It sounds like gluten is sneaking in somewhere... Either that or you have another intolerance that is causing an autoimmune reaction like casein sensitivity...
-
Welcome, welcome, welcome! I live just north of Lancaster, PA. If you ever come out this way, let me know and I'll tell you where the Celiac safe restaurants are.

ARCHIVED Found An Easy Way To Do Celiac Outreach
Guhlia replied to Nantzie's topic in Publications & Publicity
Thanks, Nancy. That website is totally addicting!!! -
I don't know if it's medication related or not, but gas is a perfectly normal occurence, even if it's loud and, well, smelly... Even if it lasts a few days.

ARCHIVED Can Gluten Really "live" In Plastic Dishes Even When Washed?
Guhlia replied to CantEvenEatRice's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Actually, either gfp, tarnalberry, or lovegrov (can't remember which) had a great way of showing how gluten can stay trapped in things. I don't remember what it was, but I think it involved either food coloring or something that glowed under blacklight. Scared the heck out of me. Now I'm super, super careful and everything that ever touched gluten is long... -
I would think Orlando, FL would be a pretty good place to live. They have all the normal Celiac standby's like Outback, Carraba's, P.F. Changs, plus they have Planet Hollywood (Celiac friendly) and all of the Disney stuff which is VERY Celiac friendly.

ARCHIVED My Next Step
Guhlia replied to Curious121's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Someone on here mentioned that their lotion had Vitamin E in it and that contained gluten. I don't remember who it was or what the product was. Gluten can be hidden under natural and/or artificial flavorings, malt, confectioner's glaze (that info may be out of date, I can't remember)... I'm sure there are other ingredients to avoid. Be sure you've removed... -
ARCHIVED What Do You Put In Rice To Make It Taste Good?
Guhlia replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I add butter, minced garlic, and pepper to my white rice sometimes. That's very good. You may also enjoy a chicken or turkey gravy, homemade of course, mixed in. Last I contacted them Goya said that NONE of their products should be considered gluten free. Has this changed? -
ARCHIVED What Do You Think Of My Entrolab Results?
Guhlia replied to buzz's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I absolutely ditto what Ursula said. She's 100% right. You need to be gluten and casein free for life. -
Brain fog is a horrible, horrible thing. I don't think that staying with your mother's friend in Mexico sounds like a bad idea AT ALL. Actually, it sounds like a great idea. Perhaps you could go for only a short time, like a week, so you don't lose your scholarship. Even a week or resting is better than none. Go rest and recooperate! Also, if you're working...

ARCHIVED Comfort Foods...
Guhlia replied to Compassion's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Here's a great comfort food recipe. It's adapted from a recipe posted on allrecipes.com called Potato Soup IV by Tonya Jacobs. INGREDIENTS * 2 tablespoons margarine * 1/4 thinly sliced baby carrots * 1/2 cup chopped onion * 7 cups peeled and diced potatoes * 1 Tbsp extra finely chopped garlic * 4 cups chicken broth (I used... -

ARCHIVED Out Of The Mouth Of Babes......
Guhlia replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
My daughter (2) informed me the other day that she is most definitely a girl and daddy is most definitely a boy. I asked her how she knew. She looked at me like I was retarded. "Mom. Don't you know? Daddy has a peanut. He's a BOY!" Oh geeze... -
ARCHIVED Eating Out W/ A Toddler?
Guhlia replied to emja73's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My two year old is a very picky eater. When we go out to eat (usually we only go to Outback Steakhouse) I order her a baked potato and call it "a big french fry" and a side of bacon strips. It's not the healthiest dinner, but at least she eats and is happy. My best advice is to feed him/her ahead of time and bring a coloring book or favorite toy for him/her... -
Patti, the cinnamon sugar stayed nice for me, but they didn't last very long in my house. I think they only made it 24 hours at the most before they were gobbled up. You have to put the sugar on after the fying oil is absorbed into the donut, but before the donut cools. Otherwise it just doesn't stick. We just made another batch this morning. Yum!

For a super sweet glaze I would use a mixture such as this. Add hot water gradually until glaze is at the right consistency. Should be relatively thin for a donut glaze I would think. Perhaps someone else will have a real recipe. 1/4 cup butter, melted 1 cup confectioners' sugar 1/2 teaspoon CLEAR vanilla extract 2-6 teaspoons hot water...

ARCHIVED School Age Kids..
Guhlia replied to elaine33's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter is relatively picky also, though she's been expanding her tastes a bit lately. Is Ryan just gluten free or is he casein free as well? Breakfast: eggs & bacon or ham, banana pictures (I cut bananas up and arrange them into pictures and decorate with cinnamon or colored sugar), pumpkin pancakes (I have a great recipe, just PM me if you want... -
ARCHIVED Epicure
Guhlia replied to TinkerbellSwt's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Where are you located? Better yet, where is Epicure located? -
Oooohhhh, the donuts... *drooling* This is actually a recipe that I believe someone else posted a while back. I printed it out, but forgot who originally posted it. They tasted EXACTLY like real donuts, especially once they sat for a day. They taste just like the cheap pre-packaged donuts (like Entenmanns). Perhaps it was you the posted the...

Technically, my daughter has not been diagnosed with Celiac, though we are working on getting an Enterolab diagnosis. She was beginning to show minor symptoms so we decided to keep her strictly gluten free until preschool (unless of course the Enterolab comes back positive, then she'll be gluten free for life), then we'll get her tested after the glutenous...

Mal, it gets better. I don't really have any other advice to offer you. The first few weeks after diagnosis are REALLY hard, especially if you're a picky eater. I think I resorted to eating cracker barrel cheese and corn chips for the first few weeks. The upside is, the longer I was gluten free, the better food tasted to me. Now I actually enjoy meat and...
