No, no glands are involved, it's a rather glandless condition. Sooo, nothing to squeeze. No scooting.

Sillies I did some soul searching today....I am thinking of a career move, I might go back into the childcare field. I miss working with the little ones. I worked in daycare for a few years, and then I ended up at this center with a high turnover rate with staff....things went downhill and with me being sick then (before celiac diagnosis) and in a rough relationship the job was hard to keep.

This sounds great Amanda.

Life is much too short to be stuck in a miserable job. I say go where your heart is leading you, and now that your personal life is on track and your body is healing and stable (post diagnosis) there is no better time than the present for you to make this change.

Thanks for the kind words Julie! I think I know deep down that a move is what is right, it is scary though.....I just need that push.

This sounds like an excellent option, Amanda. Here's my (unsolicated) advice: You're not desparate for a job. Be picky . . . be happy with the people, happy with the facility, happy with the commute. You worked at one that didn't work out so you know what to look out for . . . GOOD LUCK!!! :)

That has a very good, true sound to it, Amanda. Like Janet says, you're in an ideal position: not desparate, your bills are being paid, so you can take your time and have the luxury of waiting for something that really fits.

Is the option there for you to be a home-based caregiver? Lots of advantages to this, but I can suddenly think of one or two disadvantages, as well. Ever since I became self-employed, I vowed I'd never again work for someone else. It's been terrific (and no one else has to put up with me..at least administratively!) :lol:

I am not sure I can do self-employment. I may not have the discipline....and being an in-home child care giver comes with a lot of hard times. I have seen many have to go out of business due to allegations of this and that. I think it may be easier to work for an established chain.

I think you have come to an excellent decision. You are so young (from my perspective) and have your whole life ahead of you. It makes no sense to be surrounded by people who constantly bring you down.

From what I know of you, working with children would be a perfect fit. Definately, go for it--be choosy, and find the "fit" that is best for you. :) Anyone that hires you is very lucky! ;)

From how you've spoke you clearly love kids - therefore I think it would be a job you would get alot of 'job satisfaction' from. :)

Gosh, I do think working with kids is a vocation - 'cos although I've got 3 of my own *I* couldn't work with the little critters *shudder* :lol:

Thankfully today is a much better day at work. Things sailing smoothly on this end will help with the search for my next move. I won't be in such a hurry to take the 1st offer just to jump ship.

I adore children. I am a kid at heart and I can go down to their level and that helps a lot.

I may have to let you know in advance, we may not be able to have Danny join us, he is currently trying to defend his reasonings as to why they will no longer be selling tobacco products at Wegmans. He said he will try though, :)

I was just at the Allentown store on Sunday, and didn't notice they didn't carry tobacco products (although I'm not a smoker anymore, so I probably wouldn't have noticed it).

First time we had been to Wegmans since before the holidays, so I stocked up and spent a fortune :o

I was flipping through channels yesterday and I saw a little segment on some news program/talk show. This life coach has written a book about "living outrageously", making changes, doing something bold in our lives.

I have always liked that quote, "do the thing you most fear", kind of the same idea.

Change is scary, but I think you are getting the message loud and clear that a change is needed, i think a lot of times listening to those gut feelings and following them will lead you to a much happier life.

I am using the wrong quote, they are stopping in Feb, its been all over the news and people are all Poed...well why should tell sell bakery items that cause obesity....etc etc...

I was there on Sunday, I think we are stopping there tonight to pick up some things for dinner.

Do a google search about the cigarette sales....you should see what the people up in NY are saying...some things are harsh.

      Yes.  Now, if you hit your finger with a hammer once, wouldn't you do your best not to do it again?  You have identified a direct connection between gluten and pain.  Gluten is your hammer.  Now you have to decide if you need a medical diagnosis.  Some countries have aid benefits tgat you can get if you have the diagnosis, but you must continue eating a gluten-normal diet while pursuing the diagnosis. Otherwise the only reason to continue eating gluten is social. There are over 200 symptoms that could be a result of celiac disease.. Celiac Disease and Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity  both cause multiple vitamin and mineral deficiency.  Dealing with that should help your recovery, even while eating gluten.  Phosphatidyl Choline supplements can help your gut if digesting fats is a problem,  Consider that any medications you take could be causing some of the symptoms, aside from gluten.

      Welcome to the forum, @Ben98! If you have been consciously or unconsciously avoiding gluten because of the discomfort it produces then it is likely that your blood antibody testing for celiac disease has been rendered invalid. Valid testing requires regular consumption of generous amounts of gluten. The other strong possibility is that you have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) which shares many of the same symptoms with celiac disease but does not have the autoimmune component and thus does not damage the small bowel lining. It is 10x mor common than celiac disease. There is currently no test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out. Some experts in the field believe it can be a precursor to the development of celiac disease. Having one or both of the primary genes for developing celiac disease does not imply that you will develop active celiac disease. It simply establishes the potential for it. About 40% of the population has the genetic potential but only about 1% develop active celiac disease.

      TTG blood test and total IGA tested on many occasions which have always remained normal, upper GI pain under my ribs since 2022. I had an endoscopy in 2023 which showed moderate gastritis. no biopsy’s were taken unfortunately. genetic test was positive for HLADQ2. extreme bloating after eating gluten, it’ll feel like I’ve got bricks in my stomach so uncomfortably full. the pain is like a dull ache under the upper left almost like a stitch feeling after a long walk. I am just wanting some advice has anyone here experienced gastritis with a gluten issue before? thank you
