Senators lost. Down 3-0 in the series. Get the big hook......

Bah! Sharks get another chance tonight to get back home-ice advantage and even it up at 2-2.

Last game was such a travesty, who knows how they'll react.

Will do! It is a wonderful read. If anyone else would like to read Michelle's journal that she wrote during the gruelling Quest, let me know and I can email it out as an attachment...

Whennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn???????????

Yes, when considering a shoe phone, I would lean towards the suction cups. You could stick it to the side of your face, and have both hands free. VERY convenient.....

:lol: OMG....I asked Jack if we would have the wall-climbing option with the suction cups, and he looked at me like this <_< and said, "Uh, no. Come on....you guys are just being silly...."

I think I'm leaning towards the cleats. Suction cups would make a noise that would drive me nuts after a while

VERY good point! And tipping the scales .. .. .

Boy do I have great news. I went to bed on my own last night! No sleeping pills!!!! And I slept the entire night through, to do this on a work night is a big step for me!!!

:) :)

But what, pray tell, do you attribute this wonderful development to?

SILLIES!!!!!! 'tis freezing today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Susie is pleased. freezing and sunny. :)

Susie! I'm assuming this means it's in the high 70's er sumfin'......:rolleyes:

51F on the patio this morning. I had to <gasp> think about putting on a jacket!!

(Thick shirt was enough tho, basking in the sun :P )

Crap, someone tell me something REALLY DELICIOUS to make for dinner. I'm outta ideas.

I sure was salivating at a broiled pork tenderloin I saw on the foodporn network yesterday <drool> Very easy too.

could I create an add-on for my shoes that will allow me to dust or mop as I walk? Or do they have to be strictly suction cups?

Or a makeup brush so's I can fix up my face while on the phone?

Ah-HA!! Lovin' the add-on loophole! I'm pretty sure that as long as the cleat/suction requirement is met, it'd be perfectly legal to enhance either. (But not to the point of covering them w/ a false sole!)

What I want to know is, how strong are these suction cups? Ok, we can't be Spiderman, but would I have to jerk on my foot with each step? Forget that! I'd go with the cleats.

My sinus infection is back, worse than ever. I thought the doxy had it licked, but it's back. Going to call the doc for a refill. I don't know what else to do... The only abx I haven't tried are reeeeeally expensive.

EGADS- Emily, your avatar and son are SO funny!!!!! I must say Jack would have been a favorite of mine if I was his teacher....always loved the sillies best. I've been pondering this and I have decided I'm ging with the suction cups. The noise of the cleats would drive me insane

Reminds me of a game we used to play on road trips with our friend Nikki called "Would you rather....?" only much more disgusting like "Would you rather eat an eyeball or French kiss Susie's Zombie neighbor?"

I can't believe how hot it was the Central Valley yesterday- BLECH! My photosensitivity has gone crazy!!!

I have an announcement.....I'm having my hair cut! I decided to go a bit shorter, and wear it curly again.

oohhhhh....post pic immediately as I am considering a hair remodel.

And will the suction cups allow you to walk up walls like spiderman?

That WOULd be sweet!

Morning Sillies!!!!

Boy do I have great news. I went to bed on my own last night! No sleeping pills!!!! And I slept the entire night through, to do this on a work night is a big step for me!!!

I have my "appointment" today that we talked about a few days ago, the IT appointment....anyway I am torn, I am not sure I would like doing it and it is not really a increase in pay of anything....I am thinking about passing. Any ideas or suggestions.

Yeah! Sleep is good! I have to agree with Em about following your gut!

Oh sarah :( :( I'd lend you my PICC line but EWWW, that would be gross. I really really really hope spring brings you and your whole family MUCH improved health!

I'm sure enhancement is fine. Ptaum's got it--the cleat/suction requirement must be kept in place, however.

Okay, so there's a brand new EXCELLENT sentence for a newbie to set their eyes on when stumbling upon this thread....

Yep, I agree--more work than necessary. And I continue to be attracted by the tap-shoe possibility with cleats....

