Vincent, I LOVE curly hair! That's the only good thing my husband gave the kids, their curls  . Only one daughter (go figure, the one who is just like him) has my straight hair. My son has longish, curly hair and looks so nice! I agree with Carla, why don't you have it like Timothy (except for the gorgeous red colour, of course ;) )?

His is MUCH curly then mine.... I am considering a royal purple streak though, jsut for fun :)

Broncobucs is going to be here for a wedding and that is why we are meeting for lunch. I finally get to meet his girlfriend.

Vincent, I don't remember my haircut in 7th grade, but I do remember the haircut in the 6th. I was complaining that I needed a haircut and my brother who was 6 years older then me, said he would cut it. He sure did. I went to school with a DA and that afternoon a notice came from the principal that said, if anyone came to school with another one, they would be suspended. I wore mine proudly for awhile, as I was usually not a rebel, but wanted everyone's approval.

Whats a DA?

Anyone watching Grey's? I LOVE THIS SHOW! Speaking of good hair....why do they all have great hair even in the hospital?!

I love Meredith's big scene at the end when she tells them what is on her mind....and then takes the ice cream.

Mmmm....McDreamy, McSteamy, and Ice Cream-y. Mmmmm good combo. Yummy.

(rachel, happy to have you over here. I invited myself as well. Since we are not forty ish, we became "ish"s. I'm in my 20s so I'm an ish ish)

I just made another batch of my 'ice cream' --- not ice cream at all, but its my only version of a cold/sweet treat. Will be ready by the morning. Yay!

Patti, my next avatar (which we be in like five months when I get things unpacked!) will be of one of my cats, Sully---the one that looks very similar to yours. Usually when I post I have either Toby or Sully, or both!) in/on my lap/arm... so sweet.

Now, onto ER....i love Thursday nights!

You'll have to let me know your "ice cream" recipe! We have just about the same exact intolerances, so I'm curious :D

I look forward to seeing your kitties--mine is laying on the floor next to me right now. :)

Ursula, your son looks like you! They are a nice looking couple :)

I want to play too! (Even though I'm only half way to 40ish)

I wish I could ask for hair advice, I hate mine, sooo sick of it! But I have no way to upload pictures from my camera to my computer and don't have any recent ones :(

I'm not really feeling the whole Gray's Anatomy thing. My sister's obsessed, but I guess I just don't get it

Okay, go rent season one, Gray's anatomy - - when I was really sick, before dx and laying on the couch, I watched the first five episodes and was totally hooked. now I am deeply in love with McDreamy and he has replaced my 15-year Matthew McConnaughey obsession.....

Thanks, I figured it's be ok

As far as Gray's Anatomy goes, I don't actually know much about the show. Sometimes when my sister watches it I'll half-way pay attention. She's told me it's like House (which I love but can never watch, I'm always gone on tuesday nights ) except a bit more like a soap. Other then that, I'm clueless

I watched Gray's.... but couldn't concentrate because I was worried about Robbin... good gaawwwdd girl what the heck did you eat to make you puke?

what are you talking about?? did I miss that, on the Gray's Anatomy page? did she vomit?

Guest Robbin

:angry: OMGAWWWDDD!!! Do you have to tell EVERYTHING YOU KNOW GIRLFRIEND???!! Yes, I puked, yes, I am freaking feeling like dog doo, and yes, the john is my friend tonight. Ok, now the world knows--I ate some PORK tenderloin like a fool. I make foods that picky child will eat and had to try it. Yes, I deserve my punishment because I knew what might happen. I was gonna make chicken soup with matzo balls that fiddle faddle posted, but no, dh and ds voted tenderloin. GEEEESHHH!!!

Quick on-topic-question-- Is it ok for a forty-something woman to oooogle a 30-something man if said man is a perfect stranger working on a construction site in public baring oh so nice abs and perfect tan? Just wondering in case that might ever happen.......

Yeah, that is weird, matzo soup or pork, now that I noticed that. Geesh, I am weird, huh?

