ARCHIVED Why Don't People 'get It'?
prinsessa replied to floridanative's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
DH gets on my nerves when he is eating something with gluten and then asks me "do you want some?" I usually give him "the look" and then he says "I'm sorry...I forgot". You would think he would remember after I have been gluten free for 6 months now. I think it is harder for him to understand since my symtoms were never severe. He has more stomach problems... -
ARCHIVED Coca Cola From Mexico
prinsessa replied to LyndaK's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I hope the coke from Mexico is ok because it tastes sooooo much better. It tastes like how coke used to taste....especially from a glass bottle....yum! -
ARCHIVED Why Do People Think I Am Crazy?
prinsessa replied to aprilh's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had some funny comments when I first went gluten free, but after 6 months on the gluten-free diet the comments have pretty much stopped (at least in front of my face ). I told my husband one day "why do you care if I am gluten free? I'm not telling you to give up gluten." As for the anxiety, I had it much worse before going gluten free. It would keep... -
I must be the only person who doesn't like bananas. The only way I like them is almost green, in banana bread or in a milkshake. I just don't like the consistancy. My kids love them though. My daughter loved them so much that she got really constipated as a toddler from eating too many. My kids now have a two banana a day limit

ARCHIVED Warning: The Gluten-free Bible
prinsessa replied to celiac3270's topic in Publications & Publicity
About being rude to a server in a restuarant. I was a waitress about 4 years ago. One man was being rude to one of the waitresses. She got sick of it and told him "you should never be rude to a waitress before getting your food". I thought it was really funny and it shut him up really quick. I agree that being rude to a waitress is not good. Some people... -
I had GMA on that morning and my husband said that she mentioned something about gluten free food. I was out of the room at the moment. I ran back in, but didn't hear anything else about gluten free foods. So if you were dreaming my husband must have been having the same dream