Ohhhhhhh my sillies .. . .wish we could all be face-to-face right now . . ..today might be The Day. Phoned a hypnotherapist earlier .. .. .at the time, I could've set a 4pm appt to quit smoking.

I think I'm ready to call back in the hopes 4pm is still available. <aaaaaaaaaaagh!!!!!>

Surprised that thinking of it gives me what must be a bit of a panic attack - or close to it. Hyperventilating even. <aaaaaaaaugh!!!!>

It NEEDS to be done!! So why not TODAY!!!! <aaaaaaaaaaah!!!!>

Every day, for more than 7000 days (since the 1.5yrs smoke-free after hypnosis) I've VERY rarely gone much over an hour w/out a cig.

Here we go .. . .I'm calling . . ....

Even though we're not actually there, we're all behind you, Ptaumn! You can do this--that anxiety will lift once you get there (I know it well)--this is the hard part....getting there.

How exciting :D

All may not be lost :D

Call the CS number on the bill and explain that you forgot since it was a new account and sweetly ask if they would waive the late fee this one time. It's worth a shot--many times they will if it's the first time ;)

Hopefully, you'll get a guy on the phone

Gah! How'd I miss that before, Tom calling the hypnotist on his shoe phone!!!!!!!!

Yes, we're all behind you on this.........'tis not easy.

Sarah - forgot to say I"m SO bummed about your sinus infection........got to kick them nasty buggers, once and for all. Harrumph!

battery being installed as we speak.......car's death delaying preparation of dinner.......gads.............I MUST make food for Kissey. The last two nights he has created some.......concoction.........lentils, rice, a couple of sauteed hot dogs in this ghastly mish-mash. Must make something suitable. (well, in all fairness, he DID reject my perfectly healthy and wonderful dinner of Sunday night because it "had sauce on it" - - his food pickiness is like a child's - so last night I didn't cook - tonight - I must).

sillies - we DO need a face to face, toot sweet.

Daggnabbit Sarah!!! I *HATE* that pesky infection!!!!!

well, in all fairness, he DID reject my perfectly healthy and wonderful dinner of Sunday night because it "had sauce on it" -

Now THAT cracks me up  .. . .sauce is SUCH a general term . ..pizza sauce, spaghetti sauce, . .... uhhhh .. . .there's more .. ...where IS my mental file of Common Universally-Enjoyed Sauces??!

So, my pork tenderloin idea fell flat? It looked SO good and SO easy. Dry rub was no more than 4 common ingred - incl plain white sugar, to my dismay.

I love the site Open Original Shared Link & the 'enter some ingred & get recipes using them' function.

OK . ..I did it ..I called .. . . . .I have 88min left to be a smoker.

The hyperventilating has ceased.

I'm calm.

She better be a damn good hypnotist.

The other time, it kinda felt like it didn't work, at first. But I believe it did.

And one thing that made it easier was that I left the next morning, driving from Chicago to Tucson to finish school.

Seemed that w/ such a major life-change happening, the cigs would be easier - just in that it wasn't the biggest change goin' on.

But ohhhhhhhhhhhh it seems like there are a THOUSAND situations where I habitually light up . . ... .. .

Eyes on the Prize . .. . .maybe in a month I'm healthier than ever & perfumes don't even bother me!

MEDICARE COVERAGE IN A NUTSHELL

The phone rings and the lady of the house answers, "Hello."

"Mrs. Sanders, please."

"Speaking."

"Mrs. Sanders, this is Doctor Jones at Saint Agnes Laboratory.

When your doctor sent your husband's biopsy to the lab yesterday,

a biopsy from another Mr. Sanders arrived as well, and we are now

uncertain which one is your husband's.

Frankly the results are either bad or terrible."

"What do you mean?" Mrs. Sanders asks nervously.

"Well, one of the specimens tested positive for Alzheimer's and the other

one tested positive for AIDS. We can't tell which is your husband's."

"That's dreadful! Can't you do the test again?" questioned Mrs. Sanders.

"Normally we can, but Medicare will only pay for these expensive tests one time."

"Well, what am I supposed to do now?"

