  1. Flu vaccines -- and all vaccines -- are gluten-free. No question. Don't know about the paun relief for birth, but if it's injected, it's gluten-free. richard
  2. Believe me, Paula, no one's upset with you. richard
  3. You could still be getting gluten, but two weeks is not enough time. I missed 10 weeks of work and it was 10 months before I felt normal again. richard
  4. There's no gluten in injectables. richard
  5. Easy answer. Yes. richard
  6. "<<<All of our ingredients are listed on the packaging. We recommend to always read our labels.>>> I just contacted SaraLee/JimmyDean and received their standard non-answer. Why do we settle for this garbage?? In Europe food products are very clearly marked 'Celiac Safe' so there is no guesswork for those of us who must be careful simply...
  7. Jimmy Dean is OK. Sausage in general is pretty much OK. If the label doesn't list gluten, you're OK. richard
  8. These popcorns should be OK. No guarantees, but never found a popcorn that's not gluten-free. richard
  9. I know others have already said it, but, yes, you do have celiac. I had DH for more than 20 years without realizing this and then ended up in the hospital for 11 days and off work for 10 weeks. You don't want to end up this way. My dad also had DH and when we got all first-degree relatives tested (please do this with your family) my dad was positive on all...
  10. You really don't have to worry. As long as the ingredients don't list gluten, you're OK. richard
  11. Assuming you are in the U.S. you don't have to worry. Any turkey, including self-basting ones, MUST by USDA law list any grain. All you have to do is read the ingredients. I have yet to find a turkey that has gluten, unless it's stuffed.
  12. In the U.S., all worcestershire sauce is gluten-free. In Canada, it has wheat. richard
  13. In the U.S. any soy sauce that doesn't list wheat is going to be gluten-free. richard
  14. Any grain can be malted and I've found a couple of mainstream things over the years that used something other than barley, but for our purposes you HAVE to assume the malt is barley unless the company tells you otherwise. richard
  15. If you do the liver and onions recipe, make sure you carmelize the onions. This makes them sweet and will help cover the tatse of the liver. I agree that beef or calf's liver is not as strong tasting as chicken liver. I LOVE liver but rarely eat it because of the high cholesterol level. I did eat more if it after I was diagnosed because my hemoglobin ...
  16. If gluten is your only concern you need not worry. I get a flu shot annually. richard
  17. Any soy sauce or tamari that's wheat-free is gluten-free. You don't need to worry. richard
  18. Just like gut celiac, DH is different for everybody. I had DH for more than 20 years with no obvious celiac symptoms, other than the fact that my gas could clear a room. No diarrhea, though, and nobody told me about the DH/celiac link (although my dermatologist did try hard to ge me to quit eating wheat). I had DH blisters on my fingers occasionally, although...
  19. Sounds more like psoriasis. richard
  20. Leaning over steam while washing dishes that used to have gluten on them is not going to cause DH or a gluten reaction. I can't imagine there's even any gluten in the steam. My bet is it's something other than DH. richard
  21. Just rambling here. I know of no place that demands 00.00 to be gluten-free, and testing for that would be impossible anyway. I know you can test down to at least 3 parts per million and maybe a little less but it will NEVER be zero. And the reality is that we have NO standard right now. I can't imagine we'll get better than 20, and most experts agree that...
  22. "I do eat a little bit of wheat bread,donuts,pizza,occasionally..." So if I understand you, you're eating stuff we aren't supposed to eat? richard
  23. There are a number of folks with celiac who smoke and have no celiac reaction. Just because an ingredient is allowed to be in cigarettes doesn't mean it's there. Still, I don't think I could continue in a job that causes me to throw up every day. Throwing up all the time is bad for your health and eventually can decay your teeth and erode your esophagus...
  24. While I can't guarantee that every single flavored coffee in the world (not the ones with stuff added when they're brewed) is gluten-free, I haven't found one that isn't gluten-free. Artificial flavors are not a real threat to people with celiac. richard
