Susan, have you ever seen Fever Pitch? It's with Drew Barrymore and her boyfriend is soooo into baseball? It would give you a good laugh.

OMG - I watched FEver Pitch with Robert  and we thought it was cute....so I used to ask him, after that, "I know you love the team....but has the team ever loved you back?" The sports obsession....if Robert  was able to love a woman at least EQUALLY as much as sports...and put her first in his life (not anywhere from second to eighth, depending on circumstances), he may have a chance.....

okay I am home from teh store, and I have nuggets  and I am not safe....

those fingernails....ewwwwwwwww.....so gross......you know, my nails have never been able to grow to safe my life. I think it's just genetic, and no matter what you eat or do (I eat LOTS of protein, always have, and my nails could never do that).

CarlaB Enthusiast

Susan, did you miss my post about the nuggets??

DingoGirl Enthusiast

Nope Carla, saw the nugget post, and replied, asking if you were an ALIEN, some extra-terrestial creature that is only able to eat ONE-FOURTH of a donut - impossible, simply impossible  and I wouldn't even bother with two bites..... :P

CarlaB Enthusiast

Oh, I made it last longer than two bites! It was very small though .... better than nothing! I'm so sick of meat and veggies!!!

DingoGirl Enthusiast

I'll let you all know when the Bulldogs play next.....we'll all send up a big prayer for the most hideous losing season ever :angry::lol::angry::lol: Imagine, last year, I had to drink two beers each game for SOME modicum of pleasure....and oh, how sick I felt the next day......

Carla - would you feel sick if you ate the whole donut?

Favorite movies:

Shawshank Redemption

Fried Green Tomatoes

Like Water for Chocolate *yum, would be so painful to watch now, off gluten :(

Schindler's List (yes, I like the dark, serious ones)

Saving Private Ryan - but I could only watch it once

Chocolat

.....oh there are so many and I can't think of ANY right now!!!

the dingos are staring.....gotta go do something fun.....

you know something, I am seriously going ot go to Krispy Kreme one day soon, and pit out - not kidding - I want to see what happens......and don't try to talk me out of it.....I'm going to do it :o

CarlaB Enthusiast

Favorite movie, now that's a tough question!!! I love movies! Morgan and I would watch romantic comedies together. I think one of my favorites is Kate and Leopold. I also like anything with the Pride and Prejudice theme -- all versions of Pride and Prejudice, You've Got Mail, and Bridget Jones Diary. Adam is my Mr. Darcy. :) I guess this explains why I like movies like Cutting Edge and Cinderella Story (remember, I have four girls!!).

I love Pirates of the Carribean, too! Really anything with Johnny Depp.

I like Johnny Depp as an actor ... most of his characters are so unique. Chocolat is one I remember liking, too.

Susan, I am not supposed to have sugar, caffeine, or alcohol so that I can get my adrenals working again. So, the donut wouldn't actually make me feel sick, but it might set back the progress I'm making on getting better. I hadn't had ANY treats for six weeks, so I planned it out that I would have part of a donut and a cup of decaf on Sunday .... so I was excited and looking forward to it, truthfully, it's the first few bites that are the best anyway!

DingoGirl Enthusiast

that's right Carla...you are on that strict adrenal repair diet....I have been reading up on that and it seems difficult - nay, impossible for me! I've gone without sugar for years (years ago) and may have to try it again - yikes! So you have your own MR DARCY??? OMG I just watched the six-hour A& E version of PRide and Prejudice that my neighbor loaned me...it was fabulous. If you can rent it, you must!

Um, a very close friend of mine had a fling with Johnny Depp about 18 years ago, or whenever he was doing 21 Jump STreet. I have been friends with this girl for 28 or 29 years, and she just told me this about six months ago, and has never told another living soul..... and of course I am never allowed to tell...(well, this doesn't count, does it?) Anyway apparently he is DELISH and she can never tell her husband (they were not married then) because if they ever see him in anything, he might remember it and bring it up or something.....

Cecile - you in the pj's - I can see it.....it's just too hard to get dressed sometimes, isnt' it?

Guest ~jules~

Welllllll..............I'm not 40, but 30. Its nice to see that I'll still be a big dork with a sense of humor when the time comes!!! hee hee :D just kiddin....you guys are too funny....

CarlaB Enthusiast

Stick around Jules, we're just here for silly girl talk!

Yea, the adrenal repair diet stinks. But I was to the point where I couldn't get out of bed, so whatever works!!

