  1. Hi sorry I'm chiming in late you posted earlier in the month but I've been off the boards ironically learning how to adjust every recipe or create new ones due to managing my intolerances that developed after my gluten challenge in 2016. My body still finds things to react about as cycling lady said. I read up on Mast cells (again -I took immunology classes...
  2. I was considered IBS for over 2 decades. It was determined it is/was not. I have a list of diagnosis shingles, puppps etc that were likely missed DH. The list goes on and too much to list here. Stay on gluten since you are someone who has a Dr willing to test you for celiac. It is very hard to be gluten-free then do the challenge. I don't recommend it...
  3. There are many gi issues, food intolerances, and allergies out there. Some of us have a combo of them. Constipation can be a celiac symptom your mom symptoms may vary and the multi grain may have other ingredients that relieve her constipation symptoms or the contents versus threshold may vary for your mom. In my opinion a food elimination and reintroduction...
  4. Hi welcome. The above posters gave great advice. For me fatigue is an issue after cc or celiac testing. My thyroid (even if I'm concerned at 3 different intervals of concern in life) checks out fine. I suspect I am thyroid level sensitive and pick up subtle variations the DR test does not . Possibly subclinical. It's related to gluten. My opinion . I...
  5. Yes. Not getting new content to load. I'm thinking it's a sign I need to go eat. I don't like to eat this late , but I'm starting to feel the conflicting joyous signs of positive healing in progress, my appetite returns with vengeance. It was a long 2016. My joints still struggle because gluten pal corn is evil too. Well I'm going to grab a tangerine...
  6. As others said above all the above are factors. After 31/2 years gluten free I underwent a gluten challenge. Once gluten destroys me I am more susceptible to other havoc wreking. As they stated above no processed stuff including gluten-free items now as Ennis said. I removed many of the top 8 allergens and added in slowly one at a time to test....
  7. Hi Poodle, gluten-free in DC is helpful at this . I am in no man's land for Celiac and NCGS as well. gluten-free in DC helped me with my frustration with the ambiguity. Similar to you 20 years ago I was diagnosed IBS on symptoms only. In 2016 I was told the endoscopy did not indicate Celiac. ( I however went gluten-free for 3 1/2 years prior in frustration...
  8. Cbo, You sound even more hurt not hearing what you hoped from community. I can read you frustration in your post. They are trying to support you best they can. While many of us can relate to glutening, you are right we can't understand seroquil withdrawl, if we have never taken it. In general the community will reach out, support, and acknowledge you...
  9. Thanks Ennis for the help. The Dietician in the practice I was seeing for celiac testing had me remove it a few months ago for 4 weeks then reintroduce. I had problems then so I removed and thought I'll try again in 3-4 months. Now it's 4 months later and my symptoms are worse now. Symptoms occur in stages the itching, and SOB, are step one and as the clock...
  10. Hi everyone, Question and partial update. How many of you are corn intolerant as well? Is it permanent? Did you know before , concurrent, or after gluten reared its ugly head? I did not have corn intolerance (I believe) until the 2016 with my terrible restaurant gluten exposures and quest for celiac testings. It is definitive that corn is the culprit...
  11. Welcome as the above posters said I concur stop eating gluten even if you don't feel better right away. On some level you know it's bad, but admitted you're overwhelmed and depressed. As the posters above states gluten is a huge contributing factor and let's face it even those without Celiac can find the holidays a tough time of year. You got a double whammy...
  12. I would eat gluten and see at minimum if you could get the blood draw before leaving for school. Sometimes Dr can order a blood draw without bringing you into his/her office worth a shot if you explain situation. Perhaps they will be willing at minimum to order blood work and have you just go to lab it's worth asking about it. If it's a Dr you have had a...
  13. Yes I have had bad experiences even when a gluten-free menu is offered. I haven't been to your exact chain restaurant. If it's busy times or the waiter/waitress seems confused or not confident I strongly suggest going up to manager or cook to order. How knowledgeable are they, do they lead with right questions for a proper organized order process etc. We...
  14. Welcome, Stay on gluten until the testing as gluten-free in dc says. Trust me it's best to go that route especially since you and your mom are consulting Drs on it. Celiac they can identify most cases especially if eating regular gluten diet, NCGS is still not a clear cut test. Going off and going on gluten will really confuse the body. Also my opinion...
  15. I had to cut back hours in 2016 due to my cc in march and took time off for my gluten challenge. This summer I would work for 4 hours M-F and I would come home feed my kids lunch then be so fatigued from trying to work (with many kids(educator), active outside, summer heat to boot for four hours) I napped 2-3 hours daily for 6-9 months. I could not...
  16. Hi I'm still undiagnosed but my cousin is a diagnosed celiac with additional AI. My current Drs ruled out many of my former diagnosis I had 20 years earlier of IBS, asthma, etc. Lots of my prior diagnosis' are not found/confirmed now, but neither is gold standard celiac. There is quite a bit that shows gluten issues on symptomology and dramatic difference...
  17. Well for everyone that misses the bacon egg and cheese biscuit, I assure you it's not worth it. I ate it as one meal during the recent gluten challenge had to stop a few times during consumption as my knot in throat developed. I must say I had idealized it since I had not eaten it in 4 years. It was not pleasurable as I fantasized about and the joint pain...
  18. Hi I bloat in 35-45 minutes physically from consumption in the area of the upper small intestine. I have been told that an item was gluten-free chewed a few bites and tasted wheat flour too late clock starts ticking. I then know I'm in for it. Wheat is the worst. Barley I can sometimes detect palate wise and still bloat but not as pronounced. Rye in between...
  19. I too can't handle popcorn. You can have cornstarch . I can't . I get joint and muscle pain from corn and corn sourced anything /derivative added to food. As the others say not time yet. Frustrating I know. Your not alone.
  20. I can very much empathize. I have spent 2016 going through this myself. I did not get the celiac diagnosis nor a definitive ncgi. I was to finish a 2 week gluten challenge, I had to stop day 6, took 2 days off to settle things down, then ate a small amount one more day. I finished 7 of 14 they are lucky they got me to do that. I won't rant how much...
  21. Hi fbmb, I thought of you on holiday weekend . As you see the celiac.com community came out in force to help you at this trying time. You found the right place to help get you to the right place. I hope you had good few days of improved mood. Most of all trust your gut will lead you. I've visited Whal' s site in past and 2 other autoimmune MDs who embrace...
  22. I am still unable to eat most processed foods even gluten-free ones. Udis gluten-free bread is a treat. My body clearly lets me know if I eat hard to digest, processed foods, or highly inflammatory foods. I eat very clean during the week and due to work or getting kids to/from school etc. If I'm checking my tolerance or progress for a newly 2016 developed...
  23. I read a book by Judy Berger titled misdiagnosed: one woman's tour and escape from healthcare land. In the book she describes how her MRI showed white matter lesions indicative of MS. She goes on a journey through the book and reveals in the end it was gluten. Her's is an example of gluten and the damage it can do to the brain. It's autobiographical not a...
  24. My husband can not have cow sourced products. Many generations of men in his family have to give up cow sourced products in adulthood. He found as his father advised he can have sheep or goat based cheese. He does almond milk. My son does no dairy. My daughter can not have cow based 2 percent or whole milk since weaned as a baby. She gets terrible...
  25. As others said a general blanket thank you note will suffice now. You can broach the subject in the future. An excellent way to subliminally suggest Sees' s brand is the next few face to face meetings offer him/ her a See' s from the box sitting on your desk/ conference table. Mr. X would you like one they are my favorite this subliminally fix this one...
