So I have a bit of a challenge next week, I have to baby sit a 10-12 year old cousins. They each have their own quirks, and unaddressed health issues but I leave that to their parents. But they are both picky eaters, they dislike seasonings, they dislike condiments, they dislike combination foods (soups, lasagna, casseroles, stews, omelettes, anything they... -

So I was seeing my chiropractor for my monthly adjustment (can not see weekly due to funding so we spaced my appointments monthly) to fix some issues with my spine. They did a type of electrical nerve impulse reading using these sensors they placed along my spine. Anyway it showed heightened activity on most and normal on a few...but my T7 was showing like...

ARCHIVED Diverticulitis or Celiac Flare
Ennis-TX replied to ktyler44's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
This is a bit of a personal choice, you have genes and react badly to it. Some people will have the reaction in hours some withing days...weeks might be pushing it if you did it then stopped but do not quote me. The Gluten Challenge for the blood test takes 12 weeks of eating gluten, not much maybe a 1/2 slice of bread, few crackers, or a tsp of vital wheat... -
ARCHIVED Trouble figuring out food intolerances
Ennis-TX replied to saraszat's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Sounds like your following the food elimination diet and finding your issues pretty well. Might consider taking a digestive enzyme to help break down your foods. Everyone is a bit different in what their bodies handles I know some who can not handle fats and lots of protein and others like me who can not have carbs sugars and live on a keto diet of fats and...- 3 replies

ARCHIVED Probiotics
Ennis-TX replied to DKneeland's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
For a probiotic I use Nature Way Fortify, My GI suggested Align and tried selling it to me (I swear they get commissions on it) despite it having dairy....I have issues with dairy so I did my research and went with the Nature Way one. I actually use it to make non dairy yogurt out of nut milks and get my probiotics that way. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED How to tell 11-year-old daughter she has Celiac?
Ennis-TX replied to aballard's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
This is a tough one, you will probably have to mix up lies and truths, play it out as a allergy? Explain her body now thinks these certain foods are poison and will make her sick. SO she has to avoid them to keep from getting sick. If she has obvious symptoms she will catch on fast after entering a gluten free phase. Once gluten free for a while and truly... -
Ok so no nuts, but I know seeds can be harsh, when my gut is being a pain, I get seed butters like sunbutter, and homemade pumpkin seed butter, and often blend them into warm water to make seed milks for smoothies, Cocoa butter a option or pure unsweetened full fat cocoa? Candida...oh god that guy, had it for awhile, I did candida FX for treatment but it...

ARCHIVED chronic constipation with diarrhea post diagnosis
Ennis-TX replied to jpahule's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Be careful with miralax it can cause all kinds of issues after long term use, I went with magnesium citrate as my constipation was actually related to magnesium difenicy. But back to the miralax...the stuff has many adverse effects with long term use. I learned it was bad for me after being told to use it for a scope prep. Most negative studies of propylene... -
My first sign to a gluten exposure used to be my lymph nodes swelling, has not happened in over a year with recent exposures but this disease always changes symptoms it seems. Have you been sticking very strictly to the gluten free diet avoiding eating out, processed foods or stuff that might be contaminated? You might want to get your antibodies checked...

Have you been tested for celiac? If celiac is something you considering that might be plaguing you, then you need to be tested. I can not digest animal fats myself, they float and get puked up later, animal meat is the same for me, fish and crab can pass but come out undigested in the stool. We learned this year it is related to my pancreas not producing the enzymes to break them down in combination with a weaker stomach acid in the evenings. Got a small article on enzymes here https...

ARCHIVED Test Results...Please Help
Ennis-TX replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you show signs of improvement off of gluten and test negative for celiac....you probably have NCGS. We have members that can attest to the fact that even with just NCGS gluten has a MAJOR effect on the brain, in some cases reported worse then someone with celiac disease. B-vitamins...avoid taking just b-12 you need to take the full spectrum together... -

Ennis-TX replied to XaK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Growing up I was always bullied fellow asperger guy here, often describe myself as a mild sheldon cooper. Ennis-TX replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I just got to this thread.....yeah those early years of thinking I was dying going between 5 different doctors with all the bull s$#& and running my bucket list.......you poor thing I want to shelter you and treat you to a safe environment and let you vent.....odd feeling but sometimes when you see a fellow celiac or someone with the same gluten issues... -
Magnesium is a common issue, with sleeping I found doctors Best in the powder in a warm beverage works great. I also use pumpkin seen protein to help me sleep, you take 2tsp of it in a warm glass of almond or cashew milk before bed. It helps the body with serotonin and melotonin production. Jarrow Pumpkin Seed protein is the cheapest right now on luckyvitamin...

New microwave needed?
Ennis-TX replied to Ga3's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Eventually maybe, but clean it out real good, use paper towels on the bottom when cooking in it. AND what i do even when at hotels is use Nordic ware grill plates with the over the top splatter cover, the omelette maker, steamer, etc. The microwave cookware is practically disposable at the price if you mess up and is cheaper then replacing all other cookware... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Meal Delivery
Ennis-TX replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Funny thing I did several easy chicken dishes today and delivered. All were done using marinara sauce and chicken breast. 1. I marinaded 2 breast in the sauce and grilled them, sliced up and served over a chopped salad and delivered. 2. The other I poured 1 1/2 jars of the sauce in a foil lined baking dish, put 4 breast in it baked 350F covered for 30 mins... -
I used to drink coconut water as it is high in potassium, and magnesium. I now take a magnesium supplement, drink almond and cashew milks, and get potassium and other nutrients from coconut flour baked goods and using KAL nutritional yeast (look up that profile on the can for nutrients) as a condiment in sauces, homemade vegan cheese, and sprinkles.

Well a gluten challenge and a a formal diagnosis might be what you looking for. You have to be eating it for 12 weeks though to get the antibodies up, commonly refereed to as a gluten challenge, not much just about a half slice a bread a day or some members found taking a tsp of vital wheat gluten before bed was manageable. ARCHIVED chronic constipation with diarrhea post diagnosis
Ennis-TX replied to jpahule's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Me to a T, I just finished getting glutened and D now the C is setting back in to the point of vomiting when eating til I clear out. What I do are these 1. NEVER eat or drink cold food when stopped up, warm promotes your body to keep it moving not really hot but a bit above body temp. Cold your body freezes up til it can warm the stomach thus making...
