. I can adjust to cold better - you can always put on more clothes.

I said that for years, until that was just a crock.  (for me)

Well, 30 Celcius is warm, but not  oppressive. (to me)

If it's "too hot" down here,  you go inside....that's why they Invented central air.

Honestly, by the ocean, there is a breeze and I have been here in August and never felt like it was that horrid.

Maybe our bodies are all different? I tolerate extreme cold for a while and then,  can tolerate extreme hot the same way....I'd prefer moderate, of course.

Next time you come here, please call me :)

Yes, I think you are right. We're all different and used to different things... 30C is warm but not oppressive?  LOL When it hits 30C up here, which is usually does for a week each summer, I am melting. It's not warm enough for air conditioning up here unless you are in the richer area. The bedrooms on the upper floor get sooo hot but I can't justify AC when we only need it 10 days a year... Darn it.  B)

After I wrote how 10C is shorts weather I stopped to think about how my teeth will chatter when I first sit in a car on a cold day - you know when it's cold enough that the heater can't actually make it warm in the car until you get moving?  I'm not as tough as I like to think I am.  LOL

IrishHeart Veteran

I'm not as tough as I like to think I am.  LOL

well, I think you're a pretty tough cookie, hon! ;)  (in a good way!!)

And for all my tough girl talk, let's see how I feel about "extreme hot" this July. Maybe it's different when you are just "visiting" as opposed to

living it for months and months.

I'll probably have to start a "Hot sweltering summer" thread and whine there..... then you can say "told ya, Irish".

It is 1 degree farenheit / -17 c and the schools stayed open!  Rabbits are in the tub as the temp is dropping to -6 F.

Today I would move in a heartbeat!  Everyone here has the winter blahs.  Seriously we are all vitamin D deficient.

10" on the ground already, still coming down hard, 19* and I'm starting to get the chills down to my bones. Something tells me I am going to be sick real soon.

bartfull Rising Star

It's been really warm here (50's) for the past couple of weeks, but tomorrow night it's supposed to go down to 6 below with a 20 below wind chill. But by Friday it'll be back in the 50's. :)

Shadow usually get's nearly the same weather we do. I haven't seen her here in a while. Hey Shadow, are you OK?

It's been warm here too, in the 40s most days. It's going to be chilly for a few days but will be warm again on Friday.

-8 F reading here.

oh thank goodness, I just asked Karen if she had "seen you" on any of the threads. I figured you were on break, but when I do not see you for a while, I do start to worry a little bit.... What can I say, you're our "kid". lol

OK

It is cold here today and I know you are all happy about it so :P The neighbors cover their veggie  gardens at nighttime.

I am still wearing sandals and stubbornly refuse to give in. I did put one of J's shirts on over my gym clothes and if you can imagine a 5'4" woman wearing a 6'4" guy's flannel shirt, the sleeves rolled up 5 times over, the shirt looking much like a dress, then you've got a visual

on my very chic attire this morning. B) a walking giant plaid glamour don't! eh, who cares...still had on my shorts. he he he

Friends back  in NY report 6 degrees and a few inches of new snow. I'll keep my "flannel dress" and stick it out for a few days of "cold" snap....because by tomorrow it will back in the 70's.

Who's the wise guy that  sent the polar vortex down here?

It was 40 at 6:00 am. That's just wrong. I had to drape my sleeping cat over me like a blankie to stay warm.

I know I should be thankful, but I am sick of summer and long for some rain. It is so dusty and dirty! I bought some new winter clothes during the holidays and I can not even wear the sweaters. Flip flops and capris are my daily attire with a hoodie tossed on when evening comes or I shop.

That said, my heart goes out to those I snowy areas. I have not had to live through a cold winter since I was a toddler (and have no memories of it!)

Have great day and I will keep on dusting and sweeping.

I don't like heat either. I love it when it rains though.

Woohoo! Alberta was warmer than Florida. Nah-na-na-na-nah! :P It was 10C here most of the day - that's about 50F, right? It's supposed to snow in a day but I'll enjoy this while I can.

My MIL called to say their snowdrops and crocuses are up and blooming out on Vancouver Island... the ground here is still so frozen that when I dropped my metal water bottle in the yard, it was dented.  LOL Crocuses are for April or May out here.

Oh hush up, you little wiseacre!  Tomorrow, it should be back up in the 70's. Thank goodness. I did not move here to have temps

less than Alberta! lol I do laugh at the people dressed in layers as if it's Vermont..

ohmygosh, I thought Vancouver Island was one of the most delightful places I have ever visited (this was years ago and I keep saying "we should go back there!" to the hubs but we're getting older and we have to visit other new places first. lol).

