Terry has 'tool envy'

Heck, your bum cheeks will be up by your neck !!!!!!!

Durned men and their tool obsessions (you guys are gonna have to fill in emoticons until I phigure how to get 'em back)

They only way she will get them up as high as her neck is if she has "The knob" (lol)

Well, apparently my fears on that front were completely unfounded. I guess the days I was interviewing and stuff people were wearing their dull clothes, because I haven't got anything remotely as flashy as what some of those girls are wearing. But the new job is really great. They really do train you and pay attention to what you're doing, it's awesome. I'm tired of places that don't actually take the time to train you what to do.

Yeah bunbun, yer got a great job and ya can dress expressively to boot!! You lucked out (and you deserve it)

Phantastic!!!! I wish I had his energy! He's been mountain biking, hiking, planting trees, installing gutters, building a pergola, putting in a vegetable garden, finalizing his research, writing papers.......it wears me out just thinking about it!

Ah, the wonderment of reinspired youth!

Quick poop in cause I HAD to share this with you all. It's ridiculously awesome (and VERY cute!).

Since 2008, two French hikers have chronicled their trek from Miami, FL to the tip of South America, a journey of 15,000km (about 9,320 miles) through 13 countries.

I had been sent stills of that couple and their sweet kitteh. Daddy's kitteh! Now, if I were to carry my kitteh I wouldn't have the energy for carrying anything else'. Of course, I wouldn't have the energy to walk all the way to Ushaia anyway. Poopy cow. Getting old sucks.

Yeah, it's raining here this morning, but hey, that's good news because we are officially in drought - less than half our normal rainfall so far this year. Plants are all going SLURP.

I am breathless in amazement, Leeeesargh... . . ....what an amazing, inspirational son you have, there. Perhaps we won't read about him in a novel or biography, but it sounds like we will be able to reference him in medical journals.. . . ......it's all good! :)

OMG.. .. .. ...adorable. Yes, I, too, would be struggling along, breathing hard and staggering, if my big tom Bryce was perched on my shoulders... . ....actually, he would drape himself, and cover my entire upper body. Methinks he is a cougar, actually....... . . ...

May all go to hell this week since we'll be in Victoria.... Afternoon tea at the Empress hotel may screw it all up, but for 55$ per person, you'd better believe I'm gonna eat anything and everything they set in front of me!!

The Empress is absolutely beautiful, Rah-chyellle! We were there in the fall.....dinna spring for the high tea, but sat in the exquisite lounge sipping the cheapest vino they could bring us... . .....STILL cha-ching, but what an experience!

....and NOW I know about cuteoverload.com <_< = VORTEX!!!!!!!!!!

Yup.....I'm in trouble, now. . .. . . .. ..<_<

Jan-it!!!!!!!! I see ya down there :D

Where ya been--missed you. Phill us in.

Took a little over an hour to catch up on the reading.

Been really busy and it's not going to get better for a while although now that I'm caught up, it shouldn't be as bad. Whenever I get behind, I seem to put off getting back on here until I have time to catch up on all the reading . . . I know I should just jump in, but I can't seem to do that.

Skeeter had her appt in Cinti. As luck would have it, the doc we saw was a resident (years and years ago) under the doc that we were leaving behind <_< . New doc was nice but didn't really see the point of us driving all the way to Cinti since we have perfectly good docs here. I told him I wasn't allowed to switch docs within the practice and got an "Oh . . . yeah, we used to do that here . . . don't know why anyone would have that policy". Then questioned me about another doc at the other big practice in town . . . and I told him she was out on maternity leave . . . got another "Oh". He did not think Skeeter had/has gastroparesis since she can eat within hour(s) of regurgitating/vomitting without any additional consequences. He thinks it's GERD. He did a few blood tests . . . all came back normal . . . still waiting on tTG. No additional tests are planned. I feel like I came across as an overconcerned mother. I feel like Skeeter isn't "sick" enough to get their attention . . . especially when you see some of the kids that they are treating (which is heartbreaking). However, she's probably missed about half of her math classes since the beginning of the year . . . of course, I didn't think to tell him that but I think he would think she is stressed out about math (which she is not) and the GERD is the result of the stress. BAH!!! He put her on a higher dose PPI for the next four months . . . she threw up at school the next day.

