  1. Any kind of at point of sale/store fixed chicken has a moderate/high chance of CC from their kitchens. They fix these birds in bulk season them etc on the same cutter boards, knifes, etc. that they fix prepackaged breaded meats. like those on the foam boards in wrap that you buy in in the same market. This is normally done quickly without thoughts to "OH...
  2. Ditto XD, same your always getting that dust off, I am scared of non gluten free baking areas due to this. HECK I work with nut based flours and I would think they would not fly far but I guess the sifter does cause "Poofs".....that "poof" from opening a bag of flour.....yeah imagine that with gluten.....scary thought. Flour can stay airborne for hours...
  3. I wish, I dreamed I once worked at a Celiac half way house kind of thing. Be nice to have a place like that, you know teaches the diet, how to cook, nutritional classes, etc. There are camps for kids, like gluten free summer camps.
  4. Need a gluten free and keto friendly dinner roll? I made some that are a bit like those ones your used to buy in the square packages and finish off right before thanksgiving dinner. Chewy texture, bit moister, slight buttery, nuttiness Perfect to serve with gravy and turkey for thanksgiving. 86g coconut flour sifted 2 1/2tbsp nutritional yeast 2tbsp...
  5. OK on vegan protein powders, IF you have issues with pea this is not unheard of when I was first diagnosed I had a issue with it for like 6+ months which led me to discover a huge range of other vegan protein powders. LUCKILY that intolerance went away and pea protein is a huge part of my diet again. FOR now look up Pumpkin Protein powder, bit grainy but...
  6. As a chef it is a bit of fun, it is also stressful. BUT I get to have a FAMILY dinner with relatives in a SAFE environment no worries about gluten or corn making me sick or having a allergic reaction. THAT IS WORTH IT. Peace of mind with my family eating together like the old times.
  7. This year I am tasked with making thanksgiving for me and my diabetic parents. SO we are having Turkey roasted in a turkey bag rubbed with nutiva butter flavored coconut oil (under the skin and over the breast), liquid smoke and poultry seasoning, stuff with half a onion, 2 butts of celery bunches, and half a lemon and topped with bacon to keep it moist and...
  8. I suggest keep eating gluten and do your food bucket list of gluten foods and get the biopsy done. Blood test positive,,,,you most likely have celiac that means no more gluten for life, no cheating, just NO. Even crumbs, residue , CC will make your sick and damage you intestines. Take this time before the biopsy to confirm and enjoy your last gluten eating...
  9. There are 3 major things and all are related to malabsorbtion from celiac damage, Magnesium, B6, and a issue with serotonin and tryptophan. These can be addressed with supplements. For magnesium at night I found Doctors Best powdered magnesium is a great relaxing and makes you just want to sleep at night. B6 you can supplement with food or some companies...
  10. As many know I love hemp, and I used to always suggest it to everyone for helping mood, getting fats, fiber, regulating oneself etc. Thing is starting around June I started getting a bit iffy from my jarrow hemp, numbness, dropping things, walking into stuff, burning myself and not realizing it, brain fog then constipation creeping in despite excessive amounts...
  11. Good in theory but I have a feeling they will flop like all of the other enzyme therapies.....like trying to prevent the sticky floor and mess of pouring a glass of juice on the floor by putting down a pile of paper towels...you going to get most of it but some is going to get through some is going to splatter and cause collateral issues......you can not...
  12. They are supposed to make the symptoms shorter and less severe be eliminating some of the gluten. In theory they work, I know when I tried them years ago....I saw no effect, gluten was gluten and I was sick. This is why I am so against them and their marketing scheme and have advocated against them for a long time. PS some people on this board are paid by...
  13. Celiac disease test are going to give a negative result on a gluten free diet. To take the test you HAVE to be eating gluten daily for 12 weeks for the blood test. Due to the pain and agony we call it a Gluten Challenge. Then you have keep eating it for the endoscope and biopsy. If you have DH then then take a biopsy from a clear spot next to a lesion, I...
  14. I have seen this with many where they find different gluten foods, triggered different severity and types of reactions among celiacs. You need to keep eating gluten and see about the full blood test and endoscope with multiple biopsies for them to check, your skin issue might be DH. I do not have the DH symptoms but for those that do the gut damage is normally...
  15. This is common and several of our members have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity), most with this from what I have seen experience to even traces of gluten much like celiacs. You have to follow the diet like you have celiac disease. Please check the newbie 101 thread about cleaning out your house, kitchen, condiments, cookware, and avoiding CC. Yes healing...
  16. You just responded to a post from 2013 for more relevant responses in the future make a new thread. Regarding your issues I had bloody stool for years....thought it was something else perhaps related to celiac, but the issue for me turned out to be I had also developed Ulcerative Colitis and flare ups with it caused bleeding. For most flare ups with it...
  17. I am going to add on to cyclinglady great advise. I like to also bring my own baked goods with traveling so I can "Treat Myself" since I can not eat out when doing it (I have other issues like a corn allergy etc so eating out is much more limited). I take Nordic ware microwave cookware like omelette maker, cooking bowls, the round grill plate (MAKE sure you...
  18. I thought I would bring up a interesting topic of digestion enzymes. I myself have issues with digestive enzymes for me my issues spike in the evenings, it gets so bad in the lat day, that my dinner has to be a smoothies, porridge, shake, or super soft with no hard solids in it. Other wise I puke it up, I also find that I can not digest red meats, or poultry...
  19. I buy OTC digestive enzymes and take 2-3times the recommended dose so I can eat. Food is much easier to digest, less indigestion, less chance of puking. and weight gain. I use both Jarrow Enzymes Plus (I was on the vegan version but found the normal one works better) and Jarrow Bromelaine. I was taking a supper papaya enzyme but recent reformulation led to...
  20. Proof of Bull SH*T http://www.discoverpacifico.com/faq "What are the main ingredients in Pacifico? Pacifico contains Filtered Water, Yeast, Malted Barley, Corn, and Hops." " Does Pacifico contain gluten? There isn't an accepted methodology for testing gluten content in fermented beverages, so we cannot provide an accurate...
  21. I hate udi's for using corn in everything lol, I am allergic to it. But I am pretty sure all there stuff is made in a dedicated facility. Personally seaweed does not bother me and I go to wakame, kambu, and nori for iodine sources since I need to offset the large amounts of oxalate foods I eat. But I do have a allergy to corn and can tell of that pain in...
  22. They are not, Pacifico and Corona have gluten, you have been lied to. There are gluten free beers made from non gluten grains though. I use cider alternatives in my house for guest and cooking. Beer can not be tested accurately due to the nature of production and the elsia testing method. If you check the sites for those you listed they contain malted...
  23. My mental images and assumptions here of worst case have me confused. Do you only cook him fried food? Anyway a varied diet is also important with this disease, and plenty of leafy greens nuts ,seed, meats, eggs, etc. Cooked well and soft normally makes digestion easier. Stews, soups, nut flour/butter porridge, omelettes, salads, quiche, and stir fries are...
  24. First off before going gluten free we always suggest getting tested, the simple blood test can be ordered by any doctor, and there is a follow up endoscope in many cases. Going gluten free now could render the test a false negative if your antibodies go down. You have to be eating gluten for 12 weeks prior to the test, getting off now might cause reintroduction...