"The people at Medicare recommend that you drop your husband off somewhere

in the middle of town. If he finds his way home, don't sleep with him.

Now THAT cracks me up  .. . .sauce is SUCH a general term . ..pizza sauce, spaghetti sauce, . .... uhhhh .. . .there's more .. ...where IS my mental file of Common Universally-Enjoyed Sauces??!

 the "I don't like things w/ sauce on it" discussion. now this WAS funny, as a substantial conversation did ensue. See, I was eating the MOST DELICIOUS Trader Joe's "Wine Country chicken Salad," pre-made in the fridge section, and put it atop some red leaf lettuce w/ a little salad dressing. So - Kissey looks at my offering and makes the little-boy face, scrunching his nose......"I don't like things with sauce" was applied to this chicken salad. it is NOT sauce, more of a light dressing, maybe.....it's got probably a mayonnaise base, w/ some seasoning, some dried cranberries, pecans, large chicken chunks, etc. Mighty tasty, but not....sauce. Well.....he said it had SAUCE, so taht was that. More for me (not cheap, this Janet darn stuff....... )

So....I asked him if he could/would eat my white chicken chili, because, you know, chili IS kind of saucy. No, he'll eat that. But I can't put too much cilantro in it.

I'm kind of flummoxed. He *WILL NOT* *WILL NOT* *WILL NEVER* eat onions, tomatoes, or mushrooms.....will pick each one out of anything. Can hardly endure a green vegetable.......'tis like feeding a child.

PtauM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG - is today really the day?????????????????????????? oh we must keep our fingers crossed and hope it works.............. would be phabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, Susie.....we were all waiting for the ONE crack in this great crystal of perfection. There it finally is....Kissey's tragic flaw--finicky eating.

I think I could live with that.:lol:

Ptaumn!! How'd it go?! How are you feeling?

Where's Nikki? Gotta hear about wee Al in Disney.....

Ridgewalker Contributor

Thanks everybody. Maybe I need a sinus transplant. Nah.... I still haven't been able to cut cigarettes out completely, although I cut waaaay back. I guess I just need to keep trying harder. This headache is miserable. I had a coughing spasm last night that was the worst thing.... Omg, my throat seized up and I couldn't breathe at all for (what felt like minutes) maybe 20-30 seconds. It eased eventually, and I ended up with a busted capilliary or something in my eyelid, and projectile vommitting... Not fun.

Susie, Ezra doesn't eat anything with sauce on it either. ;)

Tom, we can quit together, ok???

 Yes, his tragic flaw. Hard to cook for.

wait - there is one other, major flaw......Kissey doesn't think/view the world in the correct way. IN other words, he doesn't SEE things the way I do.  Practically at all. that is just wrong.

Yes, where IS Nicola? is she in some sort of forumless abyss, where no one can hear her scream????????

But seriously - strangest thing. David and I don't see things in the same way, ideologically....yet this is the most peaceful, effortless, and easiest relationship I"ve ever had....

Susie, Ezra doesn't eat anything with sauce on it either. ;)

 Yes, but, he's four, right? My Kissey is a grown man!!!! (I do love saying Kissey and grown man in same sentence  )

Sarah!!!!!!!! :( Oh, most egregious of horrors!!!!!!!!!!! When will it end....it just HAS to, soon.

THAUGHM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what's going on????????????????? is he in the voodoo chair, getting de-smoked??????????

OMG sillies - - just bought TWO boxes of GLUTEN-FREE Rice Chex - they were two for $4 - I am soooooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now Rice Chex for kissey for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!!!!!!!

tom Contributor

I remember last time too feeling there was a measure of hokey charlatanism in hypnotherapy - so I'm not discouraged by that.

I don't YET feel like a non-smoker, but I do expect to w/in the next couple days.

I didn't actually feel hip-mo-tized, but I thought the same the other time.

I get 5 "reinforcement sessions" over the next 6mos.

What the heck else did I want to say?

That immed after, as I started the car, I *did* start to reach for where a cig would be?

That I made coffee once home and at 1st sip thought a puff was next?

