Chelse, I am so excited for you!!!!! Congratulations on making it through to the biopsy, and best of luck getting started with your new gluten-free life :):)

Hi Robbin :)

Good luck Morgan with no sugar today! I like your new picture :)

I never really ate a whole lot of donuts in my lifetime, but after becoming gluten-free I wanted them so bad

You know what are so good? Imo at least, the Enjoy Life Foods cinnamon bagels, not really donut like but a distant runner up. Unfortunately there is amaranth flour in them and I am avoiding all gliadin grains as well :(

SusanW- that's cute your daughter took the picture, she did a good job!

She takes a lot of pictures. She is our little photographer. When we went to Disney World she was always snapping away. Ha!

I've never been to Rachelville before - is fun reading all the posts...

I had a thought after I read a post about the pillsbury dough boy....

He looks bloated and anemic - I think he need to cut down on the gluten dough and see a GI :P:lol:

Hi all.

I did read everything so this isn't really a drive-by....

BTW I always love everyone's new pictures even when I don't single them out. Susan, your daughter did a good job.

Morgan,

Hang in there....it will be worth it. I need to curtail my sugar eating again too (enjoy life chocolate chips)

Robbin,

Always good to see you! I hope you are feeling better now.

Julie,

I tested low allergic for gliadin foods and have also cut them out....except for the millet flour for the bread....but I don't have that much. Usually if we have french toast.

Welcome 2kids4me!

Come back and visit us. If you want a job, application is on page 1 of this thread and we'd need to know your interests/hobbies/real life skills (whatever you want to share) for placement. Name if you want to share it too.

Just doing a drive by also.. playing catch up today with all the insurance agencies that want to put us in collection b/c the insurance companies are wacko. It costs way too much to have a sick member of your family. The costs are unreal.

penguin.. glad you survived the gluten challenge. I dont think I could ever do it.

Take care all.. will catch up maybe later tonite!

Oh, cool I'd love to live in Rachelville - it sounds like a place I can call "my happy place"...

Here is the application for a job in R-ville.

Are you gluten free? Yup, and finally remembered to cook the gluten-free pizza crust BEFORE i put toppings on

Do you promise to never infiltrate Rachelville with gluteney foods? no gluten shall hitchhike into Rachelville with me

Do you promise to never bring gigantic Auxigro ridden produce into R-Ville? absolutely

Special skills, I am a mom first and Animal Health Technologist by night - DH is a vet and abuses me after hours by calling me to help him with cats, and dogs, and cows and other furry creatures with four legs. My specialty there, is getting sick cats to eat ( an art form, if you know cats..)... moving quickly when those furry creatures need emerg care...and helping people whose furry family members are very sick..

I like to walk my dog in grassy fields - and let her loose to chase grasshoppers.

This doggy of mine is a "rescue" and needed lots of understanding and help learning that we were never going to leave her and no one would hurt her... and now she is the best dog you could ask for...just never say walk, leash, car ride, or bike ride within earshot of the dog without meaning it ...

Is there an opening at the vet clinic? :)

and my name is Sandy B)

Hi Sandy...welcome to Rachelville. :D

You get to do whatever you enjoy most here (except eat gluten)...sooo if you want a job at the Vet...its yours. I think we have a vet already but I'm sure we could use more....I think most of us have pets and we do wanna keep them healthy and happy. :)

Maybe Andrea could post the list...I have forgotten who our vet is. :(

Is it Tavi??

Chelse...AWESOME!!

I still cant believe you made it through...I could never have done it! YAY for gluten-free food!! I have a feeling you wont be missing the other stuff anytime soon. ;)

Sandy: Veteranarian technician; Animal caretaker

Wow, sounds like you have a great job! I always wanted to work with animals but didn't like science and am not fond of the idea of putting an animal down (I'd cry for everyone's beloved pets). Don't know how I'd do with surgery type stuff. Love animals though.

Jeny is the other veterinarian. Haven't seen her much lately.......need to track down. :)

Rachelville is deserted, this is what Susie Q was talking about before, so scary.........as she would say, hold me

Welcome Sandy :)

Hope everything gets worked out Stephanie!

Andrea- Jenyj did disappear, if we could round up the dingos we could send them out on a search

morganb Newbie

Julie, you're right this place has been deserted. I guess it turned out for the best today though... I was able to get most of my packing done, my old dresser emptied and all the clothes washed :) Now that's quite an accomplishment and I never would have been able to do that if this place was busy

I'll be in there in a minute to taunt you ... I'll stick my fingers in the meringue, then say how yummy it is, then I'll eat a few more chocolate chips in front of you -- hee, hee.

