  • I was recently diagnosed with Celiac disease and I need to know if any of these ingredients may contain gluten. The packaging does not indicate that this is a gluten free product but this is the Target brand and the details in the packaging seem minimal. Here are the ingredients.

Protein Blend (Ultrafiltered Whey Protein Concentrate [Which Contains Beta-Lactoglobulin, Alpha-Lactalbumin, and Glycomacropeptides], Microfiltered Whey Protein Isolate), Maltodextrin, Cocoa (Processed with Alkali), Natural and Artificial Flavors, Cellulose Gum, Salt, Soy Lecithin, Xanthan Gum, Dicalcium Phosphate, Calcium Carbonate, Acesulfame Potassium, Sucralose.

It also "Contains milk and soy ingredients."

  • Please let me know if this is a safe food or not. I have already tried gluten free Protein but I ran out and this is all I have.

Hi Autumn and Welcome.

There are no gluten ingredients in what your posted.

I don't see any gluten. Sounds like some protein powder we have. I don't like it but have had some and was fine.

This is excellent news as I can't afford any more this week with the cost of gluten free foods! Are you absolutely sure this will not delay my healing or infect me with more gluten ingredients

Now what about the Maltodextrin... This seems like the 'malt' could contain wheat.

kareng Grand Master

"Malt" or " malted" means barley. Maltodextrin has nothing to do with barley or wheat in the US.

I put a few things back on the shelf today because they had Maltodextrin because I wasn't sure if that was a malt flavoring or something...good to know it's ok!!

I had some, and immediately, indigestion. Had to go to the bathroom. But then felt ok. I haven't had any gluten in 2 weeks. Are you absolutely SURE that this product does not contain gluten (I am in the U.S...)

GF Lover Rising Star

Maltodextrin is not made from gluten in the US..  The ingredients Autumn listed do not contain gluten.

Maltodextrin can be enzymatically derived from any starch. In the US, this starch is usually Open Original Shared Link; in Europe, it is commonlyOpen Original Shared Link. Wheat-derived maltodextrin may cause concern for individuals suffering from Open Original Shared Link intolerance. If wheat is used to make maltodextrin, it will appear on the label.

If it bothers you, don't eat it - even if its gluten-free.

There are no gluten ingredients listed, but if you want to be absolutely sure the product is manufactured in a place free from cross contamination, you will need to contact the manufacturer.

As Karen said, if anything bothers you, don't eat it.  It doesn't mean there is gluten in it, just some people cannot tolerate certain things, especially with a healing gut.

If you are having a problem with dairy, the isolate is usually ok. Sucralose personally bothers me if I have too much. If it bothers you then it's not because it's dstroying your insides with gluten. Which is always good to know. I have there is absolutely no such thing as "normal", everyone reacts differently to things.

This product contains both dairy and soy. Some of us can have problems with one or both of these until we have healed. If the product bothers your system whether it is gluten free or not it is a good idea to drop it for a bit.  Do make sure you tolerate whatever you mixed it with or put it on also. In the beginning it can be helpful to keep a food and symptom log. It can help pinpoint items you don't tolerate. Do keep in mind that some reactions can be delayed so what you are looking for is a pattern.

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.

Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you

Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.

Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-Free.

Hi all  I was diagnosed Coeliac a few years ago and follow a gluten free diet. The list of foods that I can eat without a problem grows shorter on a weekly basis. [I also have diabetes and asthma also].  BUT the reason I am posting this is because I seem to struggle with nausea quite a lot, which is really quite debilitating, and I was wondering if others suffer from nausea, even if following a gluten free diet.