That I'm so far just a smoker who isn't smoking.

OK, now to go back & make fun of the sauceless etc

 I bet!

If I were you, there would've been some moment, a few minutes in, where I'm struck w/ the thought "is he just windin' me up?". And then having to list out what does and doesn't count as a sauce .. . . I'm guessing it's just those poured on after-the-fact, not essential parts-of-the-process like pizza sauce & BBQ sauce.

There's a good chance I'm overly amused by this & thoughts of the ensuing substantial conv.

(But why did I expect saucy jokes to come tumbling forth)

I'm kind of flummoxed. He *WILL NOT* *WILL NOT* *WILL NEVER* eat onions, tomatoes,

Let's DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm at 4hrs since the Last Cig. Somehow, earlier, I decided that the rest of the night will be easier once I make it to 10pm - in 2 hrs.

Then tomorrow morn's java but no smoke will be very VERY strange.

Last time I did that was 1988.

Hi @Scatterbrain Thank you for your reply.   Some of these things could be weaknesses, also triggered by stress, which perhaps have come about as the result of long-term deficiencies which can take a long time to correct.   Some could be completely unrelated. If it is of help, I'll tell you some of the things that started in the first year or two, following my diagnosis - I pinned everything on coeliac disease, but it turns out I wasn't always right!  Dizziness, lightheaded - I was eventually diagnosed with cervical dizziness (worth googling, could be your issue too, also if you have neck pain?)  A few months after diagnosis I put my neck out slightly carrying my seven-year-old above my head, and never assigned any relevance to it as the pain at the time was severe but so short-lived that I'd forgotten the connection. Jaw pain - stress. Tinnitus - I think stress, but perhaps exacerbated by iron/vitamin deficiencies. Painful ribs and sacroiliac joints - no idea, bloating made the pain worse. It got really bad but then got better. Irregular heart rate - could be a coincidence but my sister (not a coeliac) and I both developed this temporarily after our second Astra Zeneca covid jabs.   Subsequent Pfizer jabs didn't affect us. Brain fog - a big thing for people with certain autoimmune issues but in my case I think possibly worse when my iron or B12 are low, but I have no proof of this. Insomnia - stress, menopause. So basically, it isn't always gluten.  It might be worth having your vitamins and mineral levels checked, and if you have deficiencies speak to your Dr about how better to address them?