Adam was my Mr. Darcy, in that I thought he was a pompous a$$ a short time after I met him and I hated him!! ;) He's not Mr. Darcy with a big mansion and servants though .... A&E is my favorite version of it, it's very much like the book. You would be hard pressed to name a version I have not seen!!

Carla,

I liked Cutting Edge too, back in my movie watching days. :)

I have a sassafras daughter on my hands now. She thinks she should be able to correct her work before I grade it. Keep in mind she doesn't miss anything very often. She doesn't like making mistakes and it makes our days very challenging. :(

I didn't actually grade ... I marked what ones were wrong, then gave it back for them to correct. I never kept track of grades till HS ... the way I figured it, they were getting straight 100%'s!!!!

Favorite movies - I love Pirates of the Carribean too! (But I HATED the second one ) My other favorites are The Sound of Music, Ever After, Raising Helen and an old one called The Music Box. I rarely watch grown-up movies, since most everything needs to be appropriate for my 9 year old son.

Carla - I can only imagine all the chick flicks you've watched with 4 girls! Do you have whole scenes memorized from Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Princess Diaries 1 & 2 and Freaky Friday? My 2 definitely love the girls' movies!

Oh, yes! You should see how Morgan and I talk, we use movie lines frequently. If someone hasn't seen the movie, she and I will laugh because the person we're talking to just thinks we are very clever and come up with good lines .... Which reminds me of a scene in Win A Date With Tad Hamilton!!

We own all the movies you mentioned, except for The Music Box and Freaky Friday 1.

I liked the second Pirates ...

Have you ever seen The Music Box? I don't own it and can't find it to rent anymore, but if you can in your area check it out. Good for about 13 and older. It's a great story.

One of my kids like the second Pirates too... I'm hoping the 3rd one will be better.

There are very few lessons that are graded but I do go over all her work and mark what she gets wrong if anything. Seems like first grade they just graded with satisfactory, improving, unsatisfactory or whatever. For those of you with kids in school when do they switch to letter grades?

rinne Apprentice

Mr.Depp is definitely swoon material. I can see why she might not tell her husband.

The first movie that I thought of was Fifty First Dates, I love that movie. Has anyone seen it?

Jules.....as I grow older....dorker than ever :D because who cares if you're just a big goof??? and if you can't laugh at yourself...and with your friends - - well, stick with us here, we're all just girls at heart, anyway. ;) Some days, I feel like a teenager still...and wonder where these beginnings of LOVE HANDLES are coming from....grrrrrrrrrrr!! of course, some days...I feel 100.....ugh......

OMG - some days my memory is so shot, that I told a good friend the other day, please tell me who I am and who you are, just like that movie, 50 First Dates, because I might not remember

Carla....too bad your Mr. Darcy doesn't have the servants and that mansion..... :P So you didn't like him at first, huh? Did you know he was so GOOFY in the beginning?

Laura - oh, you're sick during moving?? that is really heinous....take the day off, no more boxes, get lots of sleep!

here's MY big excitement...new season of The Bachelor starting tonight....I"ll be in bed at 9 with my little dingo, to watch it :D Why oh why am I still so fascinated with the "reality" dating shows?

The Johnny Depp situation....OMG......my friend, and now that I think of it, she was about 22 or 23, so this was longer than 18 years ago....she lived in Southern CA, and was married, to her first husband.... and so she never told a soul, until telling me....this town is full of gossips, we've all known each other forever, and it's not safe to tell things like that! (I am keeping the secret until my grave, but dang, had to tell you guys - it's such a juicy secret!! :o )

Liz...your little doggie is so cute!

No, we had an instant attraction and dated for the last month of school. He had a girlfriend in Texas, we were in Indiana ... it was very casual, you know, studying together, ice cream, etc. He was "allowed" to go out, but not get intimate. The next school year, I realized he was a pompous jerk and I avoided him. The following year we started dating and got married as soon as I graduated (he's a year older). Now when I complain, he says it's and invalid complaint, I knew that before I married him :lol: I was a very serious student and seriously into music in HS. It was so refreshing to go out with someone spontaneous and fun! Yet, that same personality trait I love, also drives me crazy .... Oh, and I grew up in big houses and at the country club, I wasn't interested in finding that again ... but that's another story ... we started out dirt poor, but now he makes enough to keep me spoiled!

I have that one, too. Love it!

Now they do letter grades from the beginning ... at least here and in the school in Indiana.

No, I haven't seen it.

The second Pirates was a set-up for the third in the same way the middle Star Wars, both the new and the old, had the second episode set up the story for the third. So, as it stands alone, it's not great as you don't get to see the ending!

