just checking in on him daily instead of living with him in the same house? I had to move out of my parents house and get a dedicated home because of how stress full it was with people that did not understand. I can give you a few tips. Butcher/Freezer Paper, lay it down for a clean prep surface and you can...

Other AI Disorders
Ennis-TX replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Pretty sure type 1 can develop at any age.....we suspect my mother has celiac for years and she just got type 1 almost 2 years ago. (she is in her 50s?) I probably had my other AI disease for 2-3 years before it was diagnosed. I had the bleeding in my stool for over 2 years before they found Ulcerative Colitis. I was diagnosed with Celiac over 5 years... -
This is a old post from 2012, you should start a new thread about your current issues, symptoms, timing, and perhaps start keeping a food diary. I do have an initial thought on this. Look up Lectin Intolerance, they are present in beans, peanuts, wheat, rye, barley, oats, and in other grains/seeds to a lesser extent.

Help with Suntan Lotion
Ennis-TX replied to Jen1104's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Open Original Shared Link They also make a face applicator stick, fragrance and gluten free. I think they even make a more natural one. -
Ditto on cycling lady but a few other things to consider if perhaps it is celiac and they did not catch it on the blood panel (they did not do a complete blood panel like so many fail to do) or if your one of those that test negative on blood but still react with damaged intestines. Open Original Shared Link Assuming your celiac like what it sound like...

Cyclinglady had some good thoughts on eating out, do not do it unless it is 100% gluten free, or you order something simple, know how it is fixed, and be one of the first customers in the door when they are not busy. (My local chilis knows me, I go there right when they open for lunch meet some people/family sometimes, and I only order roasted veggies and...

What the F***!?
Ennis-TX replied to pdm1981's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
....I would get the copies of the biopsy from those years past.....of course a strict gluten free diet for 6 years would leave a healed gut. FFS mine was fixed after a bit more then 3, with no damage on the biopsy (the the area is the size of a tennis court, could have missed it). Numbers down mean something, what test were done? IF the full panel was done... -
I need to vent...
Ennis-TX replied to Maddiecl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yeah I get rolling intolerance even 5 years into the diet.....honestly your issue sounds like you got glutened or have something else if you distended. I get the distention with Ulcerative Colitis flares also. The day you got sick did you eat anything new or do something that might have CCed your food? IE forgot to wash your hands after handling something... -
About 5 years now? Had the disease much longer....just diagnosed when I thought I was dying lol. Numbness can be from various B vitamins, Magnesium, or if like me it can be peripheral neuropathy caused by gluten ataxia. Basically your immune system also attacking your nervous system and brain.....Mine caused a few complications partially due to this...
