  2. Distilled alcohol is gluten-free. If it says gluten-free but has alcohol, it is gluten-free. richard
  3. For us U.S. folks Nikky, is 5'4" and weighs 117 pounds, at least according to the conversion tables I used. I see nothing wrong with that weight. My daughter was 5'7" and 107 pounds when she was running and she ate like crazy. richard
  4. All are gluten-free. richard
  5. I agree with reading every label. However. Twizzlers have always had wheat. Same with most licorice. No surprise. I've never found corn tortillas dusted with flour, although you always need to check about any oil they're fried in. Sour cream with wheat? What brand? richard
  6. People with celiac disease should just forget Taco Bell. They do tell you exactly what's in stuff, but we can eat almost none of it. richard
  7. Pre-diet -- Hospital for 11 days, missed 10 weeks work. SEVERELY anemic. Liver enzymes off. Unable to walk by myself or think. Losing weight rapidly. Bad DH. Mouth blisters. Daily headaches. Flatulence that could clear whole rooms (but little diarrhea). Post-diet -- All gone, though it took almost 10 months to fully recover my energy. richard
  8. No coating necessary. Just cook them and put the Franks on. They're called naked wings and that's the way a number of places do them, including Buffalo Wild Wings. richard
  9. Odds are quite high it will remain gluten-free (Nathan's is the only hot dog I know of that isn't gluten-free). All you have to do to find out is read the ingredients. richard
  10. I can't imagine that either the microwave or the creamer is your problem. richard
  11. It's gluten-free. They're just doing some minor CYA. Cheerwine was my daughter's absolute favorite when we couldn't even get it in Virginia. She'd load up when we were in N.C. richard
  12. Love it. Lion cubs in Norway. Open Original Shared Link richard
  13. The USDA has for a number of years required that anything added to meat that has nutritional value MUST be listed in the ingredients. Grains fall into this category. Because of this, all you need do is read the ingredients in meat. If it says flavors or broth but does not list wheat, rye or barley, it's gluten-free. No need to call the manufacturer. richard
  14. Last time I checked both were fine. If they don't list wheat or malt, they should be OK. richard
  15. "As far as the sausage goes, it is a mix of meat, fat and spices. Were the spices gluten free? The company that makes the sausage has no regulartory need to check or advise us of the gluten statis of the spices." I've yet to find a spice that has barley, oats or rye in it, and if it has wheat, in the U.S. it MUST now by law be listed. This has been the...
  16. Any raw meat in the U.S. is by law required to list gluten if it's present. This is separate from the allergen law that just requires wheat. All you have to do is read the ingredients. If no gluten is listed, it's gluten-free. richard
  17. What did the host add to the ribs that had gluten? richard
  18. "...burgers usually have flour mixed through the meat, as do sausages." Unless you're eating with somebody who purposely adds breading or "flour," burgers and sausages in fact almost NEVER have gluten. I've only very rarely found sausage with gluten and virtually every restaurant avoids adding filler to burger patties. richard
  19. I personally have never found a red wine or balsamic vinegar with gluten. richard
  20. Sorry you didn't get an answer before Mother's Day, but the meat is OK. If a solution like that in meat contains any grain, the USDA requires that the grain be clearly listed. This applies to all raw meats. richard

    ARCHIVED Refractory Sprue

Refractory sprue is exceedingly rare to begin with. I'm not a medical person, but if you had a normal biopsy and haven't changed your diet, I'd say refractory is not your problem. richard
  22. Obviously I can't say that every cocktail sauce is gluten-free, but I haven't found one that isn't. McCormick, Blackwell and Cross (??), Kraft, Private Selection, Kroger, and so on. richard
  23. I've never heard of these milk cartons being a problem. The glue most certainly should not be leaching into the milk. The stamp and envelope glue thing is overhyped. Sometime a few years ago several people contacted the only U.S. company that makes that type of glue and it contains no gluten. Can't say about any foreign stuff. richard
  24. My signs were DH (although I didn't know the connection) and then anemia. richard
  25. Nitrates do NOT contain gluten. richard