Been birding a few times since I was last here . . . I am totally loving this hobby. I ordered myself some fancy schmancy binoculars for Mother's Day. They should arrive tomorrow. The people I have met have been just fabulous.

Nik, love the hair coloUr. I also started WW about a month ago. I have to get down to a certain weight before the next Hilton Head girls trip in late Sept or else pay the price (yes, money is involved). I've got about 11 pounds to go but the next two months are NOT going to be good . . . lots of traveling. Then after I'm in the clear (bet-wise) I've got an additional 10 pounds (at least) to lose. The good news is that I haven't been my current weight for about four years.

Did not use fast reply so I can not remember what else to say . . .

OH!!! BUN!!! Congrats on the job!!!

Hi to T!! . . . and Hi to everyone else, too. Not very psillie here but it'll come around, just need to get back in the swing of things.

Hi, Jyaghnutt! :) You've been a busy bee...... . . ....great to see you back. No great AHA! moment with Skeeter :(... .. . ...keep pluggin' -- you'll get your answer!

Congrats on the weight loss! I was about to list on ebay a large, framed work of art with precision reflective glass on the front - - sounds like you could happily hang it beside your computer, so I'll just send it down to you.. .. ..

<_<

Darn210 Enthusiast

Nope . . . not ready for any mirror-like artwork. Did you not hear me . . . got at least 21 pounds to lose(that would be 1 stone and a half dozen pieces of gravel to Nik).

Have you ever wondered why some mirrors are skinny mirrors and some mirrors are fat mirrors? My phrend here swears that Ann Taylor puts skinny mirrors in their dressing rooms which convincer her to buy their clothes . . . when she gets home, they look nothing like they did in the store. We've got a fat mirror at work. I always look 10 pounds heavier there. (I'm sure it's the mirror and not me :P )

Um.... . . . . . . . ... . .....aren't.....ALL mirrors..... . ...FAT mirrors?..... .. .. . .. ....

You mean... .... . ..those mirrors that I look into and think "oh, gawd....thank heaven they all make me look heavier than I really am" might, in fact, be ACCURATE?? Or, gawd -- THIN mirrors?? :o

No way. ALL mirrors in me day-to-day travels are PHAT mirrors.

Yep. ALL of 'em.

Well, I must say . . . all cameras ARE phat cameras. One of my favourite lines from Friends . . . watching the "Prom" video of Monica and Rachel from high school and Monica is hefty . . . He was so laaaazy as a boy...couldn't even bribe him with money. I found out after he was grown that he would do a terrible job on the dishes so I would give up and do them meself <_<

He did a complete turnaround once he started college.

At his wife's wedding shower, she got a bunch of small stuff put in a laundry basket. Someone mentioned that she needed to teach her hubby how to use it. She replied, "I don't have to.....he came that way!" :P

But he was a really good kid. Vey mature for his age......and extremely smart.

Here's my boy.......since you weren't here the first time I posted it

Looked around my house & most of my paintings do not have glass on them. Only the small ones & the ones in dark corners. Wasn't that smart of me? Also, all mirrors are of the waist up varity so you cannot see your bum.

Nice looking boy man! And I do remember the pic of your nephew!! ;)

Man, I'm so consistent wif the chores and my son STILL shoves his dirty clothes under his dresser and in the back of his closet. He's had the TV taken away from him so many times, you'd think he'd get it by now--hubby says to give him some slack, since he's only 4 :P

When bunnies and cats get together, its rarely a good outcome in my experience.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! How are you this clever this early in the morning? Oh wait, different time zones :P

I think one of the rules of dieting is that if its healthy, the calories don't count.