Hi and thank you very much for your detailed response! I am so glad that the protocol worked so well for you and helped you to get your health back on track. I've heard of it helping other people too. One question I have is how did you maintain your weight on this diet? I really rely on nuts and rice to keep me at a steady weight because I tend to lose weight quickly and am having a hard time envisioning how to make it work, especially when not being able to eat things like nuts and avocados. In case you have any input, woud be great to hear it! Friendly greetings.

I was not taking any medications previous to this. I was a healthy 49 yo with some mild stomach discomfort. I noticed the onset of tinnitus earlier this year and I had Covid at the end of June. My first ‘flare-up’ with these symptoms was in August and I was eating gluten like normal. I had another flare-up in September and then got an upper endo at the end of September that showed possible celiac. My blood test came a week later. While I didn’t stop eating gluten before I had the blood test, I had cut back on food and gluten both. I had a flare-up with this symptoms after one week of gluten free but wasn’t being crazy careful. Then I had another flare-up this week. I think it might have been caused by Trader Joe’s baked tofu which I didn’t realize had wheat. But I don’t know if these flare-ups are caused by gluten or if there’s something else going on. I am food journaling and tracking all symptoms. I have lost 7 pounds in the last 10 days.

Welcome to the forum, @Hmart! There are other medical conditions besides celiac disease that can cause villous atrophy as well as some medications and for some people, the dairy protein casein. So, your question is a valid one. Especially in view of the fact that your antibody testing was negative, though there are also some seronegative celiacs. So, do you get reactions every time you consume gluten? If you were to purposely consume a slice of bread would you be certain to develop the symptoms you describe?

I only went on the multi vitamin AFTER a couple of year of high dose, targeted supplementation resolved most of my deficiencies.  I was on quite a cocktail of vitamins that was changed every 6 months as my deficiencies resolved.  Those that were determined to be genetic are still addressed with specific doses of those vitamins, minerals and amino acids. I have an update on my husband and his A Fib.  He ended up in the hospital in August 2025 when his A Fib would not convert.  He took the maximum dose of Flecainide allowed within a 24 hour period.  It was a nightmare experience!  They took him into the ER immediately.  They put in a line, drew blood, did an EKG and chest Xray all within minutes.  Never saw another human for 6 hours.  Never got any results, but obviously we could see he was still in A fib by watching the monitor.  They have the family sign up for text alerts at the ER desk.  So glad I did.  That is the only way we found out that he was being admitted.  About an hour after that text someone came to take him to his room on an observation floor.  We were there two hours before we saw another human being and believe it or not that was by zoom on the TV in the room.  It was admissions wanting to know his vaccine status and confirming his insurance, which we provided at the ER desk.  They said someone would be in and finally a nurse arrived.  He was told a hospitalist was in charge of his case.  Finally the NP for the hospitalist showed up and my husband literally blew his stack.  He got so angry and yelled at this poor woman, but it was exactly what he needed to convert himself to sinus rhythm while she was there.  They got an EKG machine and confirmed it.  She told him that they wanted to keep him overnight and would do an echo in the morning and they were concerned about a wound on his leg and wanted to do a doppler to make sure he did not have a DVT.  He agreed.  The echo showed everything fine, just as it was at his annual check up in June and there was no DVT.  A cardiologist finally showed up to discharge him and after reviewing his history said the A Fib was due to the Amoxicillan prescribed for his leg wound.  It both triggers A Fib and prevents the Flecainide from working.  His conversion coincided with the last dose of antibiotic getting out of his system.  So, make sure your PCP understands what antibiotics you can or cannot take if susceptible to A Fib.  This cardiologist (not his regular) wanted him on Metoprolol 25 mg and Pradaxa.  My husband told him that his cardiologist axed the idea of a beta blocker because his heart rate is already low.  Sure enough, it dropped to 42 on the Metoprolol and my husband felt horrible.  The pradaxa gave him a full body rash!  He went back to his cardiologist for follow up and his BP was fine and heart rate in the mid 50's.  He also axed the Pradaxa since my husband has low platelets, bruises easily and gets bloody noses just from Fish Oil  He suggested he take Black Cumin Seed Oil for inflammation.  He discovered that by taking the Black Seed oil, he can eat carbs and not go into A Fib, since it does such a good job of reducing inflammation.   Oh and I forgot to say the hospital bill was over $26,000.  Houston Methodist!