And I am giggling at the dented water bottle, having dented my butt a few times on frozen ground in NY. I was not very good at negotiating

icy sidewalks....lol

51 for a high today. Lows in the mid-30's. But by tomorrow night it's supposed to drop to 2 below.

What a rollercoaster this winter has been!

Seriously. It's like Mother Nature is bipolar or something this year. I can't leave the house at any given moment without checking the weather because not only between days, but in the same day I have no idea if I will go from needing a coat to not or vice versa. Mother Nature needs to get back on her meds.

IrishHeart Veteran

Gonna be in the 80's today. Good thing, I was getting ready to move to Alberta.

We were -13ºF was -26º below wind chill this morning ughhhh !! Tomorrow is going to be cold also, but then come Thrusday we are going to be above 20 whoo hoo!! Cannot wait! Because it looks like after that we will be warming slowly! I know it is Feb. and we are still getting snow and cold till end of March. but hopefully we are done with this bitter cold.

bartfull Rising Star

They said on the radio yesterday that the rollercoaster here is over, and to expect a normal February. OK, so that means it's going to be stinking cold for the next month! So far the forecast shows it. Cold (a little below zero last night), near 50 tomorrow, then 30's for the forseeable future. We probably have at least one more good-sized snowstorm ahead before it's over too.

This is the most perfect description of the weather this wintah!  I love it....bipolar!

It is 18 degrees F here in Boston today but I like it because the sun is out and shining brightly.  I can handle anything if the sun is out.  We have had our fill of grey, gloomy days so far.  I can handle grey and gloomy if it rains but not when there is dirty snow everywhere and I can't get my cah washed because it's too cold for the cah wash to run. Nothing worse than a cah covered in sand and salt......yuck!  And if Irishheart pipes up and tells me how clean her cah is in the 80 degree heat, I'll send the polar vortex down to get her!

I'm not sure she's going to be quite as amused, and maybe it's because I'm still a little loopy this evening, but that's pretty funny. I'd hide though, she may make good on that threat. It was almost warm enough today to sit out by a roaring fire to enjoy our pizza instead of staying inside, but my husband wasn't quite as adventurous as me. Oh well, maybe next time.

I agree with @trents that the IgA you listed sounds like a total IgA, not celiac-specific, if 114 is normal.  Were any other antibody tests run?
    • Russ H
What you describe is seronegative villous atrophy (negative antibody tests but positive biopsy). It is uncommon in coeliac disease, and there are other causes, but the most common cause is coeliac disease. I would pursue this with your healthcare provider if possible. Based on clinical history, test results and possible genetic testing for susceptibility to coeliac disease it should be possible to give a diagnosis. There is a bit more here: Seronegative coeliac disease

If you are still eating gluten you could get a celiac disease blood panel done, but I agree with @trents and the gold standard for diagnosing celiac disease would be your endoscopy results. Is it possible they did do a celiac disease panel before your biopsy? This would be the normal chain of events. This article might be helpful. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always needs to be done is the IgA Levels/Deficiency Test (often called "Total IGA") because some people are naturally IGA deficient, and if this is the case, then certain blood tests for celiac disease might be false-negative, and other types of tests need to be done to make an accurate diagnosis. The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate.

Actually, it would be more correct to say that the genetic potential to develop celiac disease is passed down from parents to children. About 40% of the general population has the genetic potential to develop celiac disease but only about 1% of the general population actually do. But it is also true that the offspring of those who do have active celiac disease are at a considerably higher risk of developing active celiac disease than those of parents who have the genes but don't develop the disease. Some recent, larger studies put the risk at near 50% for the first degree relatives of those who have active celiac disease.

Hello everyone! Been a while since I posted. The past few moths have been the best by for recovery for myself. I have been the least bloated I have ever been, my constant throat clearing is almost gone, I have stopped almost all medication I was prevously taking (was taking vyvanse for adhd, pristiq for anxiety,fomotadine/blexten for histamine blockers and singulair). Only thing I take now is Tecta. I also no longer get any rashes after eating. Things are going very well. Most success came actually once I upped my B12 daily dose to 5,000 mcg. I do have one thing I am un able to figure out and want to see if anyone else has this issue or has experience working around it. Ever since I was born I have always had a issue getting fruits and veggies down. No matter how hard I tried, it would always result in gagging or throwing up. Always just thought I was a picky eater. Now that my stomach and system has healed enough that I can feel when something is off almost istantly, I notice that after eating most fruits (sometimes I am ok with bananas) and veggies, my stomach instantly starts burning and my heart starts to pound and I get really anxious as if my body doesnt know what to do with what just enetered it. So I am thinking now that this is what probably was going on when I was born and my body started rejecting it before which caused this weird sensory issue with it causing the gagging. Hoping someone has some exprience with this as well because I would love to be able to enjoy a nice fruit smoothie once in a while haha. Thanks everyone!