ARCHIVED Cinnamon Puffins Not Gluten Free
prinsessa replied to prinsessa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Oppps....I thought the old package said gluten free. And I thought someone else on this site recommended them. The brain fog must be really bad -
ARCHIVED For Those Who Are gluten-free But Tested Negative....
prinsessa replied to jayhawkmom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Some people think I am nutty and that it is all "in my head" (my BIL told me this), but I don't really care. I feel much better and that is what counts. It can be hard to go against the grain (no pun intended), but you need to do what is best for you and your family. I really don't know why people care what other people eat since it isn't affecting them... -
ARCHIVED Cinnamon Puffins Not Gluten Free
prinsessa posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I went to the grocery store yesterday and decided to pick up some cereal. Cinnamon Puffins are the ones I usually get at the regular grocery store because they are usually the only gluten free cereal. I picked up a box yesterday and saw that it said "wheat free" on the front. I remember last time it said "gluten free", so I decided to look at the ingredients... -
ARCHIVED Splenda
prinsessa replied to lemonade's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am one of those anti-artificial sweetener people. And I don't see how Splenda tastes like real sugar. My mom bought some drinks (by mistake) with splenda in them and they tasted really bad. I am also against high fructose corn syrup. I think it is one of the causes for the diabetes and obesity problem in our country. I rather eat (and have my kids... -
ARCHIVED Is Anyone Else Having Problems With Tasting Cans Or Dyes ?
prinsessa replied to marciab's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The quiz says I am a normal taster, but I think I am a super smeller. I can tell when my son pooped even if he is in the next room. My husband can't tell even if he is sitting next to him. I can also smell the garbage way before anyone else can. I keep tell my husband "this house smells" and he tells me "I don't smell anything". I think women are... -
ARCHIVED Enzymes Help Celiacs Digest Small Amounts Of Gluten
prinsessa posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I read in a magazine that people who have Celiac disease or gluten intolerance can digest small amounts of gluten if they take digestive enzymes. I don't know what I did with the magazine though (I think my husband threw it away). It was one of those magazine you get for free at the health food stores. I think the amounts of gluten where extremely small... -
ARCHIVED Diagnosis, Diet, Symptoms Etc
prinsessa replied to AndreaB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had a negative blood test, but the doctor told me after he did them that he forgot to test for something. I didn't want to redo the blood tests because I started going gluten free right after I had them. I didn't want to do a biopsy because I already has a positive result from the gluten free diet. I had pretty much all the symptoms listed except constipation... -
ARCHIVED Bed Wetting
prinsessa replied to skipper30's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I dont' know about bed wetting, but when I eat something with gluten I have to pee almost every hour. I don't know why. It might be my body trying to rid itself of toxins. I could see kids having the same problem. I had to get up sometimes in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. -
ARCHIVED Genetics
prinsessa replied to watchthestars's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I read somewhere that children of Celiacs have a 10% chance of developing the disease. I don't think anyone really knows how commen gluten intolerance really is. Some people think 1% of the population has it. I don't know how we would know for sure since none of the tests are 100%. I wouldn't have known that I was gluten intolerant if I didn't do my own... -
ARCHIVED Unexpected Positive Effects Of New gluten-free Eating Habits?
prinsessa replied to munchkinette's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I don't crave gluteny stuff anymore (except pizza and beer....I would kill for a big slice of pizza and a cold beer...the gluten free stuff isn't exactly the same) The dark circles under my eyes have started to fade (not completely yet) I eat less junk food no more dandruff -
ARCHIVED 11 Cavities In A 3 Year Old?
prinsessa replied to floridanative's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I had tons of cavites my whole life (starting at a young age) and I never ate much candy and brushed my teeth all the time. I never had symptoms of gluten intolerance before a year or so ago so I don't know if that has anything to do with it (I think it does though). Hopefully your sister will get him tested. Good luck! -
ARCHIVED For Those With Gluten Tolerant & Intolerant Family Members
prinsessa replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My house is not gluten-free, but I am the only one so far who is on a gluten free diet. I'm not sure if the kids have gluten intolerance, but if their tests come back positive I told my husband that the house will have to go gluten free or he can hide his gluten stuff from the kids. I think it will be too tempting to see their dad eating snacks with gluten... -
I would probably eat the gluten if I was really, really hungry. I don't get many bad symptoms besides bloating and gas unless I eat gluten for a couple of days in a row (I did that about a month ago and had gas pains so bad I though I was going to die). I can handle small amounts of gluten as long as I don't eat any more for a long time. I still avoid...

I just wanted to respond to your post about the blood test being normal. My mom thinks I have hypothyroidism (constantly tired, cold, dry skin, etc.). She gave me some info on hypothyroidism. It said that the blood tests are not 100% accurate (I guess like with gluten intolerance). There is a test you can do yourself where you take your temperature every...

ARCHIVED Dear Pizza Hut.....i Hate You........
prinsessa replied to angel-jd1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The one thing I have been craving more than cakes or cookies is pizza! I made a tombstone pizza for the kids a week or so ago and had to stop myself several times from eating it. I even picked a piece up and started to bring it to my mouth. I was so proud of myself because I put it back down. And we walked past this pizza restuarant that we used to go... -
ARCHIVED Can You Be A Celiac With No Family History?
prinsessa replied to emcmaster's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
No one in my family has ever been diagnosed as having Celiac or gluten intolerance, but quite a few people have had "stomach problems" their whole lives. My mom gets bloated after eating too much bread and has occational "IBS symptoms". And she said her mom had stomach problems her whole life. So I'm sure people in my family had it, they just never knew... -
ARCHIVED Do All Celiac Stools Float?
prinsessa replied to Chako's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ok this is kind of gross but since we are talking about stools....mine usually didn't float, but they did sink and stick to the bottom of the toilet. It was really gross because I had to constantly clean the toilet. After going gluten-free, they are normal most of the time. btw, I have never been diagnosed Celiac, but I do know that I am gluten intolerant... -
ARCHIVED Whole Foods
prinsessa replied to hez's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Why do cereal companies do this? You would think that they would know less people are going to buy the cereal now. It doesn't make sense to me. -
My acne also gets worse if I eat something with gluten. I think that it is almost worse than the stomach problems because everyone can see the acne