I wish that were true! I always gain weight in the summer because of all of the fruit I eat. They're called "personal" watermelons, but I really don't think they're meant to be eaten by one person in one sitting :P

jerseyangel Proficient

Ya know, call me whatever but I wasn't real concerned with my boys doing chores. Granted, I was home during the day, and honestly it was easier for me to do things once and get them done. I like things a certain way, and didn't think it was fair to expect the kids to give the same attention to detail.

I (we) were consistent about many things from an early age--among them--school work/home work, drugs, honesty, respect for others and their belongings, fair play--ya know, don't be a jerk. I did laundry, but they didn't throw their clothes around and kept their rooms neat. After eating, they cleared their own dishes. We picked our battles....I went with my gut on a lot of stuff, not necessarily what was the 'accepted way' at the time.

I grew up in a very dictatorial home, and I tried to find that place with my kids where they felt comfortable, yet with boundaries. It was at times very difficult, going against what was ingrained, and of course all that 'helpful' advice that intimated that I was doing it all wrong. <_< So far, they have made me proud--and I say 'so far', cause you never know what's around the corner. They each have their own homes now and both of them are neat, clean, and decent working members of society--and most important to me--we all like each other. :D

Whew!

So, you had both and endoscopy with biopsy and a colonoscopy. That helps me understand what you were trying to communicate. No, no! It never occurred to me that you were trying to mislead me. It's just that we get a lot of posters on the forum who are misinformed about what celiac disease is and how it is diagnosed so I need some clarification from you which you were so gracious to give.
    • barb simkin
I had both the genetic genes for celiac.  My gastroenologist advised he also took a biopsy during one of my colonoscopies and endoscopy and advised I had celiac disease, along with stomach ulcers from my esophagus stomach down to my small bowel. I was shown the ulcers on the catscan and endoscopy report.  I also had polyps in 3 places throughout my large bowel. I was on a strict diet for months following.  I am sorry if I didnt define how I was diagnosed with celiac disease.  I am sorry if you think I was misleading you. I also had to pay $150.00 for the genetic testing.
    • trents
So, I'm a little confused here. I understand you to say that you have not been officially diagnosed with celiac disease. Is this correct?  You have had genetic testing done to check for the potential for developing celiac disease and that was positive. Is this correct? I think you meant to type "gluten sensitivity" but you typed "gluten insensitivity". Just so we are clear about the terminology, there is celiac disease and there is NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity). They are not the same but they have overlapping symptoms. Celiac disease causes damage to the small bowel lining but NCGS does not. NCGS is often referred to in short form as gluten sensitivity. However, people often use the terms celiac disease and gluten sensitivity interchangeably so it can be unclear which disease they are referring to. Genetic testing cannot be used to diagnose celiac disease but it can be used to establish the potential to develop active celiac disease. About 40% of the general population has one or both of  the genes that have been most strongly connected with the potential to develop active celiac disease but only about 1% of the population actually develops active celiac disease. This makes the genetic test useful for ruling out celiac disease but not for diagnosing it. A colonoscopy cannot be used to diagnose celiac disease because it doesn't permit the scope to go up into the small bowel where celiac disease does the damage. They use an endoscopy ("upper GI) for checking the small bowel lining for celiac damage.
    • barb simkin
I did nor read the chocolate pkg as it was of fered to me and I ate 2 pcs. I do know that only very dark chocolate and and a very few others are gluten free. Most alcohols contain gluten. I have several yrs of not knowing my celiac condition as docs would not do the test. After looking on the internet about my sufferings I insisted on the gene trsting which showed positive for gluten insensitivity and a biopsy on my next colonoscopy that also showed positive which could not help the damage done to my small bowel. So I very rarely have a glass of wine
    • trents
@barb simkin, are you sure the chocolate products are gluten-free and not "manufactured on equipment that also handles wheat products and tree nuts", i.e., cross-contamination? And what kind of alcoholic beverages are we talking about? Most beers are made from gluten-containing grains. Just checking.