In the study linked above, the little girl switched to a gluten free diet and gained enough weight that that fat pad was replenished and surgery was not needed.   Here's the full article link... Hello, @Jordan Carlson, So glad you're feeling better.   Tecta is a proton pump inhibitor.  PPI's also interfere with the production of the intrinsic factor needed to absorb Vitamin B12.  Increasing the amount of B12 you supplement has helped overcome the lack of intrinsic factor needed to absorb B12. Proton pump inhibitors also reduce the production of digestive juices (stomach acids).  This results in foods not being digested thoroughly.  If foods are not digested sufficiently, the vitamins and other nutrients aren't released from the food, and the body cannot absorb them.  This sets up a vicious cycle. Acid reflux and Gerd are actually symptoms of producing too little stomach acid.  Insufficient stomach acid production is seen with Thiamine and Niacin deficiencies.  PPI's like Tecta also block the transporters that pull Thiamine into cells, preventing absorption of thiamine.  Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are difficulty swallowing, gagging, problems with food texture, dysphagia. Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are symptoms of ADHD and anxiety.  Vyvanse also blocks thiamine transporters contributing further to Thiamine deficiency.  Pristiq has been shown to work better if thiamine is supplemented at the same time because thiamine is needed to make serotonin.  Doctors don't recognize anxiety and depression and adult onset ADHD as early symptoms of Thiamine deficiency. Stomach acid is needed to digest Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in fruits and vegetables.  Ascorbic acid left undigested can cause intestinal upsets, anxiety, and heart palpitations.   Yes, a child can be born with nutritional deficiencies if the parents were deficient.  Parents who are thiamine deficient have offspring with fewer thiamine transporters on cell surfaces, making thiamine deficiency easier to develop in the children.  A person can struggle along for years with subclinical vitamin deficiencies.  Been here, done this.  Please consider supplementing with Thiamine in the form TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) which helps immensely with dysphagia and neurological symptoms like anxiety, depression, and ADHD symptoms.  Benfotiamine helps with improving intestinal health.  A B Complex and NeuroMag (a magnesium supplement), and Vitamin D are needed also.

@pothosqueen, Welcome to the tribe! You'll want to get checked for nutritional deficiencies and start on supplementation of B vitamins, especially Thiamine Vitamin B 1.   There's some scientific evidence that the fat pad that buffers the aorta which disappears in SMA is caused by deficiency in Thiamine.   In Thiamine deficiency, the body burns its stored fat as a source of fuel.  That fat pad between the aorta and digestive system gets used as fuel, too. Ask for an Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test to look for thiamine deficiency.  Correction of thiamine deficiency can help restore that fat pad.   Best wishes for your recovery!   Interesting Reading: Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome in a 6-Year-Old Girl with Final Diagnosis of Celiac Disease https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31089433/#:~:text=Affiliations,tissue and results in SMAS.
    • trents
Wow! You're pretty young to have a diagnosis of SMA syndrome. But youth also has its advantages when it comes to healing, without a doubt. You might be surprised to find out how your health improves and how much better you feel once you eliminate gluten from your diet. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that, when gluten is consumed, triggers an attack on the villous lining of the small bowel. This is the section of the intestines where all our nutrition is absorbed. It is made up of billions of tiny finger-like projections that create a tremendous surface area for absorbing nutrients. For the person with celiac disease, unchecked gluten consumption generates inflammation that wears down these fingers and, over time, greatly reduces the nutrient absorbing efficiency of the small bowel lining. This can generate a whole host of other nutrient deficiency related medical problems. We also now know that the autoimmune reaction to gluten is not necessarily limited to the lining of the small bowel such that celiac disease can damage other body systems and organs such as the liver and the joints and cause neurological problems.  It can take around two years for the villous lining to completely heal but most people start feeling better well before then. It's also important to realize that celiac disease can cause intolerance to some other foods whose protein structures are similar to gluten. Chief among them are dairy and oats but also eggs, corn and soy. Just keep that in mind.
