Gaaaaahhhhhhh....all this talk of happy childhood junk food memories.... :(:( I've got none, really....T'was diagnosed with type one at seven. There went all the Dairy Queen weekend treats, McDonald's milkshakes, Wendy's frosties....

When I'm hypoglycemic, I'll have a half a caramilk bar at times......YUUUUUUUUMMMMMMM......

So! She's HERE!!!!!!

Elsie is a gorgeous standard poodle. A little smaller than Gus, and pute white. She DESPARATELY needs to be clipped, so I've got her going in on Monday. I'll put up her av then. Gus quite fancies her. They walk together on their leashes splendidly - - this is important, as DH and I will run with them both together.

The kids were SO surprised. They didn't believe that she was actually OUR dog, that she was staying when we first brought her into the yard. When it became clear, Jack's eyes welled up, and in a little voice, he said, "I can't believe this. I'm SO happy, mommy"....

And big hugs all around. My daughter immediately got on the phone and called all ten of her friends. Hilarious......:lol:

So far, so great....It's almost too good to be true. I'm waiting for some calamity. Too easy, I tell you...

Off to Petsmart for a new ID tag, and treats!

Hopefully none of the "fluid onslaught" I've been warned about  ...new dog in a new environment and all.

Emily--That's great! How sweet that Gus has little Elsie to pal around with :D That did happen fast--wow...no wonder your kids almost couldn't believe it.

Hope everything stays calm, cool, and collected there :)

YYYYAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!!! Welcome home BellyDog!!! Hope all goes smoothly, Emily!!!

 Yeah, I was thinkin' this, too. However, Lisa, you want to make sure you have your own fluid onslaught (whatever it may be) and not let Emily end up owing you one because she got yours . . . Have you noticed her high post count? Her next big turnover will most likely require some sort of insurance mandated clean-up. You don't want that!!!! Keep yer own . . . even if you have to rig it . . . oops, I spilled a glass of milk on the floor . . . darn it, the ballcock is malfunctioning. I shall have to go to Lowes and buy a new one so the toilet doesn't keep running . . . believe me, it'll be worth it.

So, I meant to ask . . . what was it that tipped the scales for your hubby? Are you still walking around nekkid?

YYYYAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!!! Welcome home BellyDog!!! Hope all goes smoothly, Emily!!!

It's so great here.... :) You guys are terrific, excited about my little life's twists, let alone caring at all! I honestly was as excited to tell you guys about Elsie (perhaps even more... )as I was to tell my kids!

You bet, it could REALLY be worth it, as you can perhaps have Patti's plumber in to install it..... ;)

It's bizarre....I just don't know...

Perhaps it's been because I haven't been nekkid.......<_<

Emily, great news about Elsie. Somehow I just knew Will would come around to seeing this your way. Occasionally I am an optimist. Which reminds me...

To an optimist, the glass is half-full.

To a pessimist, the glass is half-empty.

To an engineer, the glass is the wrong size.

The biggest excitement in my life today was repainting the lines in the parking lot at the store.

Now for some really big excitement, if I remember right, today was Alex and Ryan's wedding. She's about two hours away from me, and had pretty much the same great weather we did. I hope it was perfect for them. :)

OMG.....How could we have forgotten Alex and Ryan's wedding???!!

They'll be rockin' on the dancefloor right now......

I'm telling you, she'd better be on here early tomorrow morning, reporting on how the wedding night went.....

She should follow Tom's lead and have a sidekick with her so that she can check in off and on all day long!!! I hope the yeti is behaving himself. You know how he gets when he doesn't catch the garter.

Just in case you are checking in . . . Congratulations Alex!!

The bank have phoned me today to tell me that hubby\\\'s card has been \\\'cloned\\\' (very sci-fi) and that a person in India has very kindly taken it upon themselves to spend ALL our cash (and then some)

Either that or Terry has a secret double life in Mumbai  (he does look very tanned  )

HEINOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How can people like that sleep at night?!

Umm, Nikki, my dear friend, when you say you had your three children "the old fashioned way," do you mean, no epidural?! OWIE! I could not handle that. I wanted my epidural. Actually, I tended to want it when I was about 8 months along.

Yeah, those were my fav. And let's not forget about Moon Pies :P

(We're going to have Nikki googling like crazy :lol::lol:)

Moonpies!!! Ohhhhh, how I loved Moonpies. All that sticky, gooey, deliciousness! I'd estimate that at least two inches on my hips are due to a Moonpie phase I went through a couple years ago. sigh.

The kids were SO surprised. They didn't believe that she was actually OUR dog, that she was staying when we first brought her into the yard. When it became clear, Jack's eyes welled up, and in a little voice, he said, "I can't believe this. I'm SO happy, mommy"....

....but no, no epidural either... damned if anyone's going to stick a needle in MY SPINE!!!!!!!!!! :o:o

OMG!!!

Congratulations Alex & Ryan!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is not just a psychiatrist.  He is also a neuroscientist.  And yes, I have already read those studies.   I agree with benfotiamine.  This is short term while glutened/inflammation occurs.  As I had already mentioned, these symptoms no longer exist when this phase passes.  And yes, I know that celiac is a disease of malnutrition.  We are working with a naturopath.

Please do more research before you settle on nicotine. Dr. Paul New house is a psychiatrist.  His latest study involves the effect of nicotine patches on Late Life Depression which has reached no long term conclusions about the benefits.   Effects of open-label transdermal nicotine antidepressant augmentation on affective symptoms and executive function in late-life depression https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39009312/   I'm approaching the subject from the Microbiologist's point of view which shows nicotine blocks Thiamine B1 uptake and usage:   Chronic Nicotine Exposure In Vivo and In Vitro Inhibits Vitamin B1 (Thiamin) Uptake by Pancreatic Acinar Cells https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26633299/   While supplementation with thiamine in the form Benfotiamine can protect from damage done by  nicotine: Benfotiamine attenuates nicotine and uric acid-induced vascular endothelial dysfunction in the rat https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18951979/   I suggest you study the beneficial effects of Thiamine (Benfotiamine and TTFD) on the body and mental health done by Dr. Derrick Lonsdale and Dr. Chandler Marrs.  Dr. Lonsdale had studied thiamine over fifty years.   Hiding in Plain Sight: Modern Thiamine Deficiency https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8533683/ I suggest you read their book Thiamine Deficiency Disease, Dysautonomia, and High Calorie Malnutrition.     Celiac Disease is a disease of malabsorption causing malnutrition.  Thiamine and benfotiamine: Focus on their therapeutic potential https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10682628/

Thanks for your response.  Everything you mentioned he is and has been doing.  Tobacco is not the same as nicotine.  Nicotine, in the form of a patch, does not cause gastrointestinal irritation.  Smoking does. He is not smoking.  Please do your research before stating false information. Dr. Paul Newhouse has been doing research on nicotine the last 40 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have. It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.
    • trents
@Martha Mitchell, your reaction to the lens implant with gluten sounds like it could be an allergic reaction rather than a celiac reaction. It is possible for a celiac to be also allergic to gluten as it is a protein component in wheat, barley and rye.