Some of my favourite movies are 'A Beautiful Mind', The Fugitive (with Harrison Ford, I love all movies with him), Sabrina (with Harrison Ford), The Witness (okay, you guessed who is starring  ), Sarah Plain and Tall (with Glenn Close), Ben Hur, Spartacus, Exodus, The Patriot, Bambi -_- ...............well, there are more, but I'll have to look at them to remember, I very rarely watch anything but my computer screen  .

:lol::lol:

I can relate to that. :P

DingoGirl Enthusiast

Oh, I loved A Beautiful Mind, and loved BOTH Sabrinas.

I can never remember my top 10 movie lists....must write it down one day...and then, when I do, only new movies come to mind....forgetting that in our family, we must have seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off about 50 times....and then, there's my favorite COMEDY - Home for the Holidays (Holly Hunter), and one of my favorites of all, and no one knows about it, is called Men Don't Leave, years ago with Jessica Lange - favorite ending of all movies, when the little boy is with his family and says......and when we are all together, I am saved..... :(:) something like that, extremely poignant.

very hungry, gotta eat!

Oh yeah, I like Harrison Ford too! I even liked him in "Regarding Henry" where he got shot in the head and became a nice guy. And I loved him in Star Wars and in The Witness. I like the remake of Sabrina and the original with Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart.

This may be the problem. Every time you eat gluten it is like giving a booster shot to your immune system, telling it to react and produce antibodies again.
    • asaT
Scott, I am mostly asymptomatic. I was diagnosed based on high antibodies, low ferritin (3) and low vitamin D (10). I wasn't able to get in for the biopsy until 3 months after the blood test came back. I was supposed to keep eating gluten during this time. Well why would I continue doing something that I know to be harmful for 3 more months to just get this test? So I did quit gluten and had the biopsy. It was negative for celiacs. I continued gluten free with iron supps and my ferritin came back up to a reasonable, but not great level of around 30-35.  Could there be something else going on? Is there any reason why my antibodies would be high (>80) with a negative biopsy? could me intestines have healed that quickly (3 months)?  I'm having a hard time staying gluten free because I am asymptomatic and i'm wondering about that biopsy. I do have the celiacs gene, and all of the antibody tests have always come back high. I recently had them tested again. Still very high. I am gluten free mostly, but not totally. I will occasionally eat something with gluten, but try to keep to a minimum. It's really hard when the immediate consequences are nil.  with high antibodies, the gene, but a negative biopsy (after 3 months strict gluten-free), do i really have celiacs? please say no. lol. i think i know the answer.  Asa

I have had a long year of testing unfortunately still not diagnosed , although one thing they definitely agree I'm gluten intolerant, the thing for me I have severe back troubles they wouldnt perform the tests and I couldn't have a full MRI because I'm allergic to the solution , we tryed believe me  I tryed lol , another was to have another blood test after consuming gluten but it makes me so bad I tryed it for only a week, and because I have a trapped sciatic nerve when I get bad bowels it sets that off terribly so I just take it on myself now , I eat a gluten free diet , I'm the best I've ever been , and if I slip I know it so for me i have my own diagnosis  and I act accordingly, sometimes it's not so straight forward for some of us , for the first time in years I can plan to go out , and I have been absorbing my food better , running to the toilet has become occasionally now instead of all the time , i hope you find a solution 🤗

I was undiagnosed for decades. My ferritin when checked in 2003 was 3. It never went above 10 in the next 20 years. I was just told to "take iron". I finally requested the TTgIgA test in 2023 when I was well and truly done with the chronic fatigue and feeling awful. My numbers were off the charts on the whole panel.  they offered me an endoscopic biopsy 3 months later, but that i would need to continue eating gluten for it to be accurate. so i quit eating gluten and my intestine had healed by the time i had the biopsy (i'm guessing??). Why else would my TTgIgA be so high if not celiacs? Anyway, your ferritin will rise as your intestine heals and take HEME iron (brand 4 arrows). I took 20mg of this with vitamin c and lactoferrin and my ferritin went up, now sits around 35.  you will feel dramatically better getting your ferritin up, and you can do it orally with the right supplements. I wouldn't get an infusion, you will get as good or better results taking heme iron/vc/lf.

Scott, I agree with everything you said except the term "false negative". It should be a "true negative" just plain negative. I actually looked up true/false negative/positive as it pertains to testing. The term "false negative" would be correct if you are positive (have anti-bodies) and the test did not pick them up. That would be a problem with the "test" itself. If you were gluten-free and got tested, you more than likely would test "true" negative or just negative. This means that the gluten-free diet is working and no anti-bodies should be present. I know it sounds confusing and if you don't agree feel free to respond.
