  1. I'm not sure which part of LA you'll be staying in (it's a big place ), but I like The Green Temple in Redondo Beach and The Spot in Hermosa Beach. Both specialize in organic vegetarian food and would probably be able to accomodate you. Also, like others have said, you won't have a problem finding large health food stores.
  2. Chebe and Cause Your Special make awesome, easy-to-make pizza crusts as well. I've noticed that celiac kids deal with these social situations really well, especially if they're diagnosed at a very young age. The adults have a much harder time coping for some reason. Hope the party goes well.

    ARCHIVED Dairy Free-

I'd completely eliminate all forms of dairy for a month, then slowly add small amounts back in and see if you react. If you do, you should probably avoid it religiously. Just my opinion. That's what I did with soy and it blatantly gave me my answer.
  4. Sorry . I've unfortunately never heard of a hospital accomodating a gluten-free diet. If you can, just tell them they are absolutely not allowed to feed her and bring all of her meals from home. Maybe you can give the hospital staff safe foods to give her for times when you're not there.
  5. In the dark blue bar that displays your thread title, there's a lighter blue box that says "options." You can change it back to standard from there (I think )
  6. I believe you, really I do , but I'd love to read your info. if you find it again. PM it to me if you ever get a chance, thanks
  7. I liked Phil last night . I never would have thought it possible
  8. If I understand correctly, I belive that a medium chain fatty acid does not easily store as fat in your body. I'm just as anti-dairy as you are (some other posters here can attest to that ), but I do think that raw organic dairy is probably less harmful than processed dairy. I stay away from both versions though, and can't claim to be an...
  9. Sorry to go on another tangent, but if a person goes to the grocery store and buys a carton of fat-free homogenized, pasteurized milk, the substance they are about to drink has very little resemblance to the stuff that actually came out of the cow. So...I guess I'm saying I agree with you about this. It might not be the actual food that's causing the...
  10. Go Raw bars, Alpsnack bars and some versions of Bumble are gluten, dairy and soy-free.
  11. That's hilarious . Next time I go to a restaurant, I'm so bringing that gorilla with me!
  12. I just did a really quick search for "McDonald's" and counted 34 threads that contain this exact same argument. I only searched the "Gluten-Free Restaurants" forum and stopped counting after browsing a few pages. Everyone's free to draw their own conclusions (about the fries, about McDonald's, about McDonald's impact on our society and about why this is...

    ARCHIVED Omg.....

I too have heard that rumor about Brazilian men and their tapioca bread... Don't they even make a frozen (and much more masculine) version of Chebe? I think if you get the frozen stuff all you have to do is open the package and heat it up. No stirring or mixing involved...
  14. Does Whole Foods send spies out to the regular grocery stores in order to steal the best employees? I have friends who work for them and they say it's the best company to work for. I bet you could make good money in the supplement department too. You know lots about that stuff by now. Hmmmm....maybe I should go work there. 30% off a WF bill is like saving...
  15. I don't think this is the answer, but it kind of explains the correlation between nutritional yeast and MSG, or at least a hypothesis about how the two might be related: Open Original Shared Link If you do some google searches about this (you probably have already ), you'll see we're not the only ones confused about the issue I'd really like...
  16. Yeah Mac and Chreese is good. The trick is to add about 3/4 cup liquid (as opposed to the 1/4 cup they tell you to add) and then plenty of Earth Balance or olive oil. Sea salt and italian herbs help too.
  17. I know kids who like soy milk and rice milk. Hemp milk is good too. It's much creamier than other milk substitutes.
  18. I bought a KIND bar once. It turned out to be wheat-free but not gluten-free. I gave it to my friend and she said it was awesome Maybe they have gluten-free versions now? I second the Go Raw recommendation. Best stuff ever....
  19. funniest thing ever:  Not that it's funny that you got worse of course...but something about that sentence is just so amusing! Forget about compiling all the useful information here (not that anyone was gonna do that anyway LOL) This funny stuff almost serves a much better purpose
  20. Have you tried Alpsnack bars? The do contain dried fruit, but are mostly hemp nuts. I don't know they would contain enough protein for you but they might... Open Original Shared Link
  21. A gluten-free/casein-free diet is much easier to follow if you stick to more natural/organic foods. (That's assuming you don't find an organic diet difficult ) You'll really find an abundance of food you can eat at health food stores, farmer's markets and the like. I like hemp milk, rice milk and almond milk. If you eat a variety of whole foods, including...
  22. Yeah and casein is another thing they sometimes use
  23. Has anyone heard from Julie??????? I've been wondering about her. I don't think she's been on the board in months...
  24. Good to know. Wine is just one of those things I don't want to have to worry about. It should just always be safe and allergen free haha. I'll have to look more closely at the vegan wine lists one of these days.
  25. I never worried about that until I recently had a very distinctive casein reaction from wine. I happened to be a country where allergen labeling is very good, and sure enough there was a "may contain traces of milk protein" warning on the label. I dunno, I'd never really noticed that kind of reaction to wine in the US, but I don't drink it enough to really...