@NanceK, I do have Hypersensitivity Type Four reaction to Sulfa drugs, a sulfa allergy.  Benfotiamine and other forms of Thiamine do not bother me at all.  There's sulfur in all kinds of Thiamine, yet our bodies must have it as an essential nutrient to make life sustaining enzymes.  The sulfur in thiamine is in a ring which does not trigger sulfa allergy like sulfites in a chain found in pharmaceuticals.  Doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition (nor chemistry in this case).  I studied Nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology.  I wanted to know what vitamins were doing inside the body.   Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Not feeling well after starting Benfotiamine is normal.  It's called the "thiamine paradox" and is equivalent to an engine backfiring if it's not been cranked up for a while.  Mine went away in about three days.  I took a B Complex, magnesium and added molybdenum for a few weeks. It's important to add a B Complex with all eight essential B vitamins. Supplementing just one B vitamin can cause lows in some of the others and result in feeling worse, too.  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of all the B vitamins, not just thiamine.  You need all eight.  Thiamine forms including Benfotiamine interact with each of the other B vitamins in some way.  It's important to add a magnesium glycinate or chelate supplement as well.  Forms of Thiamine including Benfotiamine need magnesium to make those life sustaining enzymes.  (Don't use magnesium oxide.  It's not absorbed well.  It pulls water into the intestines and is used to relieve constipation.)   Molybdenum is a trace mineral that helps the body utilize forms of Thiamine.   Molybdenum supplements are available over the counter.  It's not unusual to be low in molybdenum if low in thiamine.   I do hope you will add the necessary supplements and try Benfotiamine again. Your goal is not to be a good puppet, there is no gain in that. You might want to restart the ones that helped.  It sounds more like you are suffering from malnutrition.  Gluten free foods are not fortified with things like Thiamine (B1), vitamin D, Iodine, B1,2,3,5,6 and 12 as non-gluten free products are required to be. There is a Catch-22 here.  Malnutrition can cause SIBO, and SIBO can worsen malnutrition. Another possibility is side effects from any medication that are taking.  I was on Metformin 3 months before it turned me into a zombi.  I had crippling side effects from most of the BP meds tried on me, and Losartan has many of the side effects on me from my pre gluten free days. Because you have been gluten free, you can test and talk until you are blue in the face but all of your tests will be negative.  Without gluten, you will not create the antigen against gluten, no antigens to gluten, so no small intestine damage from the antigens.  You will need to do a gluten challange to test positive if you need an official diagnosis, and even then, no guaranty: 10 g of gluten per day for 6 weeks! Then a full panel of Celiac tests and biopsy. At a minimum consider vitamin D, Liquid Iodine (unless you have dermatitis herpetiformis and iodine exasperates the rash), and Liquid Geritol. Push for vitamin D testing and a consult with a nutritionist experienced with Celiack Disease.  Most blood tests don't indicate nutritional deficiencies.  Your thyroid tests can be perfect, yet not indicate iodine deficiency for example.  Thiamine   test fine, but not pick up on beriberi.  Vegans are often B12 deficient because meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy are the primary souces of B12. Here is what I take daily.  10,000 IU vitamin D3 750 mg g a b a [   ] 200 mg CoQ10 [   ] 100 mg DHEA [   ] 250 mg thiamine B1 [   ] 100 mg of B2 [   ] 500 mg B5 pantothenic acid [   ] 100 mg B6 [   ] 1000 micrograms B12 n [   ] 500 mg vitamin c [   ] 500 mg taurine [   ] 200 mg selenium

Hi…Just a note that if you have an allergy to sulfa it’s best not to take Benfotiamine. I bought a bottle and tried one without looking into it first and didn’t feel well.  I checked with my pharmacist and he said not to take it with a known sulfa allergy. I was really bummed because I thought it would help my energy level, but I was thankful I was given this info before taking more of it.

Hello @Scatterbrain, Are you getting enough vitamins and minerals.  Gluten free food is not fortified so you may be starting to run low on B vitamins and vitamin D.   By the way you should get your mom checked for celiac disease.  You got it from your mom or dad.  Some studies show that following a gluten-free diet can stabilize or improve symptoms of dementia.  I know that for the 63 years I was eating gluten I got dumber and dumber until I started GFD and vitamin replenishment and it began to reverse.  Thiamine can get used up in a week or two.  Symptoms can come and go with daily diet.  Symptoms of beriberi due to Thiamine deficiency.   Difficulty walking. Loss of feeling (sensation) in hands and feet. Loss of muscle function or paralysis of the lower legs. Mental confusion. Pain. Speech difficulties. Strange eye movements (nystagmus) Tingling. Any change in medications? Last March I had corotid artery surgery (90 % blockage), and I started taking Losartan for blood pressure, added to the Clonidine I was taking already.  I was not recovering well and many of my pre gluten free symptoms were back  I was getting worse.  At first I thought it was caused a reaction to the anesthesia from the surgery, but that should have improved after two weeks.  Doctor thought I was just being a wimp. After three months I talked to my doctor about a break from the Losartan to see if it was causing it. It had not made any difference in my bp.  Except for clonindine, all of the previous bp meds tried had not worked to lower bp and had crippling side effects. One, I could not stand up straight; one wobbly knees, another spayed feet.  Inguinal hernia from the Lisinopril cough.  Had I contiued on those, I was destined for a wheelchair or walker. She said the symptoms were not from Losartan so I continued taking it.  Two weeks later I did not have the strength in hips and thighs to get up from sitting on the floor (Help, I can't get up😨).  I stopped AMA (not recommended).  Without the Losartan, a) bp did not change, after the 72 hour withdrawal from Losartanon, on clonidine only and b) symptoms started going away.  Improvement started in 72 hours.  After six weeks they were gone and I am getting better.
